I ran in much colder weather than that when I lived in Indiana. Do a warm-up run a couple hours early if possible. You can get a scarf or neck wrap to breathe through to help with the cold air if you have trouble with that, but you probably won't after you are warmed up. Also you will probably be happiest in tights on bottom and layers on top (a synthetic or thin wool or silk shirt like thermal underwear, followed by a sweatshirt which you can remove). When you get moving you won't feel cold anymore. Wear a ski cap on your head. If your ears get cold you can pull it over them. Also moisturizer on your face and Chapstick on your lips, especially if it is windy. Gloves are good. But really, I always found running in the cold quite pleasant after I got started. It was just the getting out the door that was hard.

be careful running in 18 degree weather. I had a bit of an issue yesterday when running fast in 25 degree weather.

Watch out. You're turning into a runner. It sneaks up on you.

Just finished Week 2, Day 2 and I'm finding it hard to believe that I can actually do this. I ran a little more each time, and was shocked I could do more than the app even asked for. Crazy.

Week 3 day 1 is done and still feeling great. Could this app really work. It seems unbelievable to me that I could actually run for say 20 minutes in a few weeks. I always had great admiration for runners and aspired (unsucessfully) to be one. I think it is probably the single most efficient exercise to burn calories/fat from your body.

Congratulations! I also had a off week last week and just finished W8D3 today but I finished it! Like you it was not a 5K but I did two and three-quarter miles. I'm supposed to do a race this Saturday but it's supposed to be 18°. I'm a little apprehensive and on top of that I'm supposed to also have my three-year-old grandson with me. I've never pushed a jogging stroller before and add to that the low temperature degree I'm thinking I may walk a couple miles instead. Will see what today holds.
    Happy hump day everyone!

Ok, so finished week 2 day 2 today and felt like I could keep running. It was liberating. Thanks to those who encouraged running outside. For some reason you feel like a superman or woman. I felt like a real runner. I know its still early going and I will be very challenged later along but for now its great.

Finished first in the first annual Norwegian Epic Turkey Trot 10K. Doesn't matter that I was the only one running it! that makes two 10Ks this week! I am feeling unstoppable!

I didn't ask. I'm sure it's ok. It's a result of my surgeries in the last year. It will definitely make me think long and hard about any plastic surgeries.

Walked this morning and then did some resist bands and free weights. Anxiously awaiting dinner tonight. The son and daughter-in-love are having a gender reveal party and I get to find out what the next grandbaby "should" be. Happy Tuesday everyone!!

I'm checking in from the middle of the Caribbean! I decided to keep up with my training plan and actually ran a 10K on the jogging track. Took 23 laps, but it was fun!
Keep up the great work everyone!
Misty - be sure and rest and don't start back until you're ready! You'll probably need to go back a few weeks, but you'll progress faster since you've got some miles under your belt.

Well did my wk 2 day 1 run outside in 23 degree weather and felt very proud of myself. Didn't feel cold at all but did learn to bring tissues for my runny nose next time.

Starting wk 2 day 1 today and I decided to take it outside for the first time ever. Even caved in and bought new sneakers. It is currently 23 degrees out with a high of 37 expected for today. Yikes, but I planned this last week and if I start off making excuses already....

W7D3 done!!!! Finally saw the scales move down 3 pounds this week. It's about time! I've been battling a flare so they finally put me on prednisone. It helps with the flare & Water retention but it sure does make my muscles feel like rubber bands. So because of that I am giving myself 4 thumbs up in still making the runs. It was very trying but I am so proud of myself that I pushed through it and did it!! Everyone have a blessed weekend. I get to see my son and daughter-in-love this weekend, I am so looking forward to it.

Trust me....running outside is a little more difficult, but way more rewarding. If you're running on a treadmill already, I don't think you're likely fail. Take that first step, you will never look back.

I'll run a 5K on turkey day in your honor! I'm leaving on Saturday for my first skinny cruise and Thursday is an at sea day, so it'll work out perfectly.

Just finished W7D2. Went pretty well. It's nice since I've slowed my pace down, I can actually run and just let my mind wander and think about things. I actually came up with some pretty good ideas for Christmas this year. Lol
Anxiously awaiting my pacing partner, droppinstones, to post her run today. Are you on MFP?
Everyone have a great hump day! I'll be back tomorrow.
