Why am I so hard on myself?
Hon, you've been given some great advice. Please don't be so hard on yourself. The band works for most people, so your chances of it not working are very, very remote. Courage dear-heart! Just so you know, in a couple of days or so, you might start having a freak-out moment where you will start to wonder just what the hell you did to yourself. (it usually happens with in the first couple of weeks). Sort of "AHHHHHH! WHAT THE HELL DID I DO TO MYSELF!!!!???!!!!" You will get through this.(((hugs)))

Problems before 1st Fill??????????
You might want to avoid any acidic foods for the time being. You don't want to cause any extra movement or ... activity until your first fill. Oh, and I got stuck on Water once. Took too big a gulp.

Crushing pills
from a different thread... Just quick remeinder that not all pills should be crushed, especially if they are a time release pill, or if they have a special coating. If you arn't sure, plase speak with your pharmasist! I just make sure I follow my pills with a large glass of Water to wash them out and down. Be safe and be kind!... Nykee had really bad troubles after her first fill, man I remember how hard that was on her! (poor thing!) I know that other people have had trouble with larger pills after a fill as well. I know that I had to break a few of my pills in half when I was really tight. It's the worst thing to PB on your meds. It seems that every surgeon has different rules, so follow what *your* doc says, just to be on the safe side. Later you might find that what works best for you might be different, but better lafe than sorry.

Drugs - What am I doing to my body?
Ah, the bi-polar key may be the key. Please find some help. This is not about being weak willed or being a bad person or anything you have control over. You have a medical condition that you cannot will way any more than I can will away my brain tumor. Do you have someone who is following you? If not, you *really* need to find someone. I know that depression like you are describing, will make this very difficult, but you must do it. This is not about being bad, or being a bad person. This is about having a medical condition that needs to be managed. Please be kind to your self.

Body Image After Lap Banding...
Hi Rachel, I don't think there is any shame in wondering what you will look like after losing weight. I don't think it is all that vain, and besides, I think a little vanity is good. Not a lot, but a reasonable amount And New Sho, I don't think there's anything wrong with your reasons either. Rachel, I would look through all the before and after pix on that thread, I'm absolutely astounded that just about everyone looks years younger after they've lost the weight. And don't worry, I dont' think Bandsters have to worry about waisting away to nothing, especially since we don't have the malabsorption issues to worry about. Besides, if anyone points out how you've aged, you will have the energy to run them down and kick the living crap out of them.

Letter to all....from LOTSOFKIDS
Holy cow Diane! I'm so glad that you were able to get a diagnosis (dx)! So often with rare diseases they take forever to dx, because it's "it's just too rare!" Someone on my Cushing's board was resently dx'd with the same thing. Sorry to hear about the steroids, do you know how long you will have to be on them? I HATE, H-A-T-E taking them, especially HATE taking them. I hope you get some relief soon. PM me any time!

Thanks everyone. Yeah, I know that they airbrush the models, and digitally manipulate them so they look perfect, thanks for reminding me Lapbandit! I had completely forgotten that. Part of my frustration right now is knowing that there isn't anything I can do to lose weight, and it's just really hard to have all these things in my face. Neener Neener! Not for you! It's like being the last kid in line where they are passing out ice cream and they run out just before they get to you. Everyone else gets some but you.

Slow Losers - Unite!
Ccfrog4u, believe me, I know this is very difficult. All my Turtles, this is very important. If you have made an honest go at making the Band work, and if you tell me that you have, then I believe you 100%, and the Band still is not working for you, then you need to start demanding answers from your doctors. It is so easy for doctors to dismiss us because we are fat. If we are fat, then obvously we are lazy and good for nothing. (LIES!) If your doctor doesn't know what's wrong, then ask for referals. It might be any number of things, but it is so important to find out what's going on. Do NOT let them push back on you. If more fills don't work, then it's time to get other help. I'm not saying that you might have Cushing's, what I have. Although one of main symptoms of Cushings is weight gain and central obesity (big round body, fat face and a buffalo hump). If you cannot lose weight on a calorie restricted diet, then you need to find out what is going on with your body. This is important!

Old Lady Shoes... Comfortable Shoes... Diabetic Shoes
I was a dedicated berkie wearer, until I started having problems with plantar fascitis (sp?). Went to a foot doctor, and was told that berkies are the worst thing for your feet. You think you are getting great foot support and doing great things for your feet when you are not. Berkies do not actually offer good foot/arch support. I now have flat feet due to 25 years of wearing berkies.

Vote now......
I had mine out about 8 years ago. I didn't have any symptoms! I went in for my anual and when they were pressing on my belly it HURT!!! And it only hurt when they pressed. So, after the one doc finished pressing one me, she went and got EVERYBODY in the clinic to come press on me. I had to threaten them to make them stop! I told them that it hurt, and the next person to press on tme I was going to hit. If they hurt me, I was going to hurt them. The scheduled a surgical consult for me the next day. It was a Wednesday. He said it wasn't an emergency, but by Friday it would be.

Poll: Howzit working for you?
I started with about a 45.8 BMI, dropped to 39.9 briefly, now I'm 42.0. Part of the problem is that I've lost an inch in the last 9 months. If I hadn't lost that inch, my BMI would be 40.8.

Old Lady Shoes... Comfortable Shoes... Diabetic Shoes
Dansko clogs! Wolkie shoes are good too. I think just about every ER that I've ever been in, all the docs are wearing Danskos... And for good reason. To hell with style, because when your feet hurt, everything hurts! http://www.dansko.com/Home.aspx http://www.comfortshoeshop.com/catalog/brand_landing.php?manufacturers_id=81 You might be able to get a good orthotic shoe insert that will help too.

Ok, it's official, I hate the grocery checkout
This afternoon I went shopping, and I was confronted with all the magazines that promise weight loss, or celebrites who are too thin because they're mental, or whatever. I'm just so discouraged. I know that so many people have lost weight with the band, and I know that other people have lost weight with other WLS. I have to keep hope that once my Cushings is resolves that I will be able to lose weight. I know that so many folks on my other board who've had succesful surgeries have gone on to dramtic weightloss. I'll start testing tomorrow, basicly because I'm so pissed off at the world.

Positive Life Changes since Banding?
I'm even able to walk without my cane some of the time. -- ralheit Oh my gawd! this is the very best! I don't get excited when people say they've lost x number of pounds or kg, but things like this are so wonderful!
