    Nine days post-op

Don't be too hard on yourself. Getting 60 g of protein in already is awesome. Our bodies have to pause and say .. What the hell is going on???!!! .... then when it loses the fight the weight falls back off.

    Consequences of no protein

I picked up some Biotin today. Here's to hoping! If not, at least I have a lot of hair to lose LOL

    protein..4 days post op

I had a hard time with the chocolate flavors (my stomach is just now allowing the chocolate flavors) so I tend to use EAS 100% Whey vanilla, Designer Whey French Vanilla, I've bought sample packets from Syntrax Matrix that were good and Target has a generic vanilla form also that is 100% Whey with 23 g of Protein in one scoop, and I just picked up a Body Fortress Cookies N Creme but that's for when I crave a sweet treat. I have a really hard time drinking the pre-made stuff now but, in the beginning, out of desperation, I would do 1/4 c. premier with 1/4 c. 1% milk. If I thinned it out it helped a lot. I would sip on that for 30+ minutes, ugh. (The caps on the premier help a lot for reusing later) I also stumbled upon this stuff called PB2 and chocolate PB2 and I use a small amount in my smoothies sometimes for flavor. It tastes just like Peanut Butter but very little fat and calories. Also, if you want pre-made EAS AdvantEDGE is suppose to be good.

    Started on real food!

The fried food probably won't even smell good anymore. Your tummy just isn't going to like certain things. If I have to eat at fast food I look for a Wendy's and have a bit of their chili. Good luck this weekend and try to relax and enjoy it

    protein..4 days post op

It's awesome! It will get easier, promise! I still do one protein shake a day for breakfast but I enjoy it (it's my mocha java one). Post op is like a bad dream from a long time ago.

    Consequences of no protein

I'm taking everything under the moon BUT Biotin ... 80-100 g of Protein a day ... hair falling out in disgusting, awful clumps, ugh! Maybe it's worth a shot.

    Just a question.

My doctors recommend 2-3 weeks ... not for physical reasons but the time consuming drudge of balancing your water and protein in the beginning. That's a job in itself.

    protein..4 days post op

You won't get it in much at this stage. I can just now reach 80-100 and I'm at 3 months post op. I was lucky to get 20 in at that point in time. I focused on water first then protein second. It was an ALL day job where I felt like I was staring at the clock the whole time!
  11. Off topic warning: Get this one: My mother is worried about me and the surgery (of course, it's surgery) so she used her old co-worker, since they were working in the hospitals a lot, to come and check on me the day after surgery! (My mother moved back in January) A woman I have never ever met, had no idea who was walking into my room and stayed for about 30 minutes doing laps with me in the hall way. I was too tired to be real angry because I know her heart was in the right spot but COME ON ...... don't send a stranger to me when I'm hooked up to a catheter with my butt flapping out of a hospital gown to socialize with me! My husband was pretty angry but he was too busy with the kids to really focus in on it. I told her it was awkward to say the least and left it at that.
  12. No idea about the tingling but I'm glad it's a smooth recovery so far!
  13. The people that know in my life are my support system. It includes a few friends and some family. I didn't tell my whole family (but I didn't tell them not to share the news) so they did tell other people. In the end, I would rather have their support than not. I think support systems are very important after this surgery. This doesn't mean confiding in every person one comes into contact with though.

    Should have done this sooner...

I'm so sorry to hear about all the other issues. Hopefully there is a light at the end of the tunnel and you can live pain free again. Hang in there! You have your whole life ahead of you and you are doing everything to make the most out of it already! Kudos to you!

I want to evict my belly

Some people's skin bounce back and some don't. I would keep an eye on it and have your doctor document it every time you go in so that way, if the time ever comes, you can have insurance cover a skin removal process. Here's to hoping it bounces back

    My first time vomitting today

Sleeve is notorious for acid reflux and most doctors put us on medicine for an amount of time after. Are you on an acid reflux medicine by chance? They may have to change it or up the dosage if you are and they should start one if you aren't. Was this your first time having a boiled egg? Some things don't sit as well as before. Sorry you threw up Awesome weight loss!

    Drinks.....

They all say something different. Mine is 15 mins prior, 20-30 mins to eat, 30 mins after .....

    Feeling guilty!

I'm so happy I was allowed to actually eat real, albeit limited, foods on my preop diet and not live off shakes. I had a shake with every meal but that was accompanied with food. Kudos to you because it isn't easy at that point in time. High in Protein is good ... it's the high in fat part that they don't want because they want the liver to shrink. I was allowed certain snack foods so since yours is stricter you are probably fine. What they told me was that I actually had to lose weight on the preop diet. If I didn't lose then I didn't get my surgery. Post op is also all liquid diet but it actually filled me up and I didn't feel hungry so I found post op to be much easier than preop. Don't beat yourself up over it. Do your best! Good luck!

    I'm a little hurt..

Wowzers. What a way to be supportive! Some people just can't hold their tongues. They think they are being funny when they aren't.

    Drinks.....

You know yourself best. If you don't want it at the table then there you go. We aren't here to appease them. I usually get a water or unsweetened tea and have a sip or two then I ask for a to-go cup LOL That's when you get strange faces ... a to-go cup of tea
