  1. Ok, I have to laugh, really really hard. I had all the fill removed from my band, because of the nausia I've been fighting, so I don't have the extra protection from over-eating. (the band is purely restrictive) I've been on a rip-roaring High and so I expected to be gaining weight. I also have been drinking Rum and light fruit beverages, becuase I wanna. I've also been eating ice cream and pasta. Yes, that's right, I've been eating pasta this week! Pasta and bread, everyday! :hungry: I'm down 5 pound this week.

  3. Highs and Lows are so personal, and some of us find our Highs and Lows merge into one weird feeling. I'm lately finding Highs and Lows crossing over into each other. Right now I'm on an insane High. Wednesday I crashed hard and ended up in the ER with "profound weakness." Today I was doing yard work like a crazy woman, like a woman posessed. Moved one of my compost bins, sstarted to pressure wash the back of the house but the Husband took over because I was crying because I'm ... possesed. I have no idea why I'm driven to do yard work. I mean DRIVEN to do yard work when I'm on a High. I just put down two big bags of beauty bark in the back-yard, moved the compst, spent an hour killing blackberries, raking ... Mike gets mad because I keep over doing it. Well, mad isn't the right word, concered I think more. I explained to him that I don't know how to not over do. I don't know when to stop. I don't know when to stop because it changes from day to day, hour to hour. Sorry, I'm rambling again. I'm the amazing motor mouth, chatter chatter chatter. It's like that credit card commercial, where the guy has dug himself into deep deep debt, and he finally says "somebody please help me." I haven't figured out why I don't do this in the house. Clean the inside of the house, empty drawers and cupbards and closets. I don't know why I don't turn this energy inside. I don't know why I don't use this energy to pain and refinish furniture or texture walls or retile my bathroom or my kitchen.

  5. Ok, thought I'd give you a status report, it seems that the pressure of the tumor has changed my eyesight for the better! This explains why I suddenly had an increase in my vision of 200 points. (old prescription was something like 460/20 and is now like 280/20. She'd never seen anything like that changing so fast, and getting better). so, I am still wainting on the neurology appointment, but the eye-doc definatly things there is a correlation with the tumor and my headaches...
  6. Hi Julissa, I'm not Dr. C, but yes, stress will do that. Your doc gave you good advice. If you've had a fill, you might need an unfill. If you aren't filled, you will just need to stay on liquids and have a light dinner as your doc as recommended. Some folks respond to added stress by getting tighter, others find they get loser. I know that cortisol makes me much tighter. If you haven't had a fill, you might just have to lose weight before you find your band giving you more leway. Good luck, and keep us posted!
  7. Well, liquids in, liquids out...
  8. Thanks so much for posting this MoM. I made an appointment and will see the eye Doc tomorrow (on a Sat no less!). The neuro will take longer to get in to see. These headaches are getting to the point where I've thought about drilling a hole in my own head to let out the demons! Hopefully this will, if not be an answer, point in the direction of an answer. I've got a tumor, and this is "false tumor." But the extra pressure could very well be the key.
  9. I don't know about brest cancer and the chemo, but I recently had a full untill because my Chushing's is making me nausious most of the time. I take the zofran and it helps more than the phenegren or the composine.
  10. Congrats on your RNY PinkPanther. 40 pounds in 2 months is quite a lot of weight! (said not without a touch of envy) I sort of think your question about which WLS is the best for you is sort of like asking us what the best birth control method you should choose. Or what color you should paint your house, sort of. In the end, only you can really make this choice.
  11. it really comes down to what you are comfortable with. The majority of this board will tell you to go with the Band. This is what we chose, so it is the best choice. (people are like that ) On the RNY boards, they will tell you that the RNY is the bost choice. This is such a personal choice. You need to weigh the pros and cons of each surgery and how they will personally affect you. I personally think the band is the best starting place because it is so much less invasive than any of the other techniques. Also, my Cushing's wasn't diasnosed until after I'd had the band. It would totally suck to have had something more drastic like RNY or DS to discover that I couldn't lose weight.
  12. Yes, the cursed Labor Movement! Gave us such terrible things as weekends, health-insurance, minimum-wage, over-time, and all those other worker protection schemes that are designed to destroy our way of life....
  13. oh Christina! I'm so very relieved and happy you are back in action! Hurray!
  14. My DH's been banded for just over 3 years. He's lost just over 200 pounds and is still losing.
  15. Oooh TOM! I like that, need to have both wings thing! Yeah, I think it's quite a shame that more people know all the dwarf names than the names of all the Justices. It seems to be that more people are interested American Idol than American politics. And as for communists, well, both sets of my grandparents were card carrying members of the American Communist Party. Both Grandfathers were very active in the Labor Movement in the 1930's.
  16. MoM, can you please provide the link where you got the info?
  17. My first payroll job was at Fothergill's Fish 'n' Chips where I learned to make real bear battered fish 'n' chips, not crappy breaded stuff. Next one was at Sears, where I was at the Coffee shop until I could move out to the garage, where I was a tire buster. Yup, changing tires. I enjoyed the physical work, but the constant and daily "go back to the kitchen where girls belong" coupled with the open hostility from the other Sears employees made that short lived. Today I could sue their butts off, but in the 80's there was no such thing as "sexual harrassment."

Elvis’ teddy bear leaves building the hard way http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/14154738/ Guard dog rips head off Presley’s $75,000 toy in stuffed-animal rampage And that was only ONE of the rare teddy bears destroyed by this dog!
  19. Damn Brain tumor is right!!!! :alien I'm beginning to think that no-one know a damn thing about nutrition either! LOL. Doc's tell you one thing that contradicts what they told you 5 minutes ago, or that contradicts that their nutritionists.... :moony:
  20. ROFLOL!!!! So sorry, but when I read this DM doesn't stand for "Dear"... :omg: Sorry, I'm in one of those moods...
  21. Celest! You are absolutly the best! From what I've been reading, it's sort of a Vegi diet, since most of the protien is to be from legumes and nuts, with little poultry or or fish, and meat once a month. The bulk of the diet is carbs, both simple and complex. It's also supposed to be a "delicate balance" between the carbs and the other stuff.
  22. I missed the Ink Spots. I should have known that one, since Spudboy and BabyGirl love the Oldies station....
  23. Thank you Greg. I know this hasn't been easy for any of us who know and love Ryan and Patty. I know you will share our warm thoughts with Patty. I'm glad his suffering is over.
  24. Hehe, I just can't bring myself to eat pasta.
  25. Ok, I saw a new local Endocrinologist yesterday, mainly because I needed some local support, someone to locally help me interpret lab results and the like. I also wanted to see if he could help me come up with an action plan so I don't end up in the ER any more because I crash so Low. Well, he ordered yet more UFC tests because he didn't believe the other test results  because they are too high, and I don't really "look Cushing's." Cushing's is a biomedical condition. No one says you don't have high bloodpressure because you don't "look like you have high-blood-pressure..." And no plan of action to keep me out of the ER either... ANYWAY... He decided that I need to lose weight (ya' think???:faint:) So, he wants me to do the Mediterranean Diet. I suppose that would be ok, but it seems to be very high in Carbs, which as a bandster, I have problems with on several levels, not the least being difficulty eating them :hungry:. But it calls for drinking wine, but I don't drink wine :clap2:, especially red wine, I just have never been able to develope the taste for it. But I thought I'd share, since it sure gave me a laugh. Ok, so yesterday it was more hysterical laughter, but laughter still...
