  1. I have been on a 3-5lb back and forth for 5 weeks. All my fault because I have been eating without accountability and not getting in what I need.

Today is my day to buckle back down. U have lost 60lb since 2/4 but have another 40 to go to meet my goal.

  2. 7 weeks out and down 35lbs! I hit under 200 today! Never has 199 looked so good! I had a stall for a few weeks and was frustrated but once I increased my calories to 700-800 it really helped! My size 18 are baggy and my employees are asking often how much more have I lost. They notice weekly but I'm still having a hard time seeing it. I still see the 236 I use to be. Ready to notice the change.

  3. Hi

I had surgery 3/4. Since surgery I have been tracking everything MYFITNESSPAL app. I love it and would like to have friends in there I could get ideas from. Once you friend someone you can see what they have eaten that day. I have started to add solid foods back slowly. eggs, canned tuna, Grilled fish and over cooked veggies came first now adding grilled chicken, less cooked veggies etc.

I could use some ideas on whats next and would love to have some of you as friends there to see what everyone else is doing.

Tlhendley is my user name if anyone else is using it lets connect!

  4. I was sleeved on Feb16th. Things were going good until a few days ago. During my first 2 weeks after surgery I lost 20 pounds!! But since I started eating mushy foods 3 days ago' date=' I gained 2 pounds!!! I am a bit discouraged right now...not sure what to do about this.[/quote']

I am having same type of trouble. I was sleeved 3/4 and lost 10 and 12 Lbs the first 2 weeks. I

Have only lost 8 total since and I am almost 5 weeks out. I'm getting in my Protein and fluids. I was coming under 600 cal but all this week have done much better and still no loss!

  5. I sent my husband to get me some' date=' I tried the pineapple banana one, yuck. It reminded me if the test for diabetes when I was pregnant. At over 5 a pop I'm afraid to try the others. How do you get all the Protein in and Water needed? Protein shakes fill me up after 3 swallows. .

    Jana, sleeved 1/31/13[/quote']

Grape frost had been best but you can add a crystal light packet to help change the taste. I added Hawaiian punch to the punch one and it was much bettet

  6. I was sleeved on 2/14. Home yesterday. I'm a bit sore and a lot tired but nowhere near as bad as I expected. Anyone else freezing? Stairs have not been a problem for me.... AND 4oz is now SO MUCH MORE than I thought before surgery! :) Before surgery I thought "how am I going ton ONLY drink 8oz?" Now I'm thinking "How am I going to drink 4 oz?!" Lol!

    YES! Very COLD

I'm never cold so it's weird!

    I hope it goes away!

  7. I was sleeved on Feb 6th at 7:30 am

Very sick in hospital for two days . Discharged on Saturday. Don't see Doc for two weeks. On liquids for three weeks. However their liquids do include cream of wheat' date=' yogurt no fruit, pudding(I add protein) then three weeks of puréed food. On Monday started sleeping good. On Sunday and last night I only take pain med at night . I don't so good with getting all the liquid and Protein in. It's hard!!! I think I'm only getting in 30 - 40 grams of Protein. Have white tongue. Feel good , just can't get through eating or drinking enough.

My weight was 225 on surgery and 215 today. Hoping for no hair loss!!!!!

    Wish everyone to feel well[/quote']

I'm 8 day out today (4th) and having some of same. Only getting about 30-45g protein and 40-50oz fluids. I am sore inside still and my incision areas itch.

I did my surgery on MX so no follow up with dr for me except through email.

I'm tired and I know it's because I need to get more protein.

I bought Gummy Vitamins and they help with chewing!

232 before and am down 14lbs.

  8. Jesser' date=' I've followed your journey somewhat, and i think you should think about satisfaction rate and cost. With anything I buy, I don't go with the dirt cheap wannabe & I don't go with the top of the line best of the best either, and I didn't in this situation. (Well except for my blender, but it didnt set us back 10k either )

These are the prices I've seen.

    4,500 Almanza

4,700 (about to go up in may) Garcia

    5,500 pdl

    7,500 ortiz at OCC

    8,900 Alvarez and Aceves

These are the ones I'm aware of and I could be off on prices.

Basically, the more expensive choices are in big fancy hospitals and a lot of the cost is going toward that, not quality of surgeon necessarily. I think it'd be neat to have that be my experience, but honestly I don't want to wait Long enough to save that much and I don't think it's necessary. I'd rather buy my daughter braces, etc.

I have 6 children who need me. Not just one very special person that I love more than life itself, but SIX. This is not a decision that I made in haste.

I haven't heard an oz. of negative about the surgeon I chose. None. Maybe a bit of old news about mi doctor, but it was so minor and the issue has been fixed. I've read over and over about happy patients, my surgeons bed side manner, my coordinators etc. and I'm positive that I'm in good hands.

Honestly, yes, this is a very important life decisio,n but were not playing Russian roulette here. All of the surgeons I've read about are good surgeons, & it really boils down to your gut feeling and your heart.

For me personally, I was had it narrowed down to two surgeons. dr. Ponce de leon and dr. Fernando Garcia. This was when I had heard that garcias price was raising by 500 which at the time would put them only 300.00 less than pdl. I still chose Garcia. It just felt right. I watched the videos of both if them over and over an just let my heart speak for me. Garcia or was. And THEN I found out thy aren't raising their prices until may. BONUS!!! Lol

Pdl taught Garcia, Almanza and I believe kelly some techniques and for some that makes the feel safer going with pdl. Or me, I feel that that means they had a great teacher, not a crummy one. GREAT!

    Shrug

Are you still able to go in march?[/quote']

Dr Garcia was my doctor at mi doctor on Monday. I just got home last night and

Could not have been happier about my decision.

He and his staff were great and the cost was affordable. If I could have paid $7-8k I'd have just stayed in US.

  9. I was told that the Mi Doctor Hospital is actually a clinic. Not an actual hospital. One of the coordinators said that the word hospital is used loosely down there. I'm sure Mi Doctor is perfectly fine' date=' but I've thought for the longest time it was an actual hospital.[/quote']

I just returned from TJ last night had surgery on Monday at Mi Doctor. It is not like a new large city American hospital is but same feel as a small rural american hospital. It was clean, good equipment, experienced doctors and nurses that came within seconds of being called instead of minutes like some of the larger hospitals. It felt at ease the whole time.

  10. I am on the 2 week Pre Diet and doing 2 shakes and 1 meal a day. Honestly I am doing better than I thought I would. My only real cheat is that my dinner is low carb but not a salad. I am mostly meat and cheese. I already feel a little better!!

I found an oatmeal that has helped and i can also eat Post during mushy stage. It has been a lifesaver from just shakes. 100 cal 14g Protein 1g fat and 8 carbs. Profast apple and cinnamon the taste is pretty good.

What products have others found we should know about.

  11. Hey everyone! I just wanted to update everyone on my experience so far. I know on the roll call there were some questions about the Marriott' date=' so I will start there. We arrived on 1/21 and everyone was very helpful, I DID opt to give them my credit card number to hold for incidentals, but I believe this was optional. My total bill for the first night was 27, and that included Internet for my mom (the complimentary code is only good for me device, and I wanted her to be able to use her iPad as well), my moms room service breakfast (13) of an omelet, fruit plate, toast, coffee, and orange juice, and my mom buying a soda from the mini bar later that night. I didn't think 27 was unreasonable for all that.

Make sure to bring lots of 1 & 5 for tipping bell man, room service, and drivers. I tipped the drivers 5 per trip and bell man 3, room service tips obviously depend on the amount of your bill. We were instructed to be in the lobby at 10:15 am on 1/22 to go to the hospital (MiDoctor). The shuttle was very punctual and it only took us about 5-7 minutes to get there. Once inside we came to the third floor administration to turn in paperwork and were brought to our rooms. I used Ready 4 a Change and Melissa was waiting for us as soon as we got here. She is adorable and EVERYONE has been so friendly and helpful!

The only bad thing was that they couldn't get my IV in...and tried twice which hurt like hell. But Dr. velasco said they would just do it in the ERnafter I was put to sleep (fine by me!). The phlebotomist who took my blood draw was VERY good. I barely felt the stick. And she wore latex gloves the entire time. All of the nurses have been wearing gloves and using the hand sanitizer at the nurses station, I have seen them use is before entering each room.

Dr. Cabrera was awesome! So warm and friendly...and good looking, great personality! We walked me through everything regarding anesthesia. Dr. Garcia and Dr. Champos were more amazing then I could have hoped for. They were both soooo nice and patient. Dr. Champos speaks slightly better English, but I had no trouble at all understanding Dr. Garcia.

They took me in for surgery at 3pm and I was back in my room by 5pm, after spending a while in OR recovery. It took a while for the grogginess from the anesthesia to wear off and I had a good bit of gas sitting in my chest between my breasts that was REALLY uncomfortable. Felt like an elephant was sitting there. I walked the wing twice last night which really helped! I started burping gas up almost immediately. And today I have very little to no gas pain.

One this I have noticed is that the nurses here are very respectful. My assigned night nurse Dania was quiet as a mouse when she came in throughout the night to changensalinenbags and pain meds. She quietly asked me ow I was doing sodas not to wake my mom or disturb me too much from my sleepiness. I really appreciated it.

I also was able to make it the bathroom to pee on my own several times through the night, which I took as a good sign. I woke up early this morning (7ish) and am feeling really really good. No pain really at all. Took a long walk around the wing and am now settled back in bed. Think I might take a nap and then they are going to come help me shower. Looks like I will be doing the upper GI later today and then they will start me on ice chips as lngmas that comes back clear!

I will be sure to keep everyone posted through this thread as the week progresses!

Thanks for these details! I will be there next week my surgery date feb 4th and this really helps! Congrats on taking this step and much luck in your new journey!

  12. I checked in this morning and so far so good. I did have to pay an extra 8 for WiFi log on for my mom' date=' the included code you get is only good for one iPad/computer to log on. It wasn't a big deal for me, but can see how the misrepresentation of "wifi included" would definitely annoy others. The room service has been very attentive, we had them stock the in room refrigerator with waters and soda (for my mom). Haven't tried the Popsicles since Rosie told me not to have one tonight, I will definitely be trying some post op though! The broth downstairs was pretty good too. Guess we will see how things go when it is time to check out :). Checking in to the hospital tomorrow!

The hotel is very nice though, incredibly clean and the beds are very comfortable! The bathroom is super nice[/quote']

    Good luck!!!!!
