    All of my December sleevers...

I am so excited!! I have finally made it to onederland!!! I didn't think I was ever going to get out of the 200's and I finally did it this morning!! Whoo Hoo!!! I know I still have a ways to go, but boy am I excited!! What a great feeling!! I also started back to school this week, I was accepted into Texas A&M University - Commerce for my MBA program another one of my goals!! Big week for Jen!!! Yeah!!

    All of my December sleevers...

I think you are right, I don't think I am getting in near enough protein either, I haven't really documented it like I should be because I have been so busy at work and I decided to go back to school to get my MBA and found out I was accepted into the program at Texas A&M and start in July, so I have been a bit overwhelmed lately. I did actually weigh this morning and low and behold I was down 3 pounds, so I am now down 48 pounds. I started kicking my workouts up a notch so maybe that will help also, crossing my fingers I can get this weight loss into gear!! I do want to mention that I did actually go from a size 22 pant size to a size 16 and 14 in some, so I know that isn't something to sneeze at. I may just be too hard on myself, and letting that nurse get to me.

    All of my December sleevers...

I had surgery 12/27/2012 and I am only down 45 pounds also, it is really upsetting for me because my doctor's nurse keeps telling me I should be losing more. It is making me feel like I am doing something wrong, when I am doing what I am supposed to be doing. I don't know what the problem is. I am very frustrated...I only lose 4 - 5 pounds a month and it sucks.

    Weight loss stall

I am having the worst luck on weight loss, at least in my opinion compared to what most everyone else does. I am 5 months out from surgery and I am only down 45 pounds. I lose maybe 4 - 5 pounds a month, it is horrible!! I am very discouraged!!!
  5. The same actually happens for me as well. I couldn't believe it, if I don't eat enough carbs I don't lose, too much Protein and I stall.

Pain in left shoulder after I eat.

Mine was too, whether I was eating or not it hurt. I couldn't take a breath without ot shooting a pain through my shoulder. If I had a hiccup I thought I was going to pass out it hurt so bad. It got to the point it was just aching all the time eating or not. I finally got those meds I mentioned previously and took alleve and it finally went away.

Pain in left shoulder after I eat.

I had the exact same thing, I had to eat slower and take smaller bites, along with taking pantoprazole and carafate for about 4 weeks, it healed right up. I had the hiatel hernia repair as well, so what we think the issue was just inflamation from the surgery. It is actually very common, I had all your same symptoms scared me to death and had test after test and in the end, I just needed to heal a little longer. Talk to your doctor and just ask for those two prescriptions and I guarantee you will start feeling a lot better!! Also, mine started about 6 weeks after surgery, my doctor said that is very common because of irritation and the effects of having surgery.

    All of my December sleevers...

Ok, update my surgery was 12/27/2012, I was only on my pre-diet for 5 days and only lost 3 pounds because it was kind of a rush to get the surgery done before the new year, so I count my weight loss as a total. So, I started at 251 and I weighed this morning and I am now 229, so at 6 weeks including week prior to surgery I am a total of 22 pounds down. I guess this is good, I ended up getting sick right after surgery with a really bad cold and was in bed for a week, then ended up with a stomach virus one day, but have been fine since. :-)

    My post-op nightmare.

I had the same problem, still have some if it, but it seems to be getting better as time goes on. I am 5 weeks post op and it seems like it is opening up more but like I described it to my family it feels like one of those hour glass timers with the liquid or food slowly making its way down. It is very uncomfortable, but it definitely has gotten better for me. I hope things get better for you, I know how hard it is and how uncomfortable it is, it is no fun!
  10. This topic has officially turned useless. If anyone else happens to go through something similar this is definitely not the topic to review for help.
  11. By the way to O.T.R., I was actually glad to see you show up to this particular forum and look forward to you getting some of these post under control, I was just a bit disappointed in some of your statements in that one post. No hard feelings!
  12. I had to respond to this because honestly, I am actually in shock by some of these statements. Granted it is possible, very possible to gain weight even with the sleeve when you eat or drink more calories then you should I believe everyone of us are fully aware of that, it is pretty much engrained in us during the whole process before surgery. However, 10,000 calories in a day with this surgery...REALLY??? I don't think so.....something is seriously wrong if you can get that many in, I think a little exaggeration went into effect there and it was unneccessary, she may have been drinking a little more protein then she should but nothing that was too outrageous...good lord people get a grip. Also, a surgeon making a mistake preposterous, hmmm...tell that to all the patients that have had equipment left in them after surgery, or had the wrong procedure performed on them, seriously man do you not watch the news or read articles, why is everyone trying to discredit her story? Why can't people just be supportive and just let her ask a question and then someone answer it. As some of this post actually had some information that is helpful to the OP, a lot of it is only opinion and really could have probably been kept out of the post because it really sounded like it was discrediting the OP, why do that. I just feel if you don't have an answer for her question, or do not want to give her words of encouragement I just don't see a reason to post! To the OP.....please, please ignore all the rude and unintelligable comments and know that there are those of us that are supportive and do feel awful that this is happening to you and hope you find the answers you are looking for and get the assistance you need to fix the problem. There actually some really good posts out here and they have provided some great information, especially about the protein, that is really good information, but the negative discrediting stuff....ignore it, who cares what they think. I think a lot of that is just for attention. So anyway, I would love to know the outcome if you even want to post it out here, or just send it to me privately. I wish you the best and pray you get the help you need as soon as possible.
  13. First I want to say, I am so sorry you are experiencing this difficult situation with your surgeon. Second, I am sorry you are now experiencing childish behavior on a site that is actually supposed to be a support forum. I truly hope things begin to turn in your favor soon. Lastly, what is wrong with some of you, she comes here asking for a little support and to see if anyone is or has experienced what she is going through and you attack her, really? How about if you don't have anything supportive to say or helpful in anyway you don't post. No one cares to listen to people have playground fights, or from another psting I witnessed an almost full fledge sexting party which was utterly ridiculous. I came to this site myself for support during a very scary and rewarding time in my life to learn from others going throgh the same thing I am. I didn't come here to read a bunch of useless, mindless, and self absorbed opinions of others, or for a date! Go to match.com if your lonely or take it offline. Also, if you just have to fight with someone on here, just exchange numbers and handle it like adults and leave the rest of us out of it. That was my soap box moment, I hope people are not offended and understand some of us just want to make friends and get al little support.

    All of my December sleevers...

Oh my gosh, I am seeing people hitting 1000, 1200, 1400 calories and I don't know how you do it. I am killing myself to try and get in 600, and getting in enough water, oh man...I don't see how anyone can handle it. I get so full so fast that I am sick, I couldn't eat or drink anymore if my life depended on it! I am 6 weeks out and haven't lost a pound since week 4, so I am really trying to get my fluids and calories up if that is even the issue.
  15. Yeah, this is not necessarily true, I had acid reflux and hiatel hernia repair with my sleeve and I feel great. I think it just depends on the person, body, and possibly food choice or when you eat. You should never lay down immediately after eating and if you overfill your pouch you are going to have issues. There could also be something else going on, I would discuss it with my doctor.

    Bladder changes

Insane, I am so glad I saw this, I thought I was losing it, or I wasn't drinking enough or something. I used to get up constantly to go to the bathroom, now I actually sleep through the night and do not have to go rush to the bathroom, or cross my legs when I sneeze or cough! It's awesome!
  17. Ok, so I am not sure about everyone else, and it could be that this is more geared towards the fact that I had a hiatel repair as well as the sleeve, but every time I drink or eat anything my stomach gurgles so loudly. It actually feels like an hour glass is now my route to my stomach. My daughter was laying next to me in bed, she is 12 and we were watching TV and she looked at me and said, OMG was that your stomach! LOL It doesn't hurt but it is annoying! I seriously hope that this is just due to swelling since I am 2 weeks out from surgery. Does anyone else experience this?

    Sprite

My surgeon said their is nothing wrong with drinking carbonated drinks just sugar free, to keep the calories down.

    Dumping Syndrome

Dumping can happen to anyone at any time. It just depends on what is going on with their body and what it doesn't agree with. I had it on occasion before and after surgery. You just have to pay attention to your body and what it can tolerate, and be careful because it likes to change its mind every now and then on you and you get caught in a stinky situation. :-)

    Severe cold!

I am finally getting over my cold I have had all week and I took nyquil. It didn't bother my stomach at all and helped me a lot.
  22. I had my sleeve done on 12/27/2012 and had a hiatel hernia repair to add to the difficulty in eating, so getting anything down is a chore. Not to mention things do not taste the same and I am not tolerating the protein shakes well at all. I tried Isopure and it was horrible, the only protein shakes that are not so bad are the atkins or pure protein but currently and pardon the TMI, they give me the runs. So I am at a loss at what to do, especially since even when I do drink the shakes I can never get it all down. Are there other VSGers that have struggled with this as well as having difficult even getting enough calories in?
  23. Same here on the chocolate, that seems to be the only flavor I can stomach at the moment.
