    February Sleevers

Emmy my surgery is 2/12. I started liquid diet this past Monday. Just stick with it! It will get better! I had a slight headache late on day 1 but since then I've been fine. Not hungry or anything. I have to make sure I am keeping busy though! And I make sure to avoid looking at, being around, smelling, touching food AT ALL! LOL! Good luck!

    Insensitivity

Wow! I love this forum. Thanks for all the supportive responses! I'm fine now. I have much less respect for him personally. As for the co-workers that approached me... the next moring one of them pulled me aside again and appologized if they had come across negative... "it's only that we're worried about you.". I did make sure to mention how I felt about the (idiot) comment that one of them made that "This sounds harder than exercise!" (with a slightly snarky tone might I add). The problem with a small office (as many of you know) is that you work closer with everyone and people think they are entitled to be in your business (much like a family). I think for most people, being obese, having to admit to people that you need to have WLS... is a very sensitive subject. One would think intelligent people would understand this and be sensitive to the feelings of others. I guess some people again... just have no tact. That's the way it is! I am excited to keep this momentum going. I'm taking it to the finish. I'm going to hike this summer darn it! (and it won't be with any of them.. so they can suck it!) On an aside note: I do not like strawberry Unjury. (as I choke it down this morning)

    February Sleevers

I'm scheduled for surgery 2/12 @ 10:15am. Pre-op diet isn't as difficult as I thought it would be. Some of it is mind over matter I guess. No hunger, no headaches. It's all good!

    2 week liquid diet

I started my 2 week pre-op THIS Monday. Day four and I'm doing just fine. I have an Unjury shake for breakfast, a pre-made protien shake @ 10am and then an Unjury for lunch. Then for dinner I've had Tomato soup mixed with skim or cream of chicken. No headaches, no hunger. So far so good!

I never talk about it. AND I'm pretty thick skinned.

    Insensitivity

Thank you everyone... After a night of crying I've transitioned to pissed off mode. God help the first person who approaches me today about the surgery. Actually... I've found my strength and will gently but forcefully get my point across. I do have to work with these people. Oh... by the way. We have 14 total employees. There is no HR department... he IS the HR department. And I do understand that people are worried about me. It would be nice if people could just have a little tact.

I think that was his sick way of pointing out "If that fat, disabled guy can do it... why can't you?" No I didn't say anything to him. I was too embarassed and too on the verge of tears.

    Isopure or unjury?

You need to try some single serving packs to see what you like. Everyone's taste is different. The "unflavored" Unjury is yucky in smell and taste (to me) but is ok to mix a little (not a whole scoop... blech!) in soups. I like both chocolate flavors. I have the vanilla but havent tried it yet. I don't like the strawberry. Whatever the artificial sweetener they use in Unjury flavored took some getting used to for me. I've tried Designer Whey pre-mixed chocolate which is pretty good.

    I've got a tough crowd.

Oh boy, who doesn't completely understand you on this one. My surgery is 2/12. I am very protective of myself emotionally so I really hid it from everyone until I had my surgery date. I only told my partner and my mom early on because... well, it's my partner and my mom! Anyhoo... they are scared and in being scared for my well being... they come across as being not very supportive. I get it. So I haven't really had anyone to REALLY talk to about it. Until one of my co-workers was very interested and expressed to me how hard she knows it must be and wanted to know everything. It was the most I've spoken out loud about this surgery and.... It felt so good! And now... I'm going to go write her a thank you card to tell her how much that meant to me. Changing39.. I hope you can find someone like this!

    Harvard Pilgrim Healthcare

My Surgeon submitted to Harvard Pilgrim and one day later they had my approval! That blew my mind. I couldn't believe it when I received that phone call! It became quite real that day! MY surgery is scheduled on 2/12 @10:15am. Gulp!

    Roll Call!

Hi ! My name is Tammy. I'm 39 years old and I'm from Maine. I'm a crafter. Any craft will do! My surgery date is 2/12. I'm both scared and excited. Emotions are all over the place! Honestly, I can't wait for the surgery to be over so I can move on and stop worrying! I haven't really thought about the outcome of this surgery as me becoming skinny. I've mostly been thinking about the promise of enjoying doing the physical activities I used to do; hiking, biking, travel... and being less self conscious in my skin. February 12 cannot come soon enough. Bring it!

OMW... My surgeons office called me @ 1:30 today. APPROVED after 1 day. Pinch me! AND good luck to you!

    Harvard Pilgrim Healthcare

I'm wondering the same. My employer JUST switched us from Aetna to Harvard Pilgrim effective Jan 01. This is after I've gone through the 6mos of dietician, psychologist, etc on Aetna. I just had my final appointment... the meeting with my surgeon yesterday and now they will petition Harvard Pilgrim. I don't know about you but I think the insurance company having the final say (basically) is the worst part of this whole thing.

    Waiting process

I'm waiting on insurance approval now too. After going through the 6mos of pre-op appts I met with my surgeon yesterday. He and his staff told me that it could take 4-6 weeks before surgery. Unfortunately my employer changed our insurance starting Jan 01.... that could throw a wrench in and slow down the approval. Ugh.. I just want to get this over with and move on.
