    Scared to WASH MY HAIR!

(((((DonnaB))))) I know how tramatic this is, and I'm so very sorry it is causing you such distress! This happens to me after every surgery I've ever had, plus after giving birth. I know that all my words of reasurance probably won't do much, but really, it does get better. Don't stop washing your hair. That won't have affect on your loss rate, but I do know how traumatic it is to have clumps like that. After my banding I had to sweep my carpets because the vaccume was getting clogged and it would wrap around the beater bar and cause a different set of problems.

Nothing special planned for the weekend. I was going to spend some quality time with WoW, World of Warcraft, if everything co-operates. Hope to get a movie in on Sunday afternoon. I spent about and hour this afternoon trimming bushes and waging war against the blackberries. Oh the Blackberries! Nothing says "abandond property" like blackberries! Sure the English Ivy will take over almost as fast, but some how it looks genteel as opposed to abandonded and unloved. But I topped off the giant yardwaste bin (not composing because of the blackberries) and a medium sized garbage can (again, not composting because of the blackberries.) It's almost 3 am and I'm wide awake. I've been up since 7am and good grief. Kind of figures that the day I take a break from testing I'd be up all night. I don't care! I'm making a break from the Tyranny of the Jug! Still no word from Chris at OHSU, I had called thrusday morning and left a message, I had hoped that she would call, but no such luck. *sigh* I heard back from my niece tonight. I strongly suspect that she too has Cushing's. She saw her PCP, and he send her to an Endo requesting RUSH testing. She actually saw the Endo the next day. Doesn't look good, Her hump isn't humpy enough, she's not weak enough, her stria isn't red or wide enough, but he did order some blood tests and a UFC. My son came home bragging that he'd gotten to see a Pirate rock band at the local mall. Every Friday they have live music on the stage, as well as several other nights, and tonight they had a group called Captain Bogg & Salty Spud and his girlfriend BabyGirl (I"m working on a new nickname for her, this week I'm calling her BabyGirl) bought all their CDs and had a really great time. Apperently they group had a FisherPrice, My First Mosh Pit... When I ripped the CDs to my harddrive it came up as Children's genre, so there were lots of kids in the audience. So there you go. I'm detecting a theme to his latest gifts to me.. Pirate CD (but not pirated one ), pirate playing cards, pirate rubber ducky, and my very own tooba pirates... Well, I'll be well prepaired for International Talk Like a Pirate Day, Sept 19th. (I'll be having my 3rd anual Pirate party... on 9/16, since ya can hardly have a rip-roaring Pirate party on a Tuesday Depending on how I feel tomorrow I might see if I can get my husband to take me to the SeaFair Pirates landing. Yeah, like I can handle the crowds... LOL!

I enjoyed this movie too. Of course, when we pick movies, my husband usually takes me to chick flicks, while I usually pick action/adventure

    LAP band to bypass....?

hmmm. Very interesting. I know that before my husband had his band he felt like he'd hit a terrible low. 600 pounds. I know that before I had my band, 265 pounds, I felt like I'd hit a terrible low. I think part of the issue with this current debate is a language barrier, even though we are all speaking English. I think that most people are naturally defensive of their choice. It's the one "I" chose, so it is the most very best choice for anyone. (I'm speaking in generalities here now) We like to think that our system is the best system, be it schools, religeion, political afiliations, computer operating systems, or the way we wash our dishes. So naturally, it extends to our choice of WLS. I know that many bandsters in their heart of hearts are jealous of the fast lost that the Malabsortive techniques provide. Not all, not most, but many. Hell, I'm envious of the loss anyone has becuse no WLS will work for me until I get the Cushing's resolved. Don't think for a minute that doesn't hurt, but I'm so very glad that I had the Band and not something more drastic to make that discovery. I thnk a lot of the bashing that goes on is partly a case of "mine is better than your (fill in the blank)" and partly a case of the Fox who lost her tail, and of course, ignorance of what it is like to live someone else's life. I will never know what it is like to be New Sho, or Geezer, or DeLarla, or Jachut or Keebera or Paula or Big Paul or Capt'n Jack. Hopefully I will be able to little bits of their lives, to empathetcially understand, jsut as hopefully someone will be able to understand what it's like to be me.

    Hatered,toward "fat" people.

it's because gluttony is one of the 7 deadly sins. Seems like it's always been a case of "I be more pious than thou art." Besides, it's easier to get away with your own ... sins if you make a big ruckus about what other people are doing. Slight of hand, distraction...

    Shared Laundry Rooms!!!

My college apartment was the same way! something like 40 apartments, 2 washers & dryers for the whole complex. I would usually wait until Sunday morning to do my laundry, because everyone else was at church. That's one of the the good things about being a Pagan, no required church attendence. But yeah, people would forever leave their stuff too long in the machines. I would always set my kitchen timer so I knew exactly how long I needed to wait. Oh, yeah, once I was doing a small load of delicates, and some jerk guy decided that he would throw in his jeans in with my stuff! I about came un-glued!

    Living Abroad Alone

Celest, I told your stories lastnight at dinner with my DH and his best friend and they thought both stories were pretty funny. Just thought you might like to know your adventures are eagerly looked forward to, as a plesant evening's diversion.

    Clothing exchange

Hey Bandsters! (Hey VQ!) I know that many of you are currently melting away and rocking your Band, and so, you've shunk out of many of your clothes. Cushies on the other hand... we go the other way. There is a young lady on my Cushing's board that is in desperate need of some new clothes. This young lady has had a really hard go of it, especially since she too was raised by wolves. Let me know if you can help her out Cheers

    Letter to all....from LOTSOFKIDS

Diane, seriosly go to the experts. Cushing's is Rare, but Moyamoya is RAW! I know that I had to go out of state to Portland to find an expert for me. OHSU knows more about Cushing's that the famed Mayo Clinic. Please don't mess about. There are times to be a training subject, and there are times when you just don't wanna d*ck around.

    hunger survey for my info

Hey Susan! We all know I haven't had any luck losing weight, but since banding, I have been able to understand "diminished hunger." I'm not sure if this will make any sense, but since banding, i've noticed that I really do have less hunger than I had before I was banded. But one thing I have really come to understand are my body cycles. When I have a lot of cortisol in my system, I want to eat everything. When I eat corn products I want to eat everything in the house. I'm not allergic, exactly, but it does make me want to eat everything! Soy does the same thing, but to a much lesser degree than corn.

Yoda, do you have a dog?!

Oh noboubt that he was all the bigger because I was all the smaller, but he was big even for a Newf. My dad and uncle would throw these big logs out of the boat for him to fetch.

Celest! I'm hoping that you are laughing about this already! I am just picturing the bru-ha-ha that you caused! You continue to be one of my heros, for having the strength to go off to Malawi all by yourself. And people told me I was strong for leaving my son and husband to live in Pocatello Idaho...

    Sangria Suarez (2006 Vegas Bash)

oh, it's not set untill the End of August, if I remember correctly. Last year it was Labor-day weekend. Personally, I'm hoping to miss the party only because I want to be recovering from brain surgery! (no date scheduled yet, but I "feel" like it's close!)
