  1. I don't know what's wrong with me right now. I'm feeling sad. I know it is all about mental strength and will power. But sitting here at Panera' date=' studying, and occasionally glancing at people eating their delicious sandwiches makes me jealous. I jealously cuss them out in my head. I tell my parents when I get sad but they are absolutely no help. They simply say well you are the stupid one you did this to yourself! :( they are right... I paid to get my sleeve and now Im regretting it. I lost 15 lbs on my own just with working out and hi prot low carb diet...

Will I ever be able to eat half a sandwich with ease again ? That is my question..

I had surgery may 15. I started week 2 of my liquid diet. I ordered Broccoli Cheddar and asked them to sift out the solids, I had about 4 tablespoons and my tummy hurts. I thought i could get away with the creamy Soup since its low cal, but i guess not. I'm feeling like I regret getting sleeved. I'm in a slump. Any advice.[/quote']

You will be able in time to eat some what normal. You will be able to eat almost half a sandwich. Broccoli is very hard on your stomach, I am three months out and I have only eaten broccoli twice. You need to give yourself and your stomach time to heal. It is a process that we all most walk through .I know that you want to eat normal, but take it slow. Some of the Soups I tried did not do well with. Tomato based Soups did not set well with me. You might want to stick with broth based soups starting out. My taste for foods also changed you may have to try alot of your favorite foods before you find something you can enjoy.

  2. hello...

wow.. we were sleeve on the SAME DAY!!.. i havent tried anything pureed yet' date=' but this evening i did try a steamed piece of tilapia and it was extremely to eat and was actually good.. even though it took me 2 hours to eat 4oz fish, I did take my time and chewed very slowly.

during this process, the most important thing that I am learning is to "listen to my body".. I didnt understand it at first, but with each day im learning so much more...

another filling food is the dannon "okios" greek yogurt.. its very very good...

i wish you continued success on this journey.. each day is a learning process for you (and me) but the end results will be WORTH IT... :-)

I like the Dannon as well, but not the 100 calorie version it has a weird after taste. I also ate a lot of baked Beans in the puree stage those seemed to go down well. I mushed them instead of pureeing them, the texture of the Beans has a lot to do with the taste. I pureed chili in a blender once it was awful.

  3. It took me a while to realize that I did not have to fill stuffed to be full.I am three months out and now my stomach tells me before I am stuffed, it gives a big noise when it is satisfied and when I am super stuffed, I hiccup three times and my nose will start to run just a little. You have to learn to listen to your body and it will just take time.

  4. Hey - I appreciate it because I have no idea what that will be like. How many ounces of Water is a sip?

On a completely different topic' date=' does anyone know how to add pictures or files?

Also, as to what you say to others. I'd say something like:

    1) If I tell you, I'd have to kill you.

    2) I'd tell you, but I'm afraid you'd lose all desire to eat.

    3) If you really want to know, I can give you the name of my drug dealer.

    4) They're having a biggest loser contest at ... work ... church ... in my family ... in my neighborhood ... and I wanna win first place, which is a trip to Hawaii for 2. Maybe I'll bring one of you along.

    5) Thank you for noticing. I really appreciate that kind of support![/quote']

I have a water bottle that has the ounces marked on it that helps me track how much I have drank for the day.

  5. I would wait until after your surgery to buy large quantities of Protein. After my surgery, the protein that I bought before my surgery I could not stomach so be careful what you buy, because your tastes may change. I could not stand anything orange flavored, especially the orange flavored Calcium citrate.Disgusting.

  6. What is your best non-scale victory post surgery? I went to Marshall's today and bought Xl shirts off the rack and I did not have to shop in the big and tall section of the store. Woo hoo!!! I can now find shirts that look good and are not a after thought on what material should I use to cover this big boy up with. I think someone shout create a clothing line that looks good for people of size.

  7. I hated them as well, the thought of a Protein Drink made want to throw up. I asked my doctor about this and he said not to worry about it in the beginning we would get the Protein in some other way. I think it has to do with the medicine they use to put you to sleep with. I could tolerate Protein Drinks again at about a month out. Then the weight began to fall off.I would be cautious about buying these in bulk until you try some that you think you may be able to tolerate. I have found that for myself I like the fruity flavors better. I also like vanilla and strawberry from GNC. I do not like chocolate protein drinks at all. Our tastes change a bit after surgery. I also like some of the protein bars, but that will come later.

  8. The first two to three weeks are really hard. You may be coming off caffeine or just adjusting to how little food you are taking in.I had a few headaches in the beginning. I do not think the classes and doctors really prepare you for what you are in for mentally, especially when you get to the puree stage and how much your tastes will change after surgery it was very hard for me to figure out what I can eat. For the first week or two I actually removed myself from the table and that helped. I am not judging, but it sounds like your husband needs to step up and cook his own dinner. I just recently went back to cooking for the family and is a change. You will have to go with your family at some point and watch them eat while you are drinking liquids. I know it is hard, but you can do it. In the second week I thought to myself what have I done, when I got to the mushie stage I felt like I could eat somewhat normal again. It takes time and it is a process that we all must walk through. In the solid food stage you will eat two or three bites and you will be full. One good thing is that you will save a lot of money on food. Hang in there and know that you can do this. It is not an easy process, but it will be worth it in the end.
