Have you thought about throwing out your scale?
- Only 7 wks post op & pregnant.
I dont know how you feel about this but I would abort if it happened to me.- Greek Yogurt made edible
I cant add that because of the sugar. Im preop dieting- Greek Yogurt made edible
So I am on day two of my pre op liquid diet and I am allowed a serving of greek yogurt a day (plain of course) - lovely right? It's hardly edible. Well, I was looking for ways to make it taste better without adding solids or sugar to it and this is what I did today that actually made it tolerable. mix your half a cup of greek with a teaspoon of vanilla extract, a teaspoon of almond extract, and a teaspoon of lemon extract. I also added a pack of splenda. Don't get me wrong, its not great, but its a lot better than before. If anyone has any better ideas please bless me with them. I already tried crystal light in it and honestly that was pretty terrible for me.- Does your stomach growl post op VSG?
I have sort of an embarrassing bodily function! Everyones stomach growls but mine is extreeeeeme. It's actually something that triggers me to over eat because I am compensating for not wanting that to happen while I'm sitting in class. Does this happen post op? What effect does the surgery have on this for people?- Dont flame me
- im beginning to think sleeve surgery is a scam
- Pure Protien Shakes
sugar free would be ideal, but clocking in at ONE gram isn't too bad either. I use EAS carb control and I like them. How do these taste?- Has anyone lost the weight after VSG without exercise?
Can I ask whats promoting this question? If you have some type of disability its understandable but just consider that whatever you lose with just dieting, you can probably lose 35-40% more if you took up exercise as well.- Anyone 5 yr or more post op sleevers?
I have the same date as you, so I cant speak to being post op myself but I can tell you what my surgeon told me which was basically that the sleeve seems to have about equal results as an RNY gastric bypass WITHOUT complications like so many ulcers and absorptive issues.- January 2013 Sleevers?
My date is the 22nd.- loosing slow... 40 lbs in 5 mos
do if you average that over a year thats about 100 pounds. Doesnt sound slow to me HOWEVER, are you counting calories and carbs? Have you started straying away from the basics?- When I drop my weight, I'm going to try (insert answer)!
CROSSFIT! I have done it in the past but I'm sorry, I know they say its scale-able but if you are heavier than about 230 pounds you are going to hurt yourself and/or your joints. My plan is to power down to as light as I can get as fast as I can (ideally about 200) pounds then start crossfit ASAP to take me the rest of the way.- Why am i craving sex
Hello! What a fantastic post. I am a married woman so I opted to get the paraguard IUD so I have an extremely reliable form of birth control. Now that being said, I am married so unless there is some funny business with my husband STDs are not a concern for us, but in your case I would suggest you also use condoms. There is nothing unnatural about wanting sex however if you are not in a long term relationship you should take precautions before proceeding. If you would like to know more about IUDs or birth control feel free to message me- I hate this surgery.
What were your expectations? Did you have a psych consult prior to this surgery? Sounds like you were not prepared for the changes you would face. Unfortunately for you this is not reversible as far as I know so best embrace it however you can and pick yourself up.- Discouraged
You have to check yourself. If this is discouraging you I have to question whether or not your expectations were ever realistic.- pant suze not changing
What gives is that the real world isn't ruled by arbitrary guides like that. Your average 300 pound lady isn't wearing a size 30, and your average 150 woman isnt wearing a size 15. Thats just a guide to MAYBE give someone a GENERAL idea of what might happen.- pant suze not changing
How and where we lose weight is almost entirely determined by genetics. Your one of those people who's midsection is probably going to be the last to go. Thats just how it goes, sorry to say. Keep going and you will get there eventually.- How do you not go broke?
Honestly, embrace minimalism. The people in life who dress the best are usually the ones with a small well curated wardrobe. While you are going down in sizes you should not be purchasing multiple outfits. When I go down a size like I did recently I wen't to walmart and purchased ONE pair of jeans and threw my larger ones out. Underwear should last you through a few sizes because they are not as precisely sized so you shouldnt be needing to buy new underwear every week. Shirts are usually more forgiving. I would say get a few every two sizes you go down. You should not be buying a whole lot more than that. Also seek out clothing exchanges online, there are many of those around.- Anyone on antipsychotics?
You're going to have to give us a more complete thought to be able to offer you any meaningful help- Kansas City Area Sleevers?
Olathe here - Having surgery at MISH in Lenexa on the 22nd- We have to have a drain tube?
just depends on the doctor. If it hasnt been mentioned then more than likely they are not going to give you one.- I think my nightmare has come true.....
I bought a pretty awesome high capacity scale because they tend to be better for those of us on the heavier side. TECHNICALLY I can be on any scale but if you are on the upper spectrum of what your scale can handle and you are having issues getting a good read It's probably time to get something better. PLUS high capacity scales usually last longer because they are made to take more wear and tear. Looks like thats exactly what you did so good on you for that, I am just reiterating for anyone who may be reading this. As for the lack of serious weight loss. You need to realize you had major surgery and your body is recovering from trauma. I think people forget how big of a deal it is within the community because its what we are all talking about so it seems so commonplace but it isn't. Unlike many I am not one who is going to tell you to put away the scale. I believe that as with any medical condition, obesity should be monitored. What I don't want you doing is flipping out and declaring yourself a surgery when you are LESS THAN A MONTH out. That is a terrible mindset to already be falling into.- I Dont Hear Much About Dr. Almanza Anymore........
11pm? Yikes, how early was yours? I am a nurse so I am looking at this from a technical standpoint but how does that work? did he take a nap between surgeries? lol.... Having been in an OR hours on end I know that keeping sterile technique for 45 minutes is hard, I cannot imagine a marathon like that. I have no authority to accuse anyone of being unsafe, but that is questionable in my book for sure but for me its also all hearsay, I have no idea when they start or how true it is that someone was really being operated on at 11pm so who knows.- Need the honest truth, what are the negatives about the sleeve that you wish would have known beforehand.
Your lapband experience is amost identical to mine. I am getting a sleeve this month. I am more scared than most, and certainly less excited but its because I've been there before, I know what challenges likely face me, and I'm wiser for it. Obviously I have not HAD the sleeve yet so I can only say what I know now, but here is the way I look at it, not being head over heals about surgery is probably better than people who are so giddy they are calling their surgeons office every day. We are more realistic. I PURPOSELY search out people who have had terrible experiences with all types of weight loss surgeries, where as before I would have TOLD you that I did that, but in reality I glossed over it, feeling that tons of it was all self inflicted and like that wasn't going to happen to me. Here is what I can tell you - lapband has about the same success rate as Weight Watchers, had I known that I would have never done it. The sleeve has ABOUT the same weight loss as RNY patients, and better long term outcomes as far as complications go. - Only 7 wks post op & pregnant.
