  1. My date is May 20th. Surgery in Houston' date='Tx. I'm 5 8 and my highest weight 248. Went to doctor today and weigh 242 . The first change I decided to make was no sodas the month of March. Note I've been cutting down on the white stuff, bread, sugar, potatoes, rice. Next get moving. I really have no set weight. My goals are to be rid of medications!! But my surgeon says I will lose about 65/70 pounds. I have been over 200 pounds for 20+ years. I am 45 and my husband is my only support family wise. I have told one co worker, she supports me. I have a gastric bypass friend that is supportive. I told my 16 year old and it was a teary conversation on her part. But I'm determined to not be on these 10 pills a day.[/quote']

We are at almost the same starting point. I'm 5'7, 277, 30yrs. I am trying to cut back on all of the above. My surgery date is 5/28/13, I am so happy to start a healthier life.

  2. My surgery is scheduled for May 28th. i have always been bigger than most, my highest weight was 280, I would like to get down to 170-165. My mother is supportive, but my daughters father, and older sister feel I am taking the easy way out. I have not been in the 100's since grade school. So Im looking forward to this new change. I am so grateful to have found a forum that is supportive.

Welcome, my name is Candice. I had my nut appointment yesterday, and next week is my psych appointment. So hopefully I will have a date soon. I'm nervous as well. But, we will be fine, from what I hear and see. Save me a spot on the losers bench.

  4. Here are things I don't miss...

Barely fitting into seats at concerts.

Not having a style' date=' I can now buy things that I like, as opposed to buying because they fit.

Being the biggest person in the group

    Chub rub on my pants

    Shopping at plus size stores

Yes, my best friend is a double zero. I am always the biggest one in the group. We look like the number 10, but not for long. I had my nut appointment today, and next week is my psych appointment, hopefully a date not long after that.

  5. hey hun good morning and congrats on your sleeve' date='

My doctor told me that the first month there is a drastic weight loss and that is because we lose Water weight. As fallen angel had already mentioned, some lose 15 others lose 30 and some may lose even more, i lost 31 pounds the first time. But after my first month i went to my doctors appointment he said that i should lose 2.2 pounds a week 1kg that is 8 to 9 pounds a week and he advised me to stay close to that because at that rate my skin will be able to catch to my weight loss and tighten up faster. But sometimes i go through 1 week or so stalls so i dont lose anything that week and i might make it up the next week and he said that some months i might lose some one week and stall for the next three.

Sorry for the long reply, all in all... you should be losing 8 pounds a month and that is healthy :) Good luck

Thank you for this post. You managed to answer so many questions I had. I am considering VGS. I choose this procedure, because I will still be accountable for my weigt loss. I still had the main concern about the sagging/loose skin. Are you doing anything to aid in the tightening of you skin? i.e. moisturization, weights, etc

  6. Hello! I have decided to look into VGS as wel. I had my consultation on 12/14. My doctor is really good. I do have some concerns about the procedure. I have been all over youtube looking for answers. I didnt finalize my decision until talking to my cousin. She had the procedure last year.

I am waiting to wrap up a project at work, and loking forward to a surgery date in October. My BMI is 45. I worked for the Blues in Philadelphia, and they are pretty good at approving the procedure if you meet the stated rquirements.

I wish you all the best, and will follow your journey on here. I could use the inspiration.
