    POP?!

Like others said, it's all about the carbonation. The nurse gave me an actual visual of soda. She shook a bottle really hard and put a balloon on the end. The balloon actually filled up from all the carbonation coming out of the soda. She said to imagine that in your stomach. If I did have to drink soda it needed to be flat. Not that soda is great flat but if it's the taste you crave maybe have a flat one?

    weight gained back

The lap band scares me. I don't want something left in my body with a port. But, on the other hand, the sleeve is what we make of it. If we go back to eating like before then yes the weight will come back. This is the time I want to get into a good exercise pattern, good eating habits and make it work. It's not magic ... we still have to do it. Secretary at my kids school was saying she doesn't believe in the surgery because she had 2 family members do it and one gained back all her weight and the other is still doing ok. Immediately I asked why she gained her weight back and she said she went back to her old eating habits. /shrug I'm going to take a guess that the gastric bypass patients do a bit better because of the dumping. LOL At least, in my mind, that's the reasoning. Who wants to throw up all the time?!
  4. You are ok. Don't panic. You will go up and down a few pounds until your body readjusts and then it will start dropping off. It could be anything from water retention to heat. It will come back off though. It's hard to trust our bodies but we must try!

Question about 1 WLS per lifetime.....

Ugh that stinks I have federal BCBS and I honestly have no idea if it's a one WLS rule or not. I was too afraid of the band.

    Five days post-op & STARVING

My stomach made lots of noises too but I never felt hungry. Do you actually feel hungry or going off the noises being made? I had to really zone it out sometimes and listen to my head. Not sure if that makes any sense.

    Hot!

I'm the opposite, always cold now a days. First thing that came to mind was hormonal fluctuations after surgery. Can't say for sure though, sorry. Hope it passes soon!

    Salad?

I can eat salad again at 3 months. I'm sure others have different rules.

    Well it happened

I had my first stall at 9 weeks. It lasted 2 weeks. Now I'm losing a pound a day since. Very strange to me. I didn't lose it that quickly pre-stall.

    Breastfeeding

That's a hard one. I would worry more about him laying on you after surgery more so than the nursing. There was someone else here that was nursing and had surgery and kept on nursing. She needed way extra water and to up some of her calories but the doc said she could keep nursing.

It gets better! Hang in there!

    scared

I just got into a 20 but I don't know how long I have in them since the scale is really moving right now. I don't want to buy clothes for 2 weeks LOL So I have about 2 options or just really old shorts for now.

    is this normal?

Drinking fluids with a meal interferes with the digestion process and will wash away what little nutrients we have going into our stomachs.
  14. I just went through that. I kept on doing the same and bumped up the calories a few times.

    No longer obese!

Nice! I need to lose 30 more pounds for that! Can't wait!
  16. I was worried but I actually like my hair more at the moment. I have ALOT of thick hair and it helped thin it some. After my kids my hair almost changed textures. I would say, for me, it was a similar hair loss though. My loss seemed to come on earlier than what most people report here. I'm ten weeks tomorrow and I've already lost a ton of hair and I get my daily protein in, almost 80g a day and take my vitamins.

    Hubby gets a shout out!

I just passed my husband this week. He said, great you weigh less than me now. YIPPEEE went through my mind. I SHOULD weigh less than you. you are 6' with muscles.
  19. Don't rule out Water weight post surgery. You retain so much from the IV's, etc. It can take a long time to work it's way out. Try not to fret ... you have no choice but to lose weight. Edit: Try not to compare with others although I know it's hard. So many different factors are there as to one's weight loss over anothers

    Eatin more before your period

I had an ablation so I don't actually bleed but I still go through the hormonal waves/bloating/cravings. Unfortunately, I never know that's what's going on until the time passes. I can start to tell when I'm eyeing cookies at the grocery store or thinking about how to add sweets in. Grease/sweets use to be my go-to PMS food. It's not quite as bad now but the sweet tooth is starting to rear it's ugly head again.

    Husband Spying on Me

Is he using these drugs or making them? Regardless, I wouldn't want my kiddo around it. Before you know it she'll know how to open the fridge and you wouldn't want her tasting something she shouldn't. When did you notice these changes? Maybe it's the drugs making him act this way. Videotaping against anyone's knowledge is a huge personal violation, married or not!
