my highest recorded weight was 321 pounds at the end of 2009 when i was diagnosed with insulin resistant polycystic ovarian syndrome and hypothyroidism. my hormones were so out of whack it was causing the weight to just pile on. i went on yaz (a birth control pill especially for pcos), which stabilized my hormones enough that i was able to get down to 255lbs (early 2011). i felt amazing! but it was too good to be true-- the drug caused me to suffer a stroke in august 2011 at the ripe old age of 24. thankfully i have no residual mobility or cognitive issues from that, but the weight i lost came right back after my hormones freaked out when i went off the drug. i've been stuck around 299 for the last year (2012) and finally decided to consider weight loss surgery. there's just no way i can conquer this battle without a tool like the sleeve on my side. my endocrinologist is confident that if i can bring my weight down, my hormones will stabilize. i am scheduled for feb 6, 2013.
