  1. My husband has lost more than 200 pounds. I'm not sure what he's at right now because he hasn't been in to weigh. He started at 600 pounds, and I swear that he's about 385 now.
  2. Sweetie, the band isn't about "restriction" it is about losing weight. And you are definately restricted, if you are having that much trouble. What are you expecting restriction to feel like? Perhaps that will help us guide you better, knowing what your expectations are. And like Kathy says, you really can't go by the number. I'm sitting at 1.25cc and I need an unfill. Please be kind to yourself
  3. YOU ARE NORMAL!!! There, feel better? ((((hugs)))) The band is not designed to work without a fill, and you seem to be a great healer! Yes, some people need 2 or 3 fills before they find their "sweet spot" but others find the first fill does the trick. Because you are not filled, it is just like you were not banded. Of course you will be hungry. That's normal and to be expected. Please hang in there, this pre-fill stage has got to be the hardest because you want it to work, you don't want to be hungry, and you want to lose weight. So, this will probably be the last time you will be able to enjoy baked goods :girl_hug: Excellent work on the 10 pounds, btw. But jus so you know, you are going to be hungry even after you are filled. You will, because you are HUMAN. I'm sitting here, feeling hungry, but that's because I ate something like 4 hours ago. And that too is to be expected. A lot of people think that once they are banded, (and filled) that they will never, ever be hungry ever again. And that is simply not true. But maybe for the first time, you will feel physically hungry, instead of 'munchy' or 'nibbly' or something similar. Part of the key is to lean to manage your hunger, so you don't get too hungry. If I'm not careful, my hunger will sneak up on me, and suddenly I'll be ravenously hungry. And that is a danger point. If I wait until I am too hungry, I get into trouble. I'll eat too fast, or take too big of a bite and then WHAMP!!!! Stuck, or worse. Cheers and welcome to Bandlandia
  4. Aveno baths, basically powedered oat meal. you want to dry up the blisters, so use witchhazle, or some thing similar. Calamine lotion. I used to get it so badc my face would litterally melt, and I would have to go on steroids for weeks. Pretty bad when the only thing that would fit me would be my dad's undershirts. They would be the only things with a large enough neck-hole for my poor swolen face. I was not a happy child.
  5. Congrats Christina! It sure has been a wild year!
  6. You should also find out what your real body mass is. This should give you a better idea of what you actually need to lose. I've highlighted the fact that you have been excersizing more, and this is very important. You may have pulled a Pat and actually put on a lot of muscle. It is very imprtant to understand that the BMI scale is USLESS for athelete. I think to start the pannel you would either see an internist, or an Endo.
  7. If you are doing all this work, and yet you are gaining weight, have you considered a metabolic panel? You've had quite a struggle, but you've also had some good success. I don't know why this is such a hard slog for some of us. I don't know why some people get to live life as a "normal" size, why they get to eat what they want, and not gain weight. I don't know why some of us gain weight on bread and Water. I cannot offer any real suggestions of concequent about revisions, since no weightloss surgery will help me lose weight.
  8. <3 Kare, how could anyone think of you as insufferable??? But too funny about the food
  9. Kare, I just bumped the thread, or one of them. I also whine about it in my journal too. http://lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=18328&page=3 LMAO "Tumasaurus"!
  10. Bumping for Kare and DeLara, and some others
  11. I'm about 16 months out, and I don't regret the band. I'm sitting here today with a net loss of 25 pounds, a brain tumor and I can't find an inhaler. So I'm mixed. I'm passed being pissed about not being lose weight. Or at least for today I'm passed it. Incredibly disapointed, but for now I'm at peace. If not for the band, the pit tumor wouldn't have been found. I wasn't loseing weight, and I DEMANDED answers as to why. I don't know where the inhaler is because I don't need one anymore. Before I was banded I was at the very real possibility of death from resperatory failure.
  12. Hey Hamu, I'm so glad it was "just" your gallbladder, and not something really serious.
  13. I knew this! Pick the Pagan!
  14. no one thinks my DH and I are sibs, but they all comment on how much my husband and son look alike. (they are not biologically related) But then again, my sister-in-law frequenly forgets that fact too
  15. Oh, yes, using church to beat up others... My dear sister lived in another state for several years, but chose to not attend any of the local churches. (If God is all around, then why do you have to go to a specific building?) She was a social out-cast because of this. I experienced this in my exhile. I do not belong to the dominate religeon in the area, and so I was treated like I was invisible. Not a happy way to live. I've seen what you mean, about the "Favored Ones."
  16. I'm so sorry, but you definately need to get to the doc ASAP. You are too tight, and need to have some removed.
  17. This is very interesting. Thanks for starting this thread! Just this morning I was thinking about how terrible I am for being too materialistic. I want a whole bunch of new things, like a new waterheater, stove, a fridge that makes ice. I want a new washer and dryer! I want a new desk! I want a new car with air-bags. All the things I listed I have (except my car doesn't have air bags), but they are not new and shiny, and I sure don't *need* new ones. I want, I want, I want. Gimme, gimme, gimme. I know that I should no be so materialistic, but I am. All my major appliances are about 20 years old, but they all work. I am not a Christian, but a Pagan. I did attend a church based school, so I studied the both the new and old testimaments pretty thouroghly (even if I cannot spell it... ) In the 80's it became fashionable and politically correct to blame poor people for being poor. Instead of giving them the help they needed, it was welfare mothers destroying the very fabric of our socity. This attitude continues I believe. So many people are not given the tools that they need to get out of poverty, they are blaimed instead. As a child I was taught in school this "And I tell you this also. It is easier for a big animal like a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God." Matthew 19:24 (Worldwide English (New Testament)) http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?book_id=47&chapter=19&verse=24&version=73&context=verse And he lifted up his eyes on his disciples, and said, Blessed be ye poor: for yours is the kingdom of God. Luke 6:20 (King James Version) http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Luke%206:20;&version=9; These two verses had a lot of impact on me as a child. One of the things that I remember being important with my school lessons were focuses on concentrating on the rewards on the next life, and how we needed to not be concerned with making money now. I was struck with how important surving the poor, and how central to Jesus' message. Amy, perhaps it is a regeonal thing, but to have someone brag like that about you seems to me uncooth.
  18. Doesn't sound like much of a co-worker... Man, what a tough situation. I'd make a call to human resources, and see if they can offer any tips. Of course, I think we have some HR folks here that might be a ble to offer some real help. Sorry! ((((hugs)))))
  19. Wow Bermy! Never in my wildest dreams will I be that good!
  20. Actually, with my consistantly high stress levels, if it made me lose weight, I'd be on a board for people who were struggling to gain weight. So, logically, the ice cream was closer than the stess.
  21. http://lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=14345&highlight=tattoo is another thread on the subject...
  22. I'm torn between "Poly" and "Pitunia"... so I guess depending when the tumor turns on or off, that will be it's name. (when it turns "on" I'm symptomatic, i.e. feeling like I'm on high doses of prednisone.) Thanks for playing everyone!
  23. get some good sugar free popsicles, fudgesicles, Jello and pudding You won't be eating an entire little cup of jello or pudding, but they are nice to have on hand. I liked miso Soup too.
  24. No, I don't do 24, but with the couple of terrible dry-heave vomiting that I've done exactly three times, I stuck with soup, and very soft foods.
