    All of my December sleevers...

First off this is 2012 December sleevers although you are more then welcomed here and second after your liquid phase your body is catching up to your rapid weight loss and adjusting to the changes allow your body time to catch up and it will start to lose again also take measurements to keep track when you're not losing weight you might be losing inches. track both.... Good luck to you. and FOLLOW YOUR DOCTOR'S ORDERS its important everyone who "claims" their sleeve failed them didn't follow doctor's orders and did what they wanted to do not what they were told to do.. Just some friendly advice.

    All of my December sleevers...

Okay so today I sat and thought about something weight loss wise.. I remember when I first got out and could not eat a thing everything was small and weight flew off.. Now we have a little more room to play with and we learn after being a year and a half out that we can play hard! Its still all about choices. I'm guilty of pushing my sleeve past its comfort zone.. "when you begin to feel full stop" Yeah I dont ever stop anymore. I keep going sometimes until Im in pain.. But wait.. Am I happy? No I still want to loose a few more pounds so why do I continue to push food in when I feel full? I still dont get hungry mind you.. I have to remind myself to eat or set a schedule for eating times so I wont starve. Why do I allow myself this discomfort? Anyone guilty of the do not's? of sleeve eating? Now let me say I dont gain weight but I dont loose weight either so i kept the weigh toff since my first, second and third goal was set i keep failing at this final goal but point is.... is anyone else guilty of the sleeve sins i have committed?

    All of my December sleevers...

So I have a question.... My sleeve date was 12/06/12 and I still have so much restriction. After a 5.3 ounce yogurt I'm still very full am I the only one? Whats the most you can eat? Now I find it funny I can eat wrong foods there for making it seem like the restriction is pointless but I just want to know how much most of us are getting in 16 months out. Oh and by the way I stop eating slider foods and started eating right again so not to start any new bad habits with such a small stomach.

You have done an amazing job.. I'm like you been stuck where I'm at for wow about 6 months now cant seem to loose more but I also wont lie I eat foods i shouldn't as long as I dont gain I cont care.. If I would drop slider foods and pick up positive foods I would surly loose more weight i just make poor choices and maintain what I am and again im fine with that if your eating carbs (Bread rice pasta foods with sugar and so on) then that may be the issue when I stick with low carb meals I seem to loose without a problem

    All of my December sleevers...

Okay everyone I know this may sound crazy.. But I have to ask.. I know our surgeries assisted us in our weight loss and its a good thing that we have restriction BUT am I the only one who gets mad when we want more but cant fit more? like right now I did only tuna for lunch no bread or crackers but now that I have reached my limit I want a slice of butter toast. (I dont eat crabs very often) But I'm angry I cant eat it because im full. Am I the only one who gets upset like this? Am I the only one who wants to still eat even after being full.. I try to choose the right foods so not to gain the weight back... So I chose a good lunch meal but am frustrated I really wanted a bad food and I really want to keep eating but cant.. Do you think what Im feeling is normal?

    All of my December sleevers...

First let me respond by saying all my info on the left is correct. I hope you get yours fixed. Then let me agree with you I also feel based on my past life and new restrictions I too agree with what you are saying.. I honestly don't see with all the restriction we do have how in the hell is it that we can gain weight but we do.. *sigh* I said from 3 months out that I should be able to eat WHATEVER fits in me and still loose weight because how can you gain with such limits but its not the case we still need to watch what we choose to eat and the intake of calories carbs and fat... I dont see why but the body is a funny thing.. Unlike some people who can eat anything and everything never workout and never gain, we are built differently we cant eat whatever whenever wherever and get away with it not even with restrictions i too wish I could reach goal then go back to bread rice pasta potato's and all the other foods I miss and love so much but I realize quickly that I cant now dont get me wrong one or twice a week i can treat myself to one off beat thing or another but i choose not to because it triggers the want for them on a regular I just stick with the new changes and make it work for me.. We are all human trust me when I say daily I think of bad foods i want like pizza and cake and cookies and chips and I just choose to say no its hard but i do it because I dont want to mess up the hard work i put in to get here. My new life is okay its not the happiest and at times I watch others eat subway sandwiches and pizza and large plates of food and it bothers me because 1 I know I cant do it and 2 because I really want that too. My lifestyle is changed by force and strength nothing more the old me is still there and since its been over a year I dont think she will ever leave mentally that is.. but I make the daily choice to behave and stay on track so that I wont ever have to wonder where i went wrong or fight to loose such a large amount of weight again i lost a whole teenager body off of me and I dont want her back on me either.. so with that said yes you can and I know you will be okay just go back to stage 2/3 and retrain your mental to what you know you need to do and not what you want to do.. Good luck.

    All of my December sleevers...

Okay I stand corrected and love that you openly admit your faults.. (hug) This is a first step. I want you to know I have reached goal and learned very quickly this is far from over I too allowed that monster back into my life and learned quick regret! I learned that reaching goal is not enough I learned that this is my new life and that we will always need to keep up on what we eat or we will be back where we came from (extremely overweight) Know its a daily struggle and it wont end so I'm saying this to all SLEEVERS not just you if you walked into this looking for a here and now fix you might as well give up now because once you reached goal it has just begun its far from over and welcome to your new life as you knew it! I know PLENTY OF PEOPLE who have lost all of their weight with Lapband/sleeve/bypass and have over the years gained it back I will not be that person because from the day I reached goal and went back to some of my old ways I excepted the change and now know this is a lifestyle not just a easy fix I am committed and refuse to be back where I was therefore assuring my continued success. Once you place your mind in that area you will continue to receive what you set out for the day you allowed them to cut holes into you and altering your body! DONT LET THE RESTRICTIONS BE FOR NOTHING! Fight for what you wanted all these years change your mindset and let it happen being on the slimmer side is so much sweeter I can assure you. Good luck to you and all our fellow brothers and sisters.. I wish you all great success.

    All of my December sleevers...

I agree with undercoverbariatricgirl. The analogy I make is to school. Suppose you sign up for a class. You check the syllabus and know what the rules are, what the homework is, and when the tests are. Half way through the class, you have a C average. Some of your classmates are getting an A and you wonder what the difference is. Are you going to class everyday? Are you studying every night? Do you do all the homework? Do you take advantage of the teacher's office hours? So, the sleeve is a tool. You signed up for it. Now you need to take full advantage of all it can teach you. Your sleeve gets bigger with time, but hopefully we will be retrained to eat appropriately. I'm a rule follower and these are my rules. 1) Protein first. At least 70 gm per day. (Usually more like 80 to 90) 2) 64 oz of water per day. For me, no caffeine or pop. Diet coke is a gateway food for me. Haven't even had a sip since before surgery. 3) Fat less than 45 gm. (Sometimes I get up to 50 but I try to keep the weekly average good) 4) Carbs less than protein. So if I eat 95 gm protein, my carbs are usually 70 to 90 5) No bread, no pasta, no potatoes, no rice. This is my rule, not my nutritionist. Again, another gateway food group. I did have some mashed potatoes with gravy over the holidays but it made me crave more. The only "bread" I eat is lunch on a sandwich thin- whole grain of course. 6) weigh yourself once weekly 7) record your food diary daily. I use myfitnesspal. I don't beat myself up over a bad day because I can look at my weekly average and see that I did okay. 8) my doctor's office wants me to contact them if I gain 5 lbs. They don't want us to wait until it is 10 or 20. 9) Exercise 3 hours per week. 10) Take my supplements. Calcium and iron need to be separated by 2 hours. So, take advantage of all your resources and if it still isn't working, call your doctor or see a nutritionist. I hated protein shakes even the no flavor one had an after taste to me, I did them for only the first 3 months then depended on food intake for protein... My hair is fine and I always seem to have enough energy I only take vitamins from time to time because my blood work shows my food intake is doing me just fine all my levels for everything are normal I usually take in 800- 1100 calories a day it depends on my day nuts will definitely increase my count but I throw them in every other day as a snack I love salad but try to get my meat in first I always try to get at least 3 ounces when I do tuna/fish/chicken then I focus on the veggie of choice I have not had any rice for over a year i only do manicotti when I choose pasta and I can count on 1 hand how many time in a year i have had that.. so translation I have done hardly no pasta I have had very little potato's same as pasta I can count that on one hand too and I dont do any sugar unless its already in the food I purchased I might have had some form of bread product about 10 times in the year and its usually one slice with turkey meat and low fat cheese and light mayo and so on .. translation I am doing fine blood level wise without all the protein products and so on and I have been very successful in weight loss without all of that.. everyone is different I am due for more blood work soon and as long as it says Im normal I will continue with what I been doing if they say I need it which I doubt since I feel fine then I will do what needs to be done.. Come on sleevers stop cheating yourself out of success change your mind set and make changes so that you can feel as good as the sleevers who followed their doctors instructions and let go of the complex carbs if your not loosing find foods that you not only enjoy but that will keep the scale moving down. Don't give into food you can do it!

    All of my December sleevers...

Okay so question? A year out how much can you get in.. For me depending on what it is 4-6 ounces max meat is always 3-4 ounces softer foods like yogurt/oatmeal (4-5) i can push 6 but know I feel very full when i do...I still measure some of my foods because I dont like to waste food. and with the sleeve I would say a lot goes to the trash so I learned to only make what I think im really going to eat or can freeze or what have you. I have food still not touched from 2.5 months out it got so bad I stopped buying meats and stuff and force myself to eat whats in my freezer so that it wont get freezer burn therefore wasting more money. The sleeve is a funny thing I tell you.. I swear if I really look in my deep freezer and my present limits I have 2+ years of meat in there.. SMH so no more wasting money..

    All of my December sleevers...

May I suggest you not eat any complex carbs at all and see how that works for you I'm not placing judgment but a lot of people say the sleeve fails them but I notice they eat ALL the wrong foods.. Instead of NO NO foods try for example 4-6 ounces of of yogurt with maybe two small turkey/light sausages for breakfast then for lunch have a few slices of turkey/deli chicken slices with a slice of low fat cheese and maybe a half of a greek yogurt then for dinner some baked chicken with any salad/ green leafy veggie..... and if you want a snack go for another yogurt or a salad.. The sleeve is not failing you.. Your choice of foods most likely are hurting your success.. No Bread no rice no pasta no sauces no sugar these are the things that in most of our cases made us fat let them go and see how low carb high protein works for you.. If you can tell me you not loosing weight eating that then yeah I agree But deep down inside you know like I know your not eating the best food choices mix it up a bit have tuna no crackers no bread have some baked fish no bread if you throw in the complex carbs your going to have little to no loss.. I have tried to throw carbs back in my diet bad idea i gained 5 pounds back fast its not for everyone some people can eat carbs and get away with it and some like my self cant. I feel like your slapping yourself in the face if you dont put your best foot forward after having this surgery you allowed someone to cut you open take away more then half of your stomach and for what? To fail? It shouldn't even be an option! I wish you well.. Change your mental on what your allowed to have and I can assure you that the sleeve is working just fine!

    All of my December sleevers...

I feared the holidays as well! I ate and enjoyed my family and didn't gain! I am so happy/jealous to hear that you are still losing! I am completely stuck? Any suggestions? I'm sorry to hear that you are stuck I really didn't experience to many stalls and when I did I would go back to stage 2 type foods yogurt tuna and so on that would always seem to jump start my sleeve for me. I stay away from bad carbs they make the difference in what is lost and gained for me.. No bread No rice No pasta and it seems to work I stay away from sugar and other foods with names i cant pronounce.. All I can say is try something different to jump start it and keep away from heavy carbs.. Best of luck to you

I feared the Holidays.. But now that one has come and gone and I lost weight its no longer a fear my sleeve works I just knew I was gonna gain weight from the things I ate but that didn't happen.. Shockingly I am still loosing without a thought and I love it. I make 1 year on December 6 and I been reached my goal.. At times I get jealous at people who can actually eat a very heavy loaded plate of food but as long as I can at least taste each item and feel full I get over it quickly... Anyone else fearing the Holidays?

    All of my December sleevers...

Is it just me or has anyone else noticed that even though for "normal people" it takes 3,500 calories to gain a pound but for "us" as soon as we slip just a little bit a whole pound will be gained.. I mean I get that we have serious intake restrictions and we can go from 600 calories to 1200 maybe 1500 if we try hard enough but a pound.. How is this possible when I haven't even take in 3,500 calories.... I am supposed to be in maintenance but it seems like I need to learn how to do that.. What can I intake without loosing anymore and or gaining any weight.. This in itself is a project.. Today make 11 Months on the date... I had my surgery December 6, 2012... 1 month until my Surgery Date.. I am so glad to be at goal already and still loosing.. But I don't want to loose anymore.. I believe that after skin removal I will be perfect. Is there anyone already at goal that has learned what there balance is?

    All of my December sleevers...

I swear my doctors office was very little help in this area I have not seen the nutritionist since my first post op appointment and that was only because I complained about the fact that they gave me a diet for post op lap band people and not post op vsg people. I have done all my dieting on my on. I was never given a goal weight by my doctor or even a restrictions list.. He actually encouraged me to go back to food if it didn't fit in one sitting lol, I mean don't get me wrong I have yet to walk in there without results but heck I did this on my own. I did my own research and gave myself a goal they asked me what my goal was and I told them and they were happy with my choice in goal.. I swear at times I wish I had a more professional group. I guess they give you the help when they see you failing but since I have done good from day one I didnt get that additional help..*shrug* .

    All of my December sleevers...

Hey everyone just checking in on my fellow December Sleevers... I'm wondering how everyone is feeling knowing we all about to hit a year.... I don't know about you guys but I still feel a whole lot of restriction I spoke to a friend of mines that is a few years out and she says she can get in about 12 ounces at this time.. I'm still very stuffed at 5-6 ounces depending on what I'm eating. with meats 3 Oz stuffs me but with yogurt I can get in 5.3 with slight discomfort and 6 ounces is pushing it. I still dont drink and eat together... I still stay away from bad carbs.. What are you all doing almost a year out?

Your welcome and I wish you well.. You'll be fine all you have to do is sit yourself down and say I didnt do this for nothing! And mean it! You lost the ability to eat a full plate of food a hero a whole pizza with extra cheese and all the fixings ..... and the list goes on... To fail? I refuse to have given all of that up for nothing! Make it work for you make it worth your new limitations!

    All of my December sleevers...

If your not loosing maybe you should track calories with myfitnesspal start measuring your meats (2-3 oz) and take one bite of the meat and the other of veggies/salad with light dressing and so on. that way your sure you get 50/50 in intake therefore giving you less calorie intake don't eat any carbs at all and change your workout routine try dancing or jogging instead of walking or even a brisk walk lift weights try crunches your meals can be something like.. a smoothie for Breakfast made of frozen fruits and a yogurt and lunch baked chicken or fish with salad and the same for dinner no grazing and if you must eat nuts or a fruit cup what you put inside of yourself makes a huge difference you can do it using myfitnesspal right can tell you where your going right and or wrong it allows you to keep track of carbs, sugar, calories and a few other things you choose what you want to track fat and so on you may be eating calories for maintenance instead of weight loss so try it. you will be fine make a few changes

    All of my December sleevers...

Oh let me mention my Doctor never gave me a goal weight he allowed me to set that for myself and on every post op visit he told me how good I looked and how proud he was of me. I am so glad he chose the sleeve size he chose for me because even at 10 months post op I still feel a lot of restriction and am loving it! I can at best get in 5 ounces comfortably. If I try to push 6 or more I feel uncomfortably full. although when I really like what I'm eating I do push at times. (Not often) On most days I dont eat more then 1,000 calories my average is 800-1000 and it still seems to work for me I guess once in maintenance i will make it 1200-1300 so that I don't gain but so I don't loose anymore either. Let me also mention all my weight loss is post op I never had a pre op diet. Let me also mention I DONT till this day still eat any bread rice or pasta of any kind, I have enjoyed a few carbs but in 10 months I would have to say I may have had 3 slices of preservative free bread a few very thin sliced pasta pieces and no rice what so ever.. It works best for me. The majority of my intake has been baked fish and green veggies with plenty of water intake No grazing and if and when I do I choose smart snacks like nuts and beef jerky and so on... I love my sleeve! Best life changing chose ever! I'm still here guys for your support!
