    Feel crummy in the AM

I didn't have a hard time in the mornings but my NUT told me that could happen. She said that other patients reported that their sleeve almost felt tight in the mornings. As for the intake, you are still early out so give it more time and it will get easier It's like a full time job in the beginning. I'm 3 months out and I can get in 70-100 g of Protein a day now.

    Smoking !

First question they asked me was if I smoked anything at all. Something about ulcers in your new stomach. But I truly don't know the answer aside from the obvious that you already know. Sorry

    Sleeved april 8th

I was 4/16 and I've lost 44 if I don't include the ten on my preop diet. There was a 2 week pause (I hate to say stall because my pants got looser) on the scale and then I dropped 7 pounds the next week. I don't expect the weight loss to be as rapid now. You sound good to me!
  5. This exactly. Of course, I forgot to mention that I don't work, I stay home with kids. I don't have the burden of the workplace and what-not so those that I told were friends. I would think that I would lean more towards keeping it private as well if I had to work. The sad part is that anyone has to worry about being judged. We're judged for being fat, we're judged for having surgery .... it's kind of lose-lose. Back in the day when weight wasn't an issue I had a co-worker that had gastric bypass. People talked but no one said anything bad. My point though ... they still talk regardless because they can. A workplace with women is especially bad IMO.

    Nine days post-op

I've had days of terrible headaches and they always make me nervous. I found that more Protein took the headache right out so that's when I started tracking it and closely following how much I was really getting (not saying you don't do that but I was underestimating big time). It could be a tension headache or it could be needing more liquids/protein. It's so hard to know. But headaches are never fun I hope it passes for you soon! The fatigue is normal and you need to rest as much as you can. Your body is trying to recover from some serious trauma. Plus, it's summer and you just got filled with lots of IV fluids so the Water retention is going to fluctuate here and there. It will keep coming off! Don't be afraid to call your doc if those headaches are unbearable.

    Consequences of no protein

They aren't bad. I tend to break them in half and use them as a snack 2x instead of one large chunk.

    Food tastes yucky

I went through phases of enjoying eating and not enjoying eating. But it's important to get the protein in so I just found that if I made my own I enjoyed it more. I can't stomach another egg atm so I have a shake every morning for breakfast LOL
  10. I told people. How else was I going to explain a 50+ weight loss in such short times. If I say healthy eating and exercise it's still way too much and would be classified as the unhealthy way. I'm proud that I did the surgery and I don't really care what they have to say. But I don't run around yelling it on roof tops.

    Consequences of no protein

There may not be obvious side effects now but the Protein helps you heal and helps you keep your muscle in tact. I am to get 60-80 g a day so 40 isn't so far off but I would definitely try to bump it up. If you don't like shakes there are Premier Protein bars with 30 g of protein in it. They have a nice chunk of calories too but it's a decent go-to meal.

    Depressed

it's all completely normal. you are hitting the stall that most people come on here searching for answers about. it will pass and the weight will come off. Keep up the good work!

  15. That's how I felt after my csections. I didn't have a hard time after WLS surgery but if it's similar in any way with the getting up/down and the pain (feeling like you are sawed in half) I completely sympathize for you because it's an awful, awful feeling. I hope it passes quickly for you. Do you have some pain meds you can take? The swelling will go down over the next couple of weeks and your swallowing will get better. Hang in there!

Stage 2 diet, What do you order at a Restaurant?

Well it depends on the restaurant. I don't go anywhere without looking at nutritional information online first. At Texas Roadhouse they have an oven roasted chicken and I get a side of unsweetened applesauce. I really can only eat the leg and a few bites of apple sauce so I bring it home. I also had their portabello mushroom chicken (very tender) but it comes in 8 oz so the calories/fat went down greatly with the portion you can actually eat. At Red Lobster I had the stuffed flounder with green beans but only ate about 1/2 of the fish it was so filling. So that's all I've had going out. I have done zero fast food aside from 1/2 of a small chili from Wendy's. Not sure it's very helpful, sorry.
  17. *Hugs* That sounds miserable being on a preop diet for that long especially not having an official surgery date in site. I felt awful on the preop diet ... so tired and lethargic, moody ... and mine was only 10 days. All I can say is that after surgery it does get better. BTW, have you thought of making your own shakes? I find them much more filling and tasty than the bottled ones. I cannot stomach any of them canned anymore. Designer whey has a french vanilla powder and Syntrax/Matrix has a whole variety of powders (can get a sample pack). Believe me, if they taste bad to you now, they will taste even worse after surgery. Edit: I was 270 on surgery date and I'm 5' 8 1/2" (I have to add that half inch in because I was 5' 9")

    isnt it funny?

Well said! When people ask me how I did it and I tell them I had surgery I almost feel the need to say it wasn't an easy way out. I guess I feel like they will think that which is probably more my problem than theirs. All of my healthy, skinny friends love that I did this to better myself. It's the ones that aren't that are judgmental the most. Jealous maybe? It's not like it's an easy way out.

    POST-op lab work ?

Good question. I was wondering if mine would do lab work as well since they did a ton (on 2 separate occasions) pre surgery and while I was in the hospital. They were even checking my blood sugar levels in the hospital although I'm not diabetic.

    Pain

Try to powder that area to keep it dry.

    isnt it funny?

I had a dad at my daughters school approach me because he overheard me talking about it to a friend. He wanted to let me know that it's wrong to do that to our bodies and he'd gladly work with me on nutrition and offer me the Vitamins he sells. Coming from the guy that has no room to talk about weight and he has the nerve to say that. Then I had another friend that every time the surgery came up she had to mention her treadmill or show me pictures of her friend that lost weight exercising and dieting. It was becoming quite uncomfortable. I still see her and she says how good I look and doesn't say much anymore but I have a hard time forgetting sometimes. But, overall, I found most of the people around me to be quite supportive. But yes, it's hard to believe that people can do so many things to their bodies to make themselves feel beautiful but they criticize weight loss surgery. It's a backwards world.
  22. It's summer, it's hot and you are outside in it I would get extra water in if you can, give it a week and I'm sure it will pass. I have fluctuated a few times, never more than a few pounds, but it does come back off.

    No coffee?Whaaaa?

Let us know how it works out. I'm afraid I'll bounce off the walls if I have a full strength of coffee again. Or possibly sweat it all out LOL I use to go through a pot of coffee a day!

    Coke

I just don't have enough hours in the day to balance eating and drinking only to waste an hour of it on soda that won't count towards my hydration LOL

    stalls?

You lose the most the first month or so. I lose about 2-2.5 pounds a week now. I'll take it. It's nothing to sneeze at.
