  1. Hmmm, I thought we were supposed to only go back a few years.
  2. that's ok, I have yet to see a movie that gets biometrics right, or anything to do with computer security for that matter... TOM, my dad was an air craft mechanic too, and I always enjoyed it when he'd take me back to his shop. Being an airline brat I can usually spot the errors when it comes to planes too...
  3. The strange circumstances underwhich I was knocked on my ass by Chuck Norris: I was working at the snack bar at the local Sears, and one of my co-workers was always going on and on and on about how she was best friends with Chuck Norris and Jackie Chan. I flat out did not believe this woman, and I figured she was just full of lies. I mean, really, she was working at the snack bar at a Sears for crying out loud. Lies all lies. Like Chuck Norris is really going to come visit her at work and stay in her guest room. Yeah, right. So, I go up to the office and get my till, and I some out, just hell bent on going to my snack bar to get there on time. I come charging out of this small hall way, and I ran *smack* into Chuck Norris and end up on my butt, bags of money go one way, the till goes the other way. He was really nice, helped me up, and helped me gather up all my things. The next day, my co-worker brought in pictures of the party I didn't attend because I thought her pants were on fire.... Yup, Chuck Norris and Jacky Chan both spent the weekend with her. So, when someone telss me something completly improbable, like "I'm best friends with Chuck Norris and Jackie Chan, I blieve that person. I had to ask Danny Glover to get off my foot, but that's another story. (he's taller than I thought he would be.)
  4. hmmm, what does my list look like for the last few years.... I'm a professional belly dancer, who happens to be fat I’ve surfed porn professionally (yeah, I know, you said no job stuff, but I decided to include these two…) I'm teaching myself how to draw and paint (I’ve been commissioned to do a ceramic piece, does this count as a job thing?) I was awarded a prestigious full-ride scholarship to study information assurance (anti-hacker stuff), left my husband and son to go study with one of the best minds in security I can tie a cherry stem in a knot using my mouth I was able to freak out most of my campus at ISU just by walking across the quad dressed like a Goth Met a woman on the internet and flew to Las Vegas and spent the weekend with her in a hotel. I told my son he couldn’t do the same. Ok, truth be told, I met several women on the internet and flew out to spend the weekend with them… I just won’t be able to make it to the Vegas Bash this year… (Love you Christina! Glad you are feeling better!) I took “basic horsemanship” for PE at ISU, classes started one week after I was banded. I own a pair of working cowboy boots. I was going to say that I’ve been knocked flat on my ass by Chuck Norris, but that was more than a couple of years ago, so I won’t mention it.
  5. no fear of heights here, so yes, I'd go out on it. Not sure I'd pay $25 though...
  6. I'm very open about it, fat lot of good it's done me though, lol
  7. The hip-to-waist really is much closer to figuing out obesity thank strict BMI. But then again, these are both scales, and scales lie. Lie, Lie, Lie. The BMI really doesn't work for anyone with a highter than normal muscle mass, or lighter than normal mass. The whole body should be looked at, as opposed to one scale.
  8. I'm guessing NP means nurse practictioner? They don't listen because they are the ones who when to miedical school, not us. What could we possibly know about our own bodies? Every time I hear one of these bad fill stories I'm so very glad for the folks where I was banded. There is none of this "hunting" for your port nonsense. Lately I've been hearing some very bad doctor stories, very bad.
  9. Hi Karina, in order to help you a little more, we need to have more information. two years without a loss has to be hard to face. We need to know how to best help you. I also could be that you have an underlying medical condition that is preventing you from losing weight.
  10. Hey Sally! I was wondering where you went... so to hear about your band woes. Here's hoping your new fill does the trick!
  11. Sure thing. what a brave young woman!
  12. nice bit of needle work there K@t! I may have to get some of my work framed now...
  13. yay! yay! DeCarla's back! Woot!
  14. So srry to her about your loss. Your story of how he chose his name while you were singing always makes me smile. ((((((hugsLisahugs))))))
  15. WOOT! Congrats Lisa! Go do what I cannot (hold Bob with a straight face...) .. Miss you! Kisses!
  16. Even though I did go grocery shopping the morning I got out of the hospital (spent the night), I wasn't that interested in posting or playing games. I needed lots of naps. I'd leave your comp at home, the stresses of making sure it was secure would be too much for me.
  17. God hates shrimp http://www.godhatesshrimp.com/ I figure if you are going to be literal about the bible, then you have to take the whole bible. This was prompted this story today Preacher defends belief women can't teach men http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20060821/od_uk_nm/oukoe_uk_religion_wome NEW YORK (Reuters) - A U.S. Baptist preacher has publicly defended himself for firing a female Sunday School teacher after more than 50 years on the job because he believes the Bible bans women from teaching men. ... LaBouf and the church board sacked Mary Lambert, 81, earlier this month in a letter that cited the scriptural qualifications for Sunday School teachers, Lambert said. "They quote First Timothy Two, 11-14: A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man, she must be silent," Lambert said, reading from the letter. "I was astonished," she said. "I would not go back and teach as long as this is their thinking."
  18. Hurray! I'm just still sad that I'm not taking classes until my Cushing's is cured.
  19. I think you can if they are truly unique and you are not trying to protect stringing 3 blue beads with a yellow bead or something similar. I haven't seen your work, so I can't speak to it. As always, your milage may vary, speak with a lawyer.

I've had years of tae kwon do, judo, akido, kendo, and some other weapons training... The best thing they have given me is Confidence!!!! I know exactly what to do if someone were to grab me, and because I know what to do, it makes it that much less likely that anything is going to happen to me. I don't *look* like a victim. Much easier to pick on someone les confident. Plus, with all this extra cortisol pumping through my body, if someone were to even think about attacking me, my hightened senses would pick it up and I'd launch a premtive strike, rip their arms off and beat them with the bloody stump.
  21. According to my baby, "fat mammas love you better than skinny mammas."
  22. Hi Lighter, ok, track track track. It will give your nutritionist something to work with. If, after meeting with her, and your menu still looks good, it's time to start demanding answers from your doctors. After my inital loss, which included mostly Water weight, I didn't lose anything for months. After about 8 months of not losing, I finally started demanding answers from my doctors. It is not normal, reasonable or right in any way shape or form to not lose on a low calorie diet. Turns out the band news is that I have Cushing's caused by a pituitary tumor. Good news is that it is curable.
  23. ok, I just sent IM's to my DH and my son. DH is sitting 5 feet from me, and son is downstairs, almost directly below me. I thought it was normal behaviour? Ok, I ate bread, and Pasta and cheese and ice cream and fruity Rum drinks and more ice cream with hot fudge, and mac'n'cheese (the velveta shell pasta kind) and more pasta. I've had all my fill removed, and I ate all I wanted. I'm down 5 pounds this week.
  24. I've had restless legs all my life, so does my mom. I've found that if I eat LOTS of broccoli it seems to help. Unfortunately, not even I can eat 8 servings of broccoli a day/night. I take extra folic acid supplements and that seems to help. My mother read an article in Prevention magazine about 800 years ago and they suggested extra folic acid as a possible treatment/cure. My entire bed gets destroyed when I sleep, On the nights I don't/can't sleep, I'm absolutely astounded that when my husband get up, he can just smooth down the covers on his side of the bed, and of course, mine hasn't been touched. When I sleep alone in a bed, everybody's side gets messed up! I've been taking Mirapex for about 3 years now and it really makes a huge difference in my restless legs. The difference is in getting to sleep, or being miserable until I drop from exhaustion. You see, for me, when it's bad, it isn't a case of wiggly legs, but flailing about like a woman possessed by demons. I'm sure I'd have been burned at the stake! When I'm feeling compelled to audition for the Rockets, I find it's just easier to get up and high step round the house until I can't move another muscle. (Usually only when I run out of the Mirapex.) If I lie on my tummy, I just do flutter kicks, like I'm swimming, then my husband kicks me out of bed. Not really, but I’m sure he wants to kick me out on night like that. Instead, I take pitty on the poor man, and go wiggle and vibrate in the kitchen until I’m ready to drop. Someone suggested heavy blankets to keep one's legs quite... what torture that would be for me! My ex-husband would get fed up with me and my legs and would try to physically restrain me... what torture. As far as I know, RLS and panic attacks have nothing to do with each other. To give you an idea of the difference between the two, consider these the following: RLS is sort of like that guy who sits next to you with his leg wiggly, and just won't stop wiggling it. Bouncing that knee, like there was an imaginary baby being entertained. Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle, wiggle, wiggle, wiggle, wiggle, wiggle, wiggle, wiggle, wiggle, wiggle, wiggle, wiggle, and wiggle. Panic attacks, on the other hand... AHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!! Impending DOOOOOMMMMMM and AHHHHHHHH!!!! Impending DOOOOOMMMMMM!!!!!!! Impending DOOOOOMMMMMM!! and AHHHHHHHH!!!!! KIDNAPPERS!!!!!!!! and AHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! Impending DOOOOOMMMMMM!!!!!! and AHHHHHHHH!!!! SPIDERS IN MY SHOE!!!!!!!!! and AHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!! and AHHHHHHHH!!!!
