Hang in there......the weight does start to fall off (X-Post)
I'm discouraged because I've had a nagging headache for more than a week now. I'm discouraged because I cannot seem to get much more than 800 calories a day, because my fybromialgia is currently kicking my butt, because my hair seems to be falling out by the handfuls. (it sure seems that way when I wash my hair.) I'm discouraged because I feel like that guy in the commercial--he's in a gym, weighs himself, then pops in his ipod earbuds and runs around the room once. He then pops back on the scale and is disapointed because he hasn't lost any weight in the 10 seconds. I know I'm not being realistic. But you just can't reason with emotions... they're so darn... emotional.

G'day from Australia
I believe it is Brisbane, but I might just be making up that part. I'm not exactly sure, because they are still working out the details.

Singing after surgery
Hey Mark, and welcome! Let's see. I don't know about singing, but four days after my banding my DH and I drove the 800 odd miles from Seattle to SE ID. I was very tired after my banding, but I had asthma issues to deal with. I was back in class a week after banding with great energy levels Part of it depends on how quickly you heal, and I suppose how much singing you will be doing. My advice is that if you decide to go ahead and sing, rest up before you have to go on stage. Good luck and let us know what you decide!

Soda Pop?
Yes we can have booze, but be careful! Because the alchohol will be absorbed in the pouch instead of the stomach proper, it will probably hit you harder and faster than before you were banded. Be careful! You will probably now be a cheap date, if you weren't one before! Also, there is some research that suggest that drinking alchohol will retard your weight loss within something like a week of drinking the alchohol. Jenna and Marie, I believe that those only work for acid based sodas like cola and Dr. Pepper. Rootbeer will just make a sticky mess. (and *sniff* sniff* NO I'M NOT DONE CRYING **WAAAAA**)

I just got my surgery date!!
Hey Jorget, I felt pertty good within a few days. I was very tired, but not really in much pain. I had the liquid Lortab as well. Some insurance companies do, some don't. Again, it depends on how much extra skin you have, and your insurance company. You might need to show medical necessity (gawd I wish I could spell), like Jamie said. I'm a full time student, and I was back to class the following week. There are plenty of chatters, usually someone will post to one of the "Chat Anyone?" threads to let others know that people are chatting.

Me again--needing encouragement
I have to agree with Kathy, I've noticed a tendence to think we are waaaayyy over eating, when in fact we're actually within "normal" eating range. As for eating like a truck driver... My friend Brenda doesn't eat a lot, but gosh, are her manners attrocious!

G'day from Australia
Slang allert! What the heck does "the full bottle" mean??? Ah yes, drinking someone under the table, man, those were the good old days! My DH tells me that I'll finally be a cheap date. Now, a couple of drinks is all he can handle. But then, he always was a cheap date! Cheap date indeed! I had a couple of white russians last weekend, but hardly tipsy.

definition of irony
Tee-hee! I'm still laughing about it! Before Spudboy was born, I worked for the Navy as a data entry clerk, and we would pay different music to try to alleviate the mind numbing bordom. I was really excited about an upcoming Dead show, especially since Carlos Santana and his boys were the opening act for Gerry and his boys! (For those of us not steeped in Dead culture, The Grateful Dead didn't have opening bands, they would just come out, play for hours on end, and then the show would be over. In probably 1988 they had several opening bands, bands like Santana and Bob Dylan) Anyway! all the women in my office had decided that they didn't like the Dead, didn't like "Acid rock" even though none of them had actually heard the Dead play. So, being the person who pushes boundries, I brough in several of their tapes and played them all afternoon. My co-workers loved the music, but of course, what's not to love? They pestered me to tell them the name of the band, but I wouldn't tell them unless they gave their honest opinion of the music. When I told them who it was, several were very annoyed with me because they felt "tricked." If I'd been upfront with them, they wouldn't have let me play the music because they already had their assumptions about what the music sounded like.

definition of irony
Some things just define irony. Some of these things are happy, some are aggravating. I was synching my mp3 player (I’ve got the 15 gig Dell Juke box) when this happened: Band: Grateful Dead. Song: Friend of the Devil. Song track number? 666

Freaking out
My DH had to be on the liquid diet for a couple of weeks I didn't have to be on the diet. Same surgeon, same facility, different BMI, different amount of weight to be lost.
