Being almost 300 pounds. I kept telling myself if I didn't lose weight, I'm going to get bariatric surgery. For years, I told myself this. I couldn't let myself get to 300 pounds. So my top weight was 297.

I tell everyone except for my nursing instructors because they won't let me do my clinicals if they find out until approved by the doc. I can't wait that long!!

I haven't regained yet but I've been stalled for a while. I'm not at my goal weight yet. I still have 40 more pounds to lose. So here to recommitment!!!!

Physically, you'd most likely start to feel discomfort if you ate too much. Mine is around my breastbone. You might also barf.
9 years post DS, I still have much bigger eyes than my stomach. Other times I feel like I want to eat but feel too full to do so. That's the best description I can give you of how it works for me.

I've managed to get off track. I've gained 15-20 pounds back after reaching my goal (lost 100 lbs) because of stress and boredom eating - eating tons of simple carbs and drinking calories.
So today, I'm publicly recommitting to going back to the basics. This week, I've already given up the caloric drinks and started back exercising. The last step is getting back to smaller meals consisting primarily of Protein and dealing with stress in other ways.
I'm proud of myself for catching it before gaining too much weight. If anyone else is in the same boat, join me in recommitting to looking and feeling fabulous.

This is fine to take, right? I had gallbladder surgery and need to know. I know we aren't supposed to take Motrin, right?

I am preop waiting for my ssdi to be approved (after years). I find myself looking at people and thinking "Come to Mexico with me". It happened again today. A fluffy lady walking into a nice place for lunch and I thought "Please go with me." I do not feel better than any one but I just think they would be so much happier. Does any one else share these sort of thought?

When I see an obese person who looks sad I really wish that they could do what I did. Some people just don't have enough information about surgery to really consider it, and some people don't have insurance coverage or money for it if they did know about it. Some people are scared. Some people may just be happy the way they are. But I do think there are a lot of people out there who could benefit from weight loss surgery if they had knowledge about it and a way to get it. It makes me sad that they don't. When people ask me how I am losing weight, I've been almost always telling them about surgery just to try to spread the word about it. Even if the person asking me doesn't need surgery, they might know someone who does.

So I see Rosie Odonnell had the sleeve done. I was surprised she hasn't lost that much weight, 40lbs. They say the surgery was like in July of last year? I don't know. In how successful this surgery is she would have better numbers.

So my parents, my wife and my roommate all don't understand why I am going through with the surgery. I would think I would get encouragement for quitting smoking, stopping drinking and working towards getting to a healthier weight. Instead I get told how disappointed and upset they are that I am not doing it on my own. I can understand people feeling like it is drastic, even think I could lose the weight on my own. But the truth is so far in life I have only gained. I am not ashamed to admit I need help. I am tried of apnea and all this weight and wish I had support from the people closest to me.
Sorry for going off but I don't think many people would understand.

Dobeigh and 7bites, you are exactly where I wanna be at a year out. Portion Control was my issue and I have no intention of being a lifelong dieter/tracker. I just wanna eat less which is where the sleeve comes in.

Dobeigh and 7 bites, you are my heros! I HATE keeping track, counting calories/carbs/whatever and I'm not a fan of exercise. I am active at work and like to do outdoor activities on weekends, just not "workout" type exercise. I don't even own a scale and plan to weigh myself at work when I remember to. I read so many posts of successful sleevers that go to the gym, track everything on myfitnesspal, etc. but I work 60-70 hours a week and don't want to spend my little free time monitoring my diet for the rest of my life. I realize the sleeve is a tool and won't do the work for me, but I really just want to live a normal life. Reading your posts gives me hope that that is possible.

I eat whatever I want and I'm only 8 months out. You'll be able to eat whatever you want here pretty soon. I don't eat healthy though or exercise. I'm still losing weight because my portions are small. I don't exercise but I'm a nurse and I also work a lot of over time so I do walk a lot. My weight loss is slowing down so maybe I would lose more weight if I ate better but I'm pretty happy at the weight I am now. I passed my original weight loss goal (220 pounds). I also drink diet pop and I do drink with my meals. I eat like any normal person does except a lot less. That's it. I probably eat between 1200-1500 calories per day.

A lot of the time, I forget that I've even lost weight until someone I haven't seen in a while says, "Wow Kay! How much weight have you lost??" or "You look great!" I act exactly the same as I always have except I'm skinnier. My patients tell me more often now that I don't look old enough to be a nurse lol So I guess I look younger too!
