amylu got a reaction from Punkin in FEBRUARY SLEEVERS 2013....how you doing after you've been Sleeved
I came home from the hospital today. So far, I have been doing pretty well. I have been able to drink fluids without any problems. My doctor has actually cleared me for full liquids already. I have had a few sips of broccoli and cheese Soup. I am feeling a little off kilter today. Part of me is still in shock that I actually had the surgery!

Wow. You are very close to me at 170. I hover around 162-165 at 5 months out. I am 5 ft 8. My goal is 160. My son says I am too skinny now...ha.
I am a visiting nurse, so I eat on the run in the am, a dunkin donuts Breakfast wrap, coffee and a bottle of Water for Breakfast. lunch is a Protein shake an 2 baby bell cheeses, or a piece of summer sausage, or tuna...usually about 3 ounces and 16 ounces of Water with mio. For dinner, I cook all sorts of stuff. Ethnic stuff like rice and Beans, steak or chicken or pork chops, i might cook cheese tortolini, i eat out and have 1/2 an appetizer, a small slice of pizza. Sounds like the wrong stuff, but the portions are small, calories less, and I do only have a few bites of carbs. I eat much much less volume, but I eat what I want, makes me very happy. I decided not to make myself crazy with measuring. Occasionally I do over do it, but its a reminder what my limits are. I work out 1 1/2 hrs 4-5 times a week. And drink 60 punces of water a day. Always a Protein Shake daily to slow the hair loss. i take vit B12 sublingual and daily chewables.< /p>
. Everyone does it differently. Some are more , let's say diligent, with measuring grams of Protein and and milliliters of water, and scream if you say you eat rice or Pasta, and then there are those like me, who don't come on the boards as much anymore, who continue to enjoy foods, within limits, As long as I lose weight, even slowly, when I reach 160, I will be happy. I don't eat m and ms any more, no icecream or soda. I don't eat processed stuff and try to say in the healthy zone. that alone has made a huge impact in my life. Good luck on your journey.

I've been down too; I swear if it wasnt for this app, I might've lost my mind already. It really helps to hear from others going through this. My husband tries to be susupportive but he really has no idea. I was sleeved the 14th and honestly was not as prepared for this life change as I thought I was. I know that my 23lb loss is great, but Ive already platoed for like 4 days and feel like I should be down another 10 by now atleast! I mean really i'm not eating like anything!!

I was sleeved on 2/12. All of my incisions have been healing up very well. I think that I have pushed myself a little too hard, because last night I felt like I had pulled something in that lower right incision. It is hard underneath as well. It scared me a little, and reminded me that I am not 100% healed yet, even though I feel like I am. I have my first post-op appt. on Wed, so I'll be able to get it looked at, but I hope I didn't hurt anything!

Don't be too hard on yourself. Sometimes you have to get things out of your system. Now you know how you will feel, and in the future you might limit yourself to one piece of bread with your salad. Hang in there!

I had this very same thing last week. I thought I was going nuts! It felt like constant hunger pains! I am on 40 mg of omeprazole a day. I took a zantac, and I took tums, and none of it seemed to help. When I called my surgeon, his PA told me to go ahead and add refried Beans, and yogurt to my diet. (I was one week post-op) That did the trick. I think it all started after my first BM since surgery. All of the sudden it was like everything woke up, you know?

Dana for years, prior to WLS of course
DH would say to me - "i want some popcorn", lets go to the movies
doc gave me "permission" to have popcorn a few months post op (sorry, don't remember when)
now when DH and i go to the movies he will still have his GIGANTIC tub of BUTTERED popcorn!!!!
(he knows he needs to loose about 75 lbs, but he doesn't have the will or the motivation )
i will get a plain SMALL popcorn (i luck out, not big on butter, NEVER butter on popcorn)
i know movie popcorn is not the healthiest, and i know i COULD bring from home some better popcorn
    but..... i don't want to
the "mental" aspect of having movie popcorn is great for me
for home, i will buy a box of orville redonbocker small popcorn bags that have 100 calories , never have a problem with digestion
i know, i know, too many carbs - but as a treat on an occasion - popcorn won't kill me!!!
tomorrow going to movies - bruce willis die hard sequil
    woo hoo - popcorn city

I think the best deterrent is the back lash we get from our new tummies! Like my dr told me...if it hurts..don't do it again! Simple, but true! Just get back on target & you'll be fine, we all give in to our weaknesses every once in awhile!

I had my surgery on Tuesday as well, and I feel like my stomach has finally started going down. Feeling really good today. I'm ready to get out of the house. Tired of laying around watching tv. Thinking about going to get a pedicure.

amylu reacted to goldenraisin214 in One year, 71 pounds down
    Hi all,
I promised I would post when I reached 12 months out, so here it is...I started out at 240 (highest) and lost 4lbs on the pre op diet. My last weigh in was 169, for a total loss of 71 pounds in a year. I'm very happy with that, and the last few months have been slower in terms of loss, but it's still coming off, so I can't really complain. My birthday was on 2/14 and my husband surprised me with a birthday/valentine's day/belated honeymoon (we got married in 2009) trip to Kauai this past week, and I gained about 3.5lbs, but it was worth it! I'm already back on track with my eating and working out, so I'm sure that vacation weight will be gone in no time. My ultimate goal is to get down to 140, but I'm starting to wonder if that's realistic...I'm attaching a few pics for your enjoyment --thanks for reading!

I have smoked since I was 14 years old, a pack a day. I am now almost 40. I honestly thought that this would be the thing that prevented me from having this surgery, because I didn't think that I could do it. First, I told myself that it was temporary, that I wasn't necessarily quitting for good (just for my psyche). Second, I ordered some e-cigarettes (V2 brand) with non nicotine cartridges, and then I braced myself. The first two days were really tough. I could tell that I was chemically withdrawing from the nicotine. I cried a lot. After that, I promise it became so much easier. It was so surprisingly easy, I still can't believe it. And to be honest, I was soooo proud of myself that I want to continue to not smoke. I have only been off of them for a little over a month, but I am feeling great. I had my surgery on Tues. the 12th, and I am doing great! I miss cigarettes, but not so much that I want to start up again. Hope this helps!

Also here are a few fun facts about what happens after you quit
    * In 20 minutes you will have a decrease in blood pressure, and it should return to normal.

    * In 8 hours, the levels of toxic carbon monoxide will return to normal.

    * In 48 hours, most of the nicotine will leave your body, and the risk of heart attack will greatly decrease.

    * In 2 weeks, circulation will return, and continue to get better.

    * In three to nine months your lung capacity will get better.

    * In 1 year, the dangers of heart attack will be reduced by half.

    * In 5 years your risk of having a stroke returns to that of a non-smoker.

    * In 10 years the risks of lung cancer will return to that of a non-smoker.

    * In 15 years your risk of heart attack will have returned to that of a non-smoker.
My sense of smell and taste returned after quitting as well, it was great.

I just came home today too. Surgery was on Tue. I have had no nausea or vomiting. My discomfort is probably a 3. My stomach feels like it is cramping from time to time but I'm having no real problem with my Water or shake as long as I take little sips. The gas pain was a real.... pain! I walked and walked in the hospital with no real relief. Not until a rough ride home through Maine potholes did I have a .... umm... release.
