  1. I am a couple of hours away -- near Columbia.
  2. How many brands of protein shakes have you tried? Do you just hate sweet stuff?
  3. I would like to take a maxi dress to go home in, but want a CHEAP one as I should grow out of it soon!
  4. Non-slip bedroom slippers for those walks after surgery! Chapstick, a heating pad, maybe some unflavored protein powder.
  5. Addictive personalities can get addicted to ANYTHING!!!! This is a big problem for me, too. I tend to get obsessive about things: hobbies, interests, whatever. Do you have a therapist? That would be a help to you.
  6. What a wonderful topic! The things I am looking forward to are: not worrying about fitting in a booth; not being in pain all the time; being able to go shopping with my daughter; having more energy; being able to do more around the house; being able to keep up with my coworkers; not turning down invitations because I am too tired or because I am too fat; being able to do more things with my son.
  7. Good luck! Hopefully, I will be there in August. Please post about your experience as soon as you feel well enough. You should do great!
  8. Nope, my DH told me that I didn't need surgery -- just to develop self control instead. He is also pretty upset because my insurance doesn't cover it and I will have to be self pay.
  9. Thank you so much! That was really helpful. I will be sure to ask if I can pre-board.
  10. I will be going to Mexicali with Dr. Aceves. My original date was in a year, but I think I have DH talked into August!!! I am so tired of being in pain.
  11. After my surgery, I will have about a seven hour flight home. Those of you who had long flights, how did it go for you on the way home?
  12. Thank you so much for that wonderful, informative post. I will be there in March of '14.
  13. Wow! I am angry on your behalf. That was such a betrayal by your husband. This is *your* health you are dealing with. You have done your research and made your plans. Be strong and go! I know it is hard. Hugs sent your way.
  14. I would love to hear a detailed account of your experience. I am saving up for Dr. Aceves in the summer of '14. Did you have a lot of pain right after surgery?
  15. Oh, yeah, my spouse is not happy about it. The expense bothers him. I have to do self pay as my insurance excludes coverage and will be going to Mexico which is cheaper.
  16. I don't know the whys of it, but from reading lots of sleeve forums can tell you it is common, and even to be expected. I am actually looking forward to it as I am hot all the time. If I take everything off, I get arrested! It seems like it will easier to cover up and I will be able to wear pretty shawls and not be too hot in them!
  17. Thank you so much for posting your story. I plan to go next summer to Dr. Aceves and can't wait!!!
  18. Yes, my PCP is totally against it. However, one of my other doctor's actually suggested that I go to Mexico for the surgery! Go figure...
  19. Susan, my best friend is a nurse and I showed her the report. I don't want to post her feedback on the Internet, but she advised me to go elsewhere.
  20. Becky, Yes, I will be self-pay, too, as WLS is an exclusion in my medical insurance. I am looking for someone who is a good surgeon, reasonable price and with BLIS insurance. It seems to be hard to find someone with all those qualifications! I would really appreciate hearing the results of your research. If I find someone good, I will share with you, too.
  21. I have been considering Dr. Heider. However, he was sanctioned in June due to the death of an appendectomy patient. This worries me.
