  1. Hello I have a question for this group... I am 154 pounds now ' date='I have a normal BMI...and only need 7 1/2 pounds to go....I am 5'7 .... my weight loss is a snails crawl ....sleeved Dec 26, 2013 ....I think it's because my body thinks it's in Maintenance ...which is bound to happen when I get this close to goal... My question is ,what is a good calorie range should I be in to maintain. ..currently I eat about 1000 to 1100 calories...protein 65 to 70 ...carbs 100-130 (a little higher than I like...but fruit is killing me ) Highest weight 296 surgery weight 264 Today 153.6 Patty[/quote']

This is what my nutritionist sent me when I asked a similar question.....

    Hi Stephanie,

You should probably be at 700-750 calories to begin with, 90-120 grams of Protein, 30-40 grams of carb would be okay (just make sure you have less than 15 grams of sugar the rest form more complex carb), 30 grams fat. Every month or two, I would suggest increasing your calories by 100, protein always 90-120, carbs to 40-50 (at goal to begin with then increases as you get below your goal weight by 10 grams per 1-2 months and never more than 80-100 at maintenance) and less thn 50 grams of fat at maintenance. I would try and stay at 20-40 grams of carb until you have a BMI of about 22/23 as I think that would be the ideal weight to get down to.

  2. I had to share...I hit 100 pounds today from my pre-band weight. I'm down 78 from my sleeve on 12/17/13. For those of you whose doctors say revisions don't do as well as "virgin" sleevers...I say' date=' heck NO! <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> I still have a ways to go, but I'm still losing it![/quote']

You look amazing, keep up the great job!

  3. I have the same issue as both of you. I was doing great' date=' weight was coming off at a nice pace, then I got a new job. It's been stressful to leave what I knew and take on a big project in the corporate healthcare world....and even though I'm still doing fine with diet, I find I have less time to exercise. I've really only lost a pound or two in the last 30 days. I think it has more to do with stress hormones than anything I'm doing, but it is just adding more stress. Vicious circle. Anyway, I think I'm going to need to figure out how to exercise more. I don't think it really has that big of an impact on weight loss (I never worked out excessively even when I was losing really fast) but I do think it will help manage stress and those cortisol levels, which might impact weight loss. And of course, burning those extra calories will help, too :) Hang in there.....we will all figure out how to manage life as thin people.[/quote']

I don't have a lot of time and read the book the cardio free diet, it has a strength program using resistance bands and only takes 20-30 minutes, 3 times a week. I have found that I am tightening up some loose skin :-)

  4. We recently did a biggest loser contest at my company and 77 people lost almost 800 pounds.... I was wondering what our total since surgery would be if we added it all up.

I will start I have lost 80 pounds since 12/26/12.

In a few days I will total it and I bet we have lost a few thousand pounds as a support group.

  5. I had surgery 12/27/2012 and I am only down 45 pounds also' date=' it is really upsetting for me because my doctor's nurse keeps telling me I should be losing more. It is making me feel like I am doing something wrong, when I am doing what I am supposed to be doing. I don't know what the problem is. I am very frustrated...I only lose 4 - 5 pounds a month and it sucks.[/quote']

Look at your carb intake, I cut almost all carbs and have lost a lot of weight and inches. Never under estimate how much weight you have lost, be proud of your accomplishment!

  6. How many calories do you eat? I find that I just can't function on the recomended 600-800 calories a day. I need at least 900-1000' date=' or I'm just fatigued and foggy. I'm not hungry, just dragging. As long as I stay around 900-1100 and exercise regularly, I feel pretty darn good. I keep telling my husband I'm the only person I know who is getting younger instead of older <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />[/quote']

I am allowed 600 calories a day, my doctor is very strict! I was feeling pretty good until a few weeks ago, the b-12 shot helped today, I will see how I do with the weekly shots.

  7. Just a little suggestion to the slow looser. If there is any bread' date=' rice, Pasta, or heavy carbs in your diet remove them 100% focus on just the fish/chicken and veggies make sure you get in at least 64 ounces of Water replace a meal with a Protein Shake replace a heavy calorie meal with a fat free greek yogurt. You can't claim your a slow looser if you still have heavy carbs in your diet, your making yourself a slow looser because you still want the foods that caused you to be heavy in the first place. remove them and you will be fine. Just a suggestion. This is your journey and its up to you to really want it! Trust me I crave carbs all the time but I want the weight loss more then the carbs you have to make a choice on how serious this journey is for you. When you can say for Breakfast i had a shake and for lunch i had fish and veggies and for snack I had a greek yogurt and for dinner i had baked chicken and veggies for a week and am still a slow looser i then feel your pain but folks say they slow but have bread, rice, Pasta, and so on and wonder why? Wonder no more guys. CHANGE YOUR DIET! I am not trying to be hard on anyone but it kills me when people say they a slow looser but their carbs outweigh their Protein on their myfitnesspal food intake diary.[/quote']

I have consistently been low carbs and have a few stalls here and there, but have lost over 80 pounds since 12/26. The first few weeks of extremely low carbs was difficult, but after that the cravings went away... I primarily eat meat and veggies. Cut the carbs and you WILL lose weight, the more carbs you eat the more you crave them and the more carbs you eat the hungrier you will be. I also eliminated lunch meat I found the high sodium gave me Water weight gain. I am also consistently at or below 600 calories 20 carbs and 30 fat. I still have 45 pounds to reach goal, and at the rate I am going should be there by 9 months post op.

  8. Just checking in with my fellow December Sleevers' date=' Its been about 4 months and a week now since my surgery and I am down 60 pounds from the day of Surgery and I feel so good I am to small for everything I now own and had to pick up a few items I also only have 33 pounds left to goal and it really shows. After having a few stalls in the beginning its as though my weight loss has been going great non stop and I love it. My only complaint is I don't enjoy going out to eat like I use to because I can no longer enjoy The bread and Soup and salad before a meal so I sit and watch everyone else eat while I sit and wait on my main course and then once its there I can only focus on Protein, I feel like I waste money on a full course meal only to eat such a small portion. I mean don't get me wrong I love my tool but sometimes it has its downfalls.. Oh well I'm loosing and happy and overall thats what matters! :)[/quote']

I feel the same, sometimes I order a kids meal and its still too much :-/
