  1. I asked mine right out, what his stats were he was honest with me, how many had he done and how many had leaks and how many, if an y had died. He said 850 of the sleeve and way more of the bypass, the only deaths he has had post op were from car accidents! He said the few leaks hes had were patient caused(one person ate an entire chicken nugget 2 wk post, it popped the stapple line. I was happy with that info. Maybe try giving his office a call, the should be honest with you.
  2. What are you looking under to find the recipes on pinterest? WLS?
  3. Congrats! I remember fretting over the insurance wait, mine took about a week too. But they approved with no issues. I 'm being sleeved monday and I have only had to do a one week pre-op diet, thank goodness! Not my fav but its going alright. Except for the headaches! No caffeine is killing me
  4. My surg is monday I have been on pre-op diet since monday this week. My surgeon gives us all our food for pre and post, I like the core power shakes but theres much of it that I can't stand! I am down 5 pounds tho so I must be doing something right, And yes I find myself going to the cup board only to go duh! You can't have anything in there!!
  5. ME as well 8-5, so excited. Good luck
  6. Gonna for sure try this when I get to that point, my husband could eat it on shells too.
  7. I agree with the stages of grief, we are losing what was comfortable to us for years!!! I am on pre-op now and trying my damndest to stay on track. My head keeps getting in the way!!! Ugh, in the middle of the day I will have flashes of food that I love and I feel my body react in a happy way toward it! Shows me how addicted I am to it. Really kind of scary, I have never dealt with this before on all of my other diets. All we can do is live moment to moment, and try to find something that makes us happy(besides food)!!!
  8. I only have a week off, hoping I can manage when I get back, I have a job where I'm on my feet about half the day, so fingers crossed that I can get back to it without feeling too drained, going to really work on my water/protien intake to help with the fatigue ,,I pretty much figure the first week back I will be going to bed as soon as I get home from work!!
  9. I asked my surgeon how many sleeves he had done and he said 850, I asked him how many had complications or death he said he ends of fixing more of other surgeons mistakes! And that the only deaths his patients had were from car accidents!! yikes
  10. Prob any chicken thats not fried, like cashew chick, or pepper steak. I was going to say egg drop too but I understand the wanting to stay away
  11. Thanks for the replys, my hubby brought some tylenol to work for me, I did take a couple sips of coffee. My paperwork says decaf only and no ibprophen for bleeding risk. At least now its tolerable, just a dull roar! I am trying to follow the pre-op instructions to a T and be a good girl.
  12. So I woke this morning with the worlds worst headache. The only thing that does anything for me is ibprophen and I am only allowed tylenol(which does nothing for me) And to add to it I have a packed work schedule since I am going to be off next week. I am drinking water like crazy and am sure its hormonal with a dash of no caffeine! JUst thought I would wine since no one here knows why I can't take ibprophen.
  13. Oh man, you have me worried now. I have worked at the hospital that I am having my surg at and I certainly hope none of my fellow cowlorkers are around for the show.....cuz it aint all that purty.
  14. tbrown, good luck to you as well, this site has been an absolute life saver for support. I love meeting everyone and hearing their journeys! Keep me posted!
  15. I was told that st marys has private rooms so 1 person can stay with you there. And I believe they have discounted rates at hotels.
  16. Well I just went for my pre-op appt yesterday. I am lucky in that I only have to do a 1 week pre-op diet. Its been fine, nothing too terrible. They have you do alot of processed foods which isn't my favorite but oh well. I go for labs thurs and I am scheduled for 730am mon(st marys). I am happy to be first thing too. 2 night stay prob unless they think I am ok sooner. They really have their stuff together, everything is stream lined and well communicated. I have nothing but good things to say about GHP. So happy my ins will cover this so I didn't have to go far away. Are you getting excited! You aren't far off,
  17. OK so where to start.....I have been on the site since late november of 12 and here I am 9 months later ready to embark on the journey of the sleeve. I am on here just about everyday and have not done one of these yet. I guess I would like to have something to look back on during and after my transformation.(sounds like I am going to a sex change or something!!) Anyway, I completed my 6 month ins requirement, had to walk the fine line of not dropping below a 40 bmi and not gaining, I started at 5'7' 258(40 bmi) and bounced up to 262 then back down to 257. Ins took about a week which surprised me, thought I would get declined or have to wait a month. Must say that was the most anxiety of this whole process, the insurance. Now onto today I had a 4 hour pre-op appt, was given my pre-op post-op food, and all my paperwork as to the dos-donts of sleeve land....... My other stats are I'm a 33 yr gal married to wonderfully supportive hubby who is more than anxious about my doing this. No kids yet but after I have lost enough to be healthy then we will try. I have a gordon setter named Cooper who is a 75# lapdog and my baby. I also have a 11yr old akita who I feel has probably been with me in another life. She is an old soul who just "knows" me. And anyone who has ever experienced that with a dog/animal knows exactly what I'm saying. Shes beginning to fail and I find myself taking extra moments out of my day to appreciate her. Last but not least is Buddy, hes my african grey parrot and hes a trip. My fatness......well my fatness goes back to one of my first memories going to the doctor for shots and the doctor saying I was overweight, no more apple juice or graham crackers, my mom was a health nut there was never anything unhealthy around. My mom pushed me hard and before you knew it I was sneaking food and hiding to eat. I could think of nothing else but food. I stayed overweight till college when waitressing for 12 hrs and aerobics class took over. Oh yeah and that stuff called ephedrine that was miracle for me. I prob at that point got to my lowest in years around 170-180 and was never aware that I was thinner. I still had the monkey on my back, and I am worried that will be my biggest thing to overcome as the weight comes off. The Fat girl mentality., I must admit, I have the whole self loathing problem, can't make eye contact with people in certain settings, avoid having pics taken. My poor husband, has dealt with me withdrawing from the bedroom due to this as well. I am done hiding!!!! So here starts my new journey, I have butterflies but I am not too freaked out. Considering I am having most of a major organ removed. hhhmmm I am going to take some pics(gasp) and measurements. I have also tried to keep this secret from most everyone. Only my mother and husband know, afterwards I may come clean because at that point it won't matter if theres negativity, whats done is done. I work in a cardiology office and have many people around me who have no filter in there heads and say whatever comes to there tiny little brains......and if I hear "easy way out" again I may scream!! So my surg date is Aug 5 730am sharp!!! I am so ready to get a move on. Sorry for the lengthy post(or not) I will try to post the day of and after, because I know how much seeing those posts have helped educate me and prepare me for whats coming. Till next time
  18. I have a close friend who has had to have the steroids due to MS flare ups. She always talked about how nasty everything tasted for days after, and how she was an emotional mess because of them. DO you think the flare up was caused by surg? Wishing you the best and a fast recovery!!
  19. I also had to do 6 months. But actually 7 appts. with a bariactric doctor, I had to keep a food journal(myfitnesspal) and I also could not drop below 40 BMI or that would have been a denial straight out because I have no comorbs. Also had to see exercise specialist/nutritionist as well. It felt like the longest 6 months of my life. Fast forward to now, I got my approval and start my pre-op diet July 29th, sleeve aug 5. So it does finally come to an end!!
  20. Great post! Gives me something to look forward to, surg date is agu 5. I also have a bullet and have not heard of doing the spinach ice cubes great idea!!!! How much do you use?
  21. I must ask, mounted delivery doens't mean horse right??! JK! That would be fun tho. I am in Rockford and we are headed up to Indian river for the weekend to escape the heat. I am nervous and excited for this surg!!
  22. I am going to st Marys. Where was your sleeve done? Did he have you stay 2 nights? I have my pre- appt in 2 weeks. How was your recovery?
