  1. Fast and furious... Started thus path on the first of month' date=' surgery this Friday. Stressed to all hell, still scared about if this is the right decision.[/quote']

Wow--- so fast! Sometimes fast is better! I've been approved since Nov and I waited to schedule my surgery around my spring break, and let me tell you 3 months of too much thinking about this surgery has gone on!!! If you believe your ready to change your relationship with food, and you've really tried all other avenues of weight loss you are probably making the best choice in having surgery. As long as you know it's not a quick fix ( for most people). Hang in there, we all go through this crazy ups and downs the closer it gets. :)

  2. Hi Post-Opers, I was wondering if you could give me any info on who has had to have a blood transfusion during surgery, and how much blood( pints did you get. I'm debating if I should make the 1.5 he drive to donate my own blood - just in case. I just wasn't sure how often blood transfusions occur with this surgery. I'm only going to be able to do 1 pint, so I'm also not sure it's even worth it. Thanks for any info you have on this.

  3. Funny enough my surgeon just came to visit and yelled at everyone for overreacting and stressing me out. He looked at all my scans and said literally everything looks perfect. Just because Water is causing some pain I shouldn't panic. He's gunna get me some yogurt' date=' saltine crackers to melt in my mouth, and some Popsicles to see if I tolerate other stuff. I'm so torn now. All the nurses are telling me if I can't drink atleast 36oz of water by the time of discharge ill just end up back in the er for dehydration which I obvi don't want to happen but the surgeon said all the imaging shows everything is working fine. Do I stay to be safe or do I go home and hope that getting a full nights sleeps and a better assortment of liquids will get me moving in the right direction?[/quote']

Go with your instincts girl! If it doesn't feel right or you don't feel ready-- stay one more day. Your cozy bed with be there waiting, but those helpful nurses won't;)

  4. I'm curious what everyone else is doing calorie wise as well. I've been staying at about 800 calories during the last week. I have 3 more weeks of pre- op diet so I've been adding low carb Snacks to increase calories since I too was worried about starvation mode. I lost 9.5 lbs in one week so I figure I must be doing something right. I think during my last week or two before surgery I will only do shakes and liquids/jello. Btw- my low carb snacks have included- hard boiled egg, sugar free Jello, cheese stick or baby bel cheese.

  5. Friends - I have had a Protein Shake break through! My doctor had created his own line of Protein powers (among other things) and I was too cheap to buy them before. I have been so miserable on my liquid diet' date=' i decided to go for it. Best thing I've done! Tons of great flavors... The honestly don't taste healthy, haha. They are low carb and PACKED with vitamins! Check them out... http://www.bariatricfusion.com/[/quote']

Thank you for sharing!! Do you have a recommendation for me on flavor?

  6. So today is clear liquids. Then to the hospital for 6:30am Wednesday. It is getting very real and I am scared as hell. I shouldn't be since I have been watching my rockstar wife for three weeks since hers. I just keep thinking what could go wrong and what if I never see anyone again. I know it is stupid but seems really valid today for some reason. I am normally a very optimistic person but I am worried. Well time to put on the big boy undies and make today great so that tomorrow I can start to live the rest of my life!
