  1. I'm from airdrie and was sleeved 28th May in Tijuana by Dr Valenzuela. I feel great!! Lost 19lbs since day of surgery and haven't had any issues. Not sure whether my family Dr will treat me if I do have any as he wasn't on board when I mentioned that I was thinking of having this done. I'm so pleased that I did though!!!!

    Hi Kiwi63

Congrats on your decision in almost 3 months out and don't regret it for a moment!! I'm sure your doctor with treat you if need be - I haven't been to my family doc about te surgery and have had absolutely no issues. I went through AHS and had my surgery in Red Deer great team there for sure!! Keep me posted on your progress and if you need anything. Maybe we can meet one of these days - because I haven't been able to find any support group or anything here

  2. I think I'm going to buy it - it sounds great and I think post op / healthy choices going forward it will be utilized enough to compensate the cost. Thanks everyone for your thoughts and info!

  3. During all of my pre op testing my EKG came back abnormal. After several test with the cardiologist they discovered that I have a hole in my heart (heart murmur) and a irregular heart beat which the doctor prescribe medication for (Toprol).

I'm not really scared of the procedure itself but terrified that something will go wrong with my heart while under! The cardiologist said the risk is low to moderate' date='

Does anyone else have a similar situation?

Please share your thoughts fellow (soon to be ) sleevers.[/quote']

A few years ago my doctor also found a whole in my heart with an irregular blood flow. I was really nervous as I too have never been under. However, the cardiologist and anesthesiologist said that I am completely heathy. I am starting to do self injects of blood thinner a few days prior to surgery and 30 days after. I can't lie I'm a bit nervous but all the important people lol ur surgeron, cardio and anesthesiologist said ill be fine. Good luck I am sure you and me will be good :)

  4. Diet: In this diet u should use a measuring cup that my dietation gave me will send u a pic of it. No sweeteners allowed only brown sugar for use. Rule number one is to alternate food (i will be reffering to it by "or") so u cannot eat the same day the same item twice and the next day u are also obliged to eat another item. Alternating will boost ur metabolism and makes u lose weight fast. Rule number 2 u have to take ur Snacks it will also boost ur metabolism. Rule number three drink as much as u can Water all day long up to 2 litres. NB: this diet was given to me 2 weeks ago on the base of 96.8 kg my weight after 18 days is 86.8 kg. so I don't know if it will work with people who are more than 96 kg. NB : excuse me for my weak English I am originally French educated. The Diet: Breakfast : Milk + 1/2 glass of juice no sugar added no sweetener added Or 1 yoghurt non fat or 1 tbsp of lebanese labneh it's like petits suisses or French fromage blanc non fat Lunch: 1.5 cup of mashed veg. Soup or 1.5 cup of lentil soup also blended or 1.5 cup of non fat Yoghurt or ayran yoghurt snack 1: after exactly one hour of lunch u should drink green tea it helps burning the fat. Snack 2: 1 fruit mashed or pressed or 1 piece of dark chocolate or 1/2 cup of yoghurt Dinner: 3/4 cup of pudding she gave me a list of Lebanese pudding that u can find on google :) such as mohalabiyé written also mhalbiyé / sahlab/ moughli moghli or 1 backed potato or 1/2 cup of mashed rice mixed with 1/2 cup of non fat yoghurt or 1.5 cup of veg. Soup or 3/4 cup of Lebanese mdardra/ mojadara (lentil based dishes that u can also find on google) Some indication: 1) personally I couldn't eat more than half of the quantity given to me I try to eat the quantity within one hour I stop. 2) personally i take my last meal at 7 pm maximum. 3) I also avoid salt even my ayran yoghurt I buy it without salt 4) I stick to fresh juices apple and pineapple and I mix it with water. 5) I heat my milk with cinnamon 6) please do look up the recipes of the Lebanese dishes I mentioned coz they are really healthy and easy to do. 7) my dietation advised me to walk up to 40 min a day 8) i know i am so strict on myself but i really want to have a killer body before summer and beach time. 9) When I go out I drink my Nescafé gold coffee with a non fat coffee mate 10) good luck

    Hi damdoum,

    Are you smoking any shisha?

  5. I think this forum is great for us all to share out thoughts and concerns about this surgery. I have to say that I wasn't concerned at all about any of the risks. I have read horror stories on here as well' date=' but I've also read many more success stories. When I was at the hospital, everyone (even my doctor) kept commenting on how calm I was. I think my head was on the end result, learning to eat better and being thin again. I think if you follow the doctors instructions to a tee, then you reduce the complications, which is what I did. I was sleeved 02/11/13 and started back at work today. I could have gone back on Friday, but decided to take it off since Monday was a holiday for me. =) I got on the treadmill today and was able to do half the workout that I normally do. Besides following the doctors instructions, don't push yourself beyond your body's limits and I think all will turn out well.[/quote']
