    Sleeve vs band

The surgeon at the hospital I work at actually stopped doing the band due to all of the complications.

    Help

I used a baby spoon during that phase...chicken might be a bit heavy yet.

    Why weight loss surgery?

To allow for a healthy pregnancy/birth.

    5 Confessions (Join In)

I am back...again! :-) 1. I confess I have no interest in watching the inauguration, even though my husband is super disappointed in me. 2. I confess I have not been eating or drinking enough or getting my protein in but I did today. 3. I confess that I have been watching the food network and enjoy it more than eating! 4. I confess that I am afraid that I won't make it to goal. 5. I confess that the cheeseburger thread really made me want one! Lol 6. I confess that nothing tastes as good as it looks and I am sometimes disappointed by how little I can eat.

    NSV

I love the nsv posts...I officially retired my pre-surgery jeans and a few pairs of sweats even! My winter jacket is too big too. I'm also able to di stairs without huffing and puffing! :-)

    Height, Weight, And Size Poll

My starting/surgery weight was 325, I was in a tight 28 pants and 4 to 5x tops. Surgery on 12-11-12 and I now weigh 281. Pants are 24's now and tops 3 to 4x. I don't have a set goal weight as of yet because I haven't been less than 200 as an adult but I am thinking 180 would be great!

    Books to read

I just finished The Cinderella Pact about 3 friends who vow to lose weight (each by a different means), it is told from one persons perspective though. Kind of romancy too. It wasn't too bad.

    Cannot believe it!

Congratulations! I cannot wait to fit into just an xl or large!

    Full feeling

I think you just need to give it time...I had doubts it had truly worked too! I didn't truly feel restriction until I got to soft foods and then bam, there it was. 8 lbs is not bad for a week and a half...sometimes it take a while for those fluids from the hospital to come off. Don't be discouraged!

    Cheeseburgers?

I think it's great that some of you are strong enough never to eat 'unhealthy' again but this is not true for all of us and is not cause for the type of judgement that is being passed. I do plan on enjoying some unhealthy foods because to enjoy in moderation for me allows me a somewhat 'normal' lifestyle and I don't want to give that up. I am not too surprised that Dianne responded so negatively to many of you because the responses to her honest post were rude and sarcastic. This thread really has me disappointed, no offense meant to op...it just got taken to a bad place.

    Cheeseburgers?

Really? I am honestly so disappointed with where this thread has taken people. You would think you could come to a website like this to get support and have conversations and I would also think it's the last place that I would have to worry about being called fat and someone rubbing it in that it's my fault I'm fat for whatever reason. You should be ashamed of this comment...it is just beyond rude.

    Cheeseburgers?

I'll eat a chesseburger right along with you...someday (only 5 weeks out) I am not big on complete deprivation as I have found in the past that it only spurs bingeing and such!
  13. Wow, you look great...just losing weight everywhere!

    Garage Sales

    I love yard sales!
  15. I think that with a trip I would want some clothes that fit. You can always try clearance racks, discount stores like tj max and marshall's, or my all-time favorite is goodwill. I have plenty of clothes from before, so I have been very lucky.

    Im shrinking

Congrat's, I can definitely see it! I am 43 pounds down and it is crazy how much difference there is...maybe we see it because it happened so fast?
  17. I personally think that everyone is different...if you are tolerating it then I don't see a problem. I personally have a problem because I can't just sit and sip all day...I have a 2 y/o who wants what I have and also a job where I am busy and on the move a lot so I can't just keep something in front of me all the time. When I do have those moments, I can drink fairly fast too.

    Crab eggs

hahahaha I'm with laura...never heard of crab eggs before! lol

    Loose skin

I think that those two things are definitely on your side. 4 years of being that big plus only being 26, I think that you have pretty good chances of your skin coming back. I am unfortunately not so lucky, at 32 y/o and being big forever I can already see that I am going to need plastics.

    Pictures

wow, you're looking so skinny! Cpngrats!
  21. Well, now you don't have to wait for almost 2 years after surgery! Congratulations!
  22. I am only 5 weeks out and other than a few moments immeditely after surgery I have not regretted it! At 5 weeks out, I have lost 40 pounds and that 40 pound loss has free'd me in so many ways! I can only imagine what a year can do! My breathing/activity tolerance and sleeping are so much better already. I'm very happy and looking forward to the next year.

    Sleeve vs band

I opted for the sleeve over the band because I also think having a foreign object in your body is just asking for something bad to happen. The adjustments and frequent office visits were another negative for me. There are a lot of people on here who have had the sleeve after the band failed too. Good luck in whatever you decide!
  24. Congratulations! You are very close to my start weight and you weigh very close to my goal, so exciting to see it has happened for someone else!
