  1. Hey Pam, Just wanted to add my voice to the throng... I'm so sorry.
  2. wait, you only gained 5 pound from being on a cruise? ONLY 5 POUNDS???? That is WONDERFUL!!! And you had a F-A-B time too from the sounds of it. WOOT! Sounds like a Double NSV to me. Jenn, Baby-doll, this is not a set back. Really it's not. Let's put some perspective on this. Preband how much would you have gained? 15 pounds? I mean, seriously without your band, how much would you have gained? I've never been on a cruise, but I've seen pictures of the buffets, of the spreads.... lottsa food, right? You've lost 60-plus pounds with your band. This is no time to freak out. You just need some perspective. Now, just think how much fun you will have next time you go on cruise after you are that much closer to your goal. Strength and Courage!
  3. This is one reason why I won't fly Southwest. It would be one thing if they were discrete about it, but they seem to take delight in humilation. I hate the whole rush to your seat thing, and when they kicked off the woman for wearing a "Bush Sucks" tee-shirt... well, not gonna fly them...
  4. Hi Bitter, frequently people plateau. And usually when they are doing this their body is busy "re-packing." Right now, you are under a lot of stress, and yes, stress has a huge impact on your weight loss as well. Stress releases cortisol, and cortiosl is the "fight or flight" hormone, and it's one of your body's denfense in times of famine. Try to not stress about it. I know, easier said than done. Are you tracking your inches or just your pounds? What about your NSVs? are you tracking them as well? Sometimes when the scale doesn't move the NSVs just come in droves, and the inches fall off.

  7. I refuse to wear pantyhose either. And no one is big enough, or bad enough to make me wear them, either. So there. HAH.
  8. When Michael J. Fox spoke for Arlin Specter ® limbaugh didn't accuse Fox of being a shill for Specter. It is terrible to have a disease and to be mocked and accused of being a lier, a charalitan or worse.
  9. We don't need the police to be the enforcers of morality. That's why we have mothers and aunts.
  10. Hurray! Hurray for New Jersey! If it only had religious overtones then it would be different, but it is a legal contract having to do with property rights. ...

I don't know enough about parkinson's I guess. I thought it was a body thing as opposed to brain (cognitive) thing.
  12. Sonofa... Oh Carrie! ((((hugs)))) I'm sorry! I've come to this thread late. I'm getting a real attitude lately about snotty doctors and their snotty office staff... I thought they were supposed to be compassionate?!
  13. (((((Kryssa)))) oh no! not a burn. They take forever to heal.. but you know that. Did you need grafs? (graphs?) I hope you didn't have to deal with infections.. You poor thing! Right, it's time for you to start demanding answers from other doctors. Get your PCP to get you a referal to an Endocryinologiost or an internist. Do not settle on "metabolic X" or some other "we don't know answer." Just because doctors have MD behind their name doesn't mean they know everything. I was in the ER last night for one of my killer headaches. The ER doc basically said I was a lier, and that Cyclical Cushing's doesn't exisit... Well, he's not an Endo, he's not an Endo that specialized in Cushing's and he sure as heck doesn't live in my body. all you slow losers, FIGHT! DO NOT TAKE THIS LYING DOWN. you know somethings wrong, don't let some fool who's seen you for all of 15 minutes tell you otherwise. Do not go quietly into the dark! Cherg, "first bite syndrom" is when we take our first bit and then we are too tight to eat any more. Sometimes we get stuck and slime or worse. You will find all of our jargon http://lapbandtalk.com/forumdisplay.php?f=73 here
  14. Nope, the band doesn't help at all. But, it did lead me there, because I probably would have never found the Cushing's without it though. I would have been dismissed as "fat and lazy." Forever. But I'm used to doctors dismissing my health concerns becuse I'm fat. I had a collasped lung that they diagnosed as "fat." Part of the biggest problem with Cushing's is that the main symptom is OBESITY. If you are fat, it's your own damn fault, you've been over eating and under excersizing, and you need to take ownership, whatever that means... I was told that it was NORMAL to gain 25 pounds in a week. Sure if you are a pregnant elephant... I gained 50 pounds one summer, and I was told it was because I was upset because my husband was on sea duty. (I didn't change my eating habbits or my excersize) Just because doctors have MD behind their name doesn't mean they know everything. I was in the ER last night for one of my killer headaches. The ER doc basically said I was a lier, and that Cyclical Cushing's doesn't exisit... Well, he's not an Endo, he's not an Endo that specialized in Cushing's and he sure as heck doesn't live in my body. BeecheeGirl, and all you slow losers, FIGHT! DO NOT TAKE THIS LYING DOWN. you know somethings wrong, don't let some fool who's seen you for all of 15 minutes tell you otherwise. Do not go quietly into the dark!
  15. Beachee, honey, the first endo said the SAME THING!!! I fired him, and went to another one who found my pit tumor and confirmed my Cushing's. Fire his butt and find another one. You do NOT have to take their smerking patronizing attitude. Fire him and find another one. If that one can't help, then fire that one. NEVER GIVE UP, NEVER SURRENDER!
  16. Well, I'm still here, more or less. Dunno why... sometimes I feel like I'm beating my head against a brick wall...
  17. Hurray! It’s almost NANOWRIMO time! The most magical month of all! Okay, so that might be a little hyperbole. But not by much.... I mean, not only do we have nanowrimo, but we have Halloween, Thanksgiving, Yule and Christmas! Then New Years! I’m hoping that I get to get cured of Cushing’s too, which will make it even more magical and special! For those of you who don’t know: National Novel Writing Month is a fun, seat-of-your-pants approach to novel writing. Participants begin writing November 1. The goal is to write a 175-page (50,000-word) novel by midnight, November 30. I don't know about the page thing, but according to the way I write and Word, that's only 4 pages a day, and I can do that easy! I found out about it last year from my friend Lori, about 5 hours from the start. I wasn’t able to finish, mostly due to my life imploding from the Cushing’s. This was pre-diagnosis. Mind you, I don’t know if I’ll be able to finish my November Masterpiece, but I’m going to give it a go. I'm astounded at the number of folks who've got titles and covers, and character sheets... All I've got are squirrels and two disasters... But perhaps I've said too much already...
  18. My 1992 Saturn S gets about 28 mpg city driving. My last trip down to Portland I got 38 mpg. Automatic. With AC in the Summer mostly because of road construction, pollen and my asthma. It gets worse gas mileage when I forget my gas cap at the gas station though. I have about 175,000 miles on that baby.
  19. Bella, I don't have any idea about what to tell you about your hair question either. Sorry. Susan, it sounds like you haven't had a fill at all, let alone a decent fill! If he couldn't pull out any, my money is on there wasn't any there. And I only be on sure things. Good luck on getting a good fill this time. If you don't get a good fill this time, start asking questions. The band doesn't work if it doesn't have a fill. Belle, it's too soon to know if you are a slow loser yet or not. But definiately start demanding answers from your doctors. It is never too soon for that. Always_Smile, we always start out sucky when we start something new. That's part of the charm of being a beginner. Keep up the good work. But I think it's time to go to your doc and start asking questions. I think it's one of the hardest things to have WLS and not lose weight. It is not reasonable to be on the completely restive diet that we are on, and not lose weight. Time to take your journals from fitday.com or sparkle and go to your doc and start asking questions, and demanding answers.
  20. Hey Beachee-beachee, You know the hell I went through trying to lose weight. You also know the reason I can't lose weight. I'm really glad you are seeing and endo. CinWard, if you are dealing with undiagnosed endocrin disorders, you can drive yourself insane trying to figure out why you are not losing weight. Because litterally nothing you eat has anything to do with your weight. I personally can eat cheese burgers every single day and not gain weight and I can eat less than 700 calories for a month and not lose weight. This is documented. But I have a Brain Tumor. And brain tumors screw everything up. Beachee, hon, I'm not saying that's what you have, but I am really glad you are seeing an Endo. If this one doesn't give you good answers, if he or she tries to brush you off, doesn't adiquately answers your questions about why you cannot lose weight, demand answers. See someone else. If the bi-polar thing doesn't "fit" if that isn't what's wrong, go see someone else. They tried to tell me I was bi-polar. Uhm, no. But frequently Cushies get diagnosed as bi-polar before they get a real diagnosis. Best of luck dear heart. PM me if you have any questions. Check out the links in my sig for more help. (the site is down for maintence tonight though)
  21. thanks Penni, I was thinking about her yesterday. I had hoped to see something about her, and here it was! More news Penni! More news!
  22. I know this is somewhat off topic, but based one your experience, and the last trip I had in the ER, I called the Patient Co-ordinator. I had a TERRIBLE nurse that I feel put me in great danger. Didn't check my alergy band, used things I was alergic to, treated me like dirt. Didn't once take my vitals and didn't draw the labs that were ordered. All very potentially dangerous. Thank-you for giving me the strength to report this jerk to the Omsbudman. I know that if he treated me this way, he's treated other people that way.
  23. also vitamine C ....
  24. So, Puddin', what did your professors say?
