Try chicken broth...it counts as water but is warm and tastes good!
-
I lost over a 100 pounds when I was in my 30's and had no loose skin afterward at all. I regained all the weight back (*** ***). Now, in my 40's, I've had the sleeve surgery and have lost over 100 pounds again. This time around....sagginess big time! So, for me, with age came less "re-bounding" or tightening. But I'm o.k. with it....better saggy than full of fat !!!

These vitamins are GROSS!
12345 replied to CoreyCan's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I used to take the gummy multi-Vitamins but my nutritionist said not to take them in gummy form. Something about they can't produce all the necessary minerals in gummy form so they're left out by the manufacturer. I now take multi-Vitamin MINIS made by Nature Made. They're not super small but better than chewables! The chewables ARE nasty. I like Bariatric Advantage's calcium caramel chews. They taste like candy. (They really do!) -
I thought I was the only one who was hungry!

I bought a Magic Bullet blender. I used it all the time! -
December 2012 sleevers. How much have you lost?
12345 replied to Tink22-sleeve's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved December 18th and I'm down 100 pounds. But I started out a lot heavier than most.... -
I want to know honest calorie intake
12345 replied to lwilliams65's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I understand what you're talking about. My nutritionist wouldn't give me a daily calorie total. She just said to eat 5-6 small meals/snacks and to get in 71 grams of Protein each day. So that's what I have done. My calories end up between 700-900. But recently my doctor raised my daily protein goal to 89 grams. I'll have to eat more to reach that. I hope my weight loss won't slow down! How much protein do you need to get each day? -
Good in the Morning....Hungry and weak (of mind) in the evening
12345 replied to VSG148Sz6's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am having the same problem. My new strategy is to plan out everything I am going to eat for the day ahead of time...and write it down. I want to figure out the protein, calories and liquid amount ahead of time, too. Hopefully, this will help me... -
I was sleeved 3 1/2 months ago and have lost 100 pounds. Reaching that mark has been very exciting! Here's the BUT part: I eat A LOT. I track everything I eat and my daily calories are between 700-800. But I eat a lot of stuff...low-calorie stuff, but what seems like a lot to me. My nutritionist said she was fine with what I eat because I am losing weight. Here's a typical day: Breakfast - no sugar added oatmeal (4 oz.) Snack - Quest Protein Bar Lunch - 4 oz. chicken salad (no fat may) w/ 5 small soy crisps Afternoon Snacks - 4 oz. cottage cheese; sugar-free Jello with sugar-free Cool Whip Dinner - chicken salad again Evening snack - sugar-free fudgsicle; Special K Protein Cereal (4 oz.) That's 3 meals and 5 snacks!!! It seems like I need to eat that much to reach my 89 g protein goal. Anyone else in the same boat?

The popsicles don't have protein but Dairy Queen sugar-free fudge bars have 4 grams. Jell-o doesn't have any protein either but it's only 10 calories and counts towards my liquid goal of 64 ounces a day.
-
I don't feel the restriction or full feeling that so many people here write about. I don't eat more than 4 oz. at a time but feel like I could.

I take Bariatric Advantage-brand calcium citrate chewy bites...4 a day (250 mg each).

My pants fell down!
12345 replied to Takingcontrol's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm laughing so hard reading these entries...I'm crying! My husband is giving me a strange look! I almost lost my pants yesterday in Target. I spent the rest of the shopping trip holding on to my waistband with one hand and trying to steer the cart with the other! I LOVE having this kind of problem....WAY better than the old days of trying to shove body parts gracefully through turnstiles or fit into airplane seats.... -
A co-worker recommended Bolthouse Farms yogurt dressing. It has only 45 calories per two tablespoon serving, 2.5 fat, 2 g Protein (for the Caesar Parmigiano variety). It tastes great...not "diet" at all. I found this dressing at Meijer in the refrigerated section of the produce department. I use it as a dipping sauce for Costco's turkey patty (which has 35 grams of protein!)

Try Bolthouse Farms yogurt dressing as a mayo substitute. It comes in a lot of flavors and has only 45 calories for 2 tablespoons. It's in the refrigerated section of the produce department.

Did anyone have to put on Xanax to be able to have the surgery?
12345 replied to Jenah's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I requested ahead of time if I could take a Xanax on the morning of my surgery and the doctor said it was fine. It made me relaxed and everything went well! -
One more thing about Quest bars...they have no sugar alcohol, which I cannot tolerate for some reason. So that's another plus. On the down side, they cost $2 each.
-
I love Quest protein bars! Chocolate brownie is my favorite flavor. It has 20 grams of protein, 5 non-fiber carbs, and 6 grams of fat. I'm not sure how that stacks up against other protein bars, but my NUT recommended this brand.

One of the members here recommended Kirkland (Costco) turkey patties as a high Protein food. There are 35 grams of protein in one patty! After cooking, the patties weigh 4 ounces...which is a perfect portion for sleevers. Has anyone else tried them? Maybe I overcooked the turkey, but it was a little dry. Maybe I'll dip it in low-fat ranch next time... For 35 grams of protein, I'll be eating these often!

Sleeved 12/18 and down 85 pounds. Trying to get in more exercise daily....using an exercise bike 20-60 minutes 5 x a week. I don't think that is enough. . .

Just this past week, I've encountered two rude people. My sister-in-law informed me I just should have dieted. I wish I had thought of that. Then a co-worker mentioned she considered weight loss surgery but felt it was only for weak, unmotivated people. Gee, thanks!

Quest Protein Bars. 20 g of protein
-
I use chicken broth to moisten tuna or chicken (which I puree). I eat this with soy crisps. 4 oz. of tuna or chicken is 20 grams of protein. I add Mrs. Dash seasoning for flavor...

Gastric sleeve vs. gastric bypass - your opinions:
12345 replied to alannahroseoxo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the surgery mainly to try and get rid of my diabetes, I wanted the bypass because the percentages were higher of being cured of diabetes. My surgeon said no to the bypass because I have colitis. So I had the sleeve 10 weeks ago. Since then, the following has happened: * My endocrinologist said my diabetes is CURED * Colitis symptoms are gone * I lost 81 pounds So I highly recommend the sleeve! -
I have trouble getting in the 64 oz. I'm supposed to drink every day. Chicken broth makes it a lot easier. I have no problem drinking it...which is weird because plain water sits in my gut like a brick. Anyways, broth is low calorie....
