    Bougie Size?

30 My dr uses a looser staple line against the boogie wall, less problems he said. Also he takes out more of the stomach, meaning the suture lines up even with the lower pyloric sphincter, some drs i guess leave more curvature there? But really he said ur not really gonna see that much difference with a 32, 34,36 but a 40 yes the difference side by side is obvious! It's all about how ur surgeon chooses to staple/suture. So he said with the 30 bougie, looser staple line, less issues but in the long run will be a slightly larger bougie than a 30 with a tight staple line.

    May 6 post surgery

Sent too soon! Yesterday post op day 6 was the worst pain ever in the am for 2-3 hrs. I thought I'd rebound quicker than I have & I'm a relatively healthy 31 y/o minus the 100 lbs I need to loose! Today has been better although still taking 6-8 loratabs a day. Pre pain than my 2 csections, gallbladder & another random abd surgery when I was 21. I'm probably overdoing it, ok I know I am! Hang in there, this too shall pass!!

I getting fluids& protein in & tracking on my fitness pal ap. ready to walk more and be off meds!! Overall hubby has been great being my gopher. Gluck u all!!! I feel healthier already! 5. Sleeved Monday 5/6 in N TX! Still in some pain but overall doing well. Tracking calls on my fitness pal and feel healthier already but the choices I'm making!! How r y'all doing? My 1st post op appt in 2.5 weeks out on 5/23.
  6. Hi guys!!y name is Whitney and I have been in the NICU level III for 7+ yrs and got sleeved 5/6/13, a few days ago! So far in some pain but doing quite well. I live near OKC, OK but was sleeved in N Texas due to insurance. I feel healthier already by the choices I'm making. Tracking my calories on my fitness pal and trying to walk a few houses down every few hrs. Still taking pain meds which surprises me, didn't think I'd be in this much pain. Helps to sit up, heat and chill!

    Sleeved May 6th 2013

Congrats! We have the same date. My procedure was at 730 but I was in a considerable amt of pain/agitation until 4pm. We got the morphine& toradol combo just right to ease the pain and help me smile again! Today I'm switching to po pain meds & been up walking 6x's total. I had a in diagnosed hiatal hernia repaired with my sleeve. All in all I feel like a new woman than yesterday! I was SO moody, crazy how pain will do that to u. Keep up the good work but goes to show, everyone is different. My husband has been my right hand man, could not have done it without his constant help! Will u go home today? We plan on discharge but have a 3 hr drive home to OKC from TX.

    I messed up

My surgeon doesn't even make u do the preop diet. Like others said to shrink the liver but its so the tools used in surgery can move it out of the way to get to ur stomach. If too heavy/fatty u might have to be opened up, larger incision & recovery time. This rarely happens with my surgeon and the cases it did were the grossly obese >500 lbs. I think ur good & def attentive to detail which will be of great importance after!!!!! Gluck!!!
  9. Have u had ur surgery yet? I would say the DS for that much weight loss. My mom just did the DS 2 wks ago. More invasive but more drastic long term results. Dr Stewart is a pro at these too!! That's my mothers dr as well! She did have a drain and stayed 3 nights. It was harder than she thought but each day getting easier!!
