  1. Damn your looking good....congrats
  2. I don't know where to start....I've been fighting this battle for so long and in just ready to give up....I was denied today.....I have the right to appeal but who has the energy....revision to the sleeve is not in my future....I just want to cry and sleep....
  3. Okay I don't think you are selfish, I am really thankful for my support husband but to be honest if he were to make me put off but shows his incentive and lack of care for you....notice every time you said something about him you follow up with a praise for him????its YOUR body, YOUR health and YOUR life....if he loves u he will be there....I can't stand men like this.....I am so not about this kind of a guy...he's lucky you even have him three kids....
  4. Congrats!!!! I know the feeling must be surreal....hope the best for you...I'm waiting for my good news also...low BMI but still have hope...
  5. LMAO....OMG u guys have me on the floor....march 27.....I begin the thinning process...I needed these laughs...right now my husband thinks in crazy Bc I'm laughing so much.....no pre opt diet yet but I see in surgeon in one week maybe then he'll tell me to do it...I'm doing a modified version Bc I read it was good for the liver
  6. Know exactly what you're going through....I've been going through the same since this time last yr.....had the band removed in October as an emergency however, bc it cracked and was causing internal damage. Get it out as soon as possible....I had to wait to heal but also bc my insurance company said it wasn't medically nessary......got a new one under my husband....just submitted final paperwork yesterday...scheduled for March 27, hoping it is approved but working on an alternative in Mexico just in case.
  7. I have BCBS NY I was wondering what were your start weight and height
  8. Thank God someone posted about this.....I'm starting mine tomorrow for two wks and wanted to know some of the acceptable foods...I have my protein shaker and yogurt does it have to be any specific kind? I have Greek....don't really like the taste if the others. Can I do oatmeal I'm really concerned about liver issue
  9. Hi All, My internist just submitted my paperwork to my surgeon's office and the pre-certification girl just texted me to tell me she submitted all the paperwork to the Insurance. Praying a lot because this is a new insurance company and although they have a good track record to approve, I'm a low BMI'er....Im also a teacher so with a small time frame to get this surgery done and back into the class without taking off excessive days. I would have done it in the summer but I'm traveling abroad so if the insurance does not approve in the next two weeks (first denial was after my lapband removal) , I'll have to go to Mexico. I'm making back up plans in Mexico just in case. By the end of March come hell or high water, Im going to be sleeved. My doctors numbers are unrealistic to me. He is looking at me loosing 57-60lbs. If I wanted to loose that amount I wouldn't be taking this surgery. Im right now 5'7" 226 and hoping to get to 148. My BMI will be in the healthy range then and closer to the lower side should in case I fluctuate. Overall Im just going to listen to my body. I've read so many of these posts my husband says I should become a bariatric doctor.....lol....I realized that this surgery is the start and not the end but I'm so glad to have to opportunity to start.. BTW, my surgery is scheduled by March 27....prayerfully I hear from the insurance company by next week this time.
  10. EXCELLENT JOB!!!!....You look Fabulous!
  11. EXCELLENT JOB!!!!....You look Fabulous!
  12. I agree about the two step process. I had my band in for five yrs. in the last three months it caused so much damage my dr wanted me to heal properly first. My surgery (sleeve) is scheduled for march 27. But do whats comfortable for you. We're all here bc we need help. Thank God we have all taken a positive foot forward to do something about it. Last thing we need on this forum is someone being judgmental and telling you to "think about what your doing" I'm sure you've done lots of thinking.
  13. Great Info....still relevant so many years later. Thank you. I actually sent you a friend request on FB. I wanted to learn more about Dr. Alberto Aceves. I am also a revision surgery candidate. I had the lap band removed in October 2013 bc of complications. I couldn't do the revision at that point bc of too much damage and the insurance company didnt want to fund it. I'm now looking into Mexico bc of continued problems with the insurance company. Ironically, I already have the Insanity DVD also. Can't wait to get to the point where I can start it as well. I actually like working out so right now I feel like crap. Hope to get more advice from you. Thanks again.
  14. Congrats you look awesome...keep it up.....you are definitely an inspiration.
  15. Im in a similar boat minus five yrs. I was originally banded in 2008 and had it removed because it cracked and was causing interior abrasions. Because my BMI fell below the required my revision to the sleeve was denied twice under United Healthcare....(my insurance). I then went under my husbands and (BCBS Empire) and waiting. My BMI is only 35.4 and no co morbidities.....getting really depressed but my internist said he'd write the letter for me as medically necessary. I'm hopeful that and believe and know this is the best thing for my health. I totally understand all your fear and it is sad we were told that this device would work now that it turned out to be faulty through no fault of our own the insurance companies are giving us such a hard time. I've never felt this unhealthy in my life. I just hope my new insurance approves my sleeve bc I'm scheduled for surgery on march 27th. Good Luck to you
  16. Well, my Dr. Just completed my "medical necessity" letter. My surgeon is ready to submit on Monday so prayerfully it doesn't take too long. Can't wait for my approval because surgery is scheduled for March 27.
  17. Thàt is so great. Congratulations. Hope all goes well for you.
  18. Hi all....does anyone with BCBS have experience with 35 BMI being approved...no comorbidities yet...testing for diabetes on Saturday.. I was originally banded in 2008 and had it removed because it cracked and was causing interior abrasions. Because my BMI fell below the required my revision to the sleeve was denied under United Healthcare....(my insurance). I then went under my husbands and (BCBS Empire) and waiting. My BMI is only 35.4 and no co morbidities.....getting really depressed but my internist said he'd write the letter for me as medically necessary. I'm hopeful that and believe and know this is the best thing for my health. D Has anyone had success with this insurance comp under similar circumstances?
  19. Wow,truly inspirational.....congrats and keep it up.....or should I say down.....great job
  20. Congrats.....just got my date too about an hr ago....march 26.....sleeve all the way....I had the lap band in 08 then removed it last October of complications....can't wait to be sleeved....
  21. Congratulations, unfortunately, I haven't been so lucky....I was band in 2008. It was removed in 10/2012 bc it cracked and caused internal abrasions. I requested the sleeve and even though my BMI was 30 the insurance company refused. We requested it twice and both times it has been denied. I recently changed insurance company...now on bobs and hopefully it will be approved since my BMI is now at 36.1. I feel so disgusted . If it doesn't happen his time I think ill just go to Mexico but really don't want o. These insurance companies are so malicious. They take all our money and when it comes to things like his they get away with it. All in all I won't give up. This is for my health, my family and for myself. And I will get it done
  22. Has anyone had surgery with Dr. Bessler out of Columbia and can tell me their experience? Also did you have it at Columbia in NYC or Valley in Ridgewood? I might be having mine in Columbia NYC....heard the dr there are some of the best....they are actually also pioneering the sleeve procedure to fix other medical issues besides weight loss
  23. I had the Lapbadn done by Dr. Doug Ewing in Hackensack. After five years and only loosing 44lbs, the device leaked then cracked and I had it removed. Bc I was under the 35 BMI my insurance company denied my Sleeve request. My dr has put me on a weight loss plan. He's put me on Phentermine, and although legal and it doesn't make me jittery, I havent slept well since being on it. I don't like it bc I think its something that only lasts for a short time and when Im off it the weight will come back. I have another Dr. appt on the 19th and I've written down my concerns and how its made me feel. I wanted to know if anyone else has gone this course, before surgery of course? And if so are my concerns founded or did it jump start your weight loss. Trecia
  24. Congrats......it will be a success and so will you with your weight loss.
