Healthy Addictions
Cristin replied to HypnotizingHazel's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You're so right. For me it's not so much finding a new addiction, but finding a passion and all sorts of healthy methods of self expression. I'm teaching myself to play the guitar and the feeling I got when I played the melody of a song I loved was just as rewarding and fulfilling as food was. It's totally about re-routing the neural pathways in your brain so that it learns to connect other activities with pleasure. It's amazing how complicated out relationships with food can be. -
I have a ton of cellulite. My mom does too, so there's the genes. I've been wondering how it will look and basically, if excess skin in the cellulite areas isn't bad, it should be reduced, since those lumpy fat cells are shrinking.

Mental Changes/depression/mood swings post surgery
Cristin replied to CocoM's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Actually mood swings are to be expected. When your body loses fat, a ton of hormones are released. And especially with rapid weight loss like you get with the sleeve, the emotional swings can be especially dramatic. It's very important to prepare yourself for these mood changes the first 6 months or so. Things will eventually return to normal, but it can be tough. Hang in there and use this forum and the rest if your support system -

Frustrated, impatient, going crazy...
Cristin replied to Jen35's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think we've all gone through this. The cases where it goes smoothly are much more rare. I started the process in July 2012, and had 6 months of physician supervised weight loss, and my insurance paperwork JUST got submitted today. It's part of the process. Hang in there. -
