I had my first bad episode on valentines night. Made a big dinner for me and my hubby. Lobster tails, stuffed salmon, rib eye steak for him, baked potatoes and steamed spinach. I took one bite of lobster and it didn't sit well with my sleeve. Instant pain in my chest that just wouldn't go away. I ended up going upstairs and throwing up. I was a mess. I'm so surprised because absolutely nothing has bothered me so far. I was 5 weeks and 1 day and had been eating solids for a couple of weeks. So much for celebrating my 30th anniversary. Boy am I glad we decided to stay in this year because that would have been embarrassing in a restaurant. I guess the moral of the story is, even if you think your sleeve can handle anything, proceed with caution!
Yikes! Good to know.
(BTW - you prepared an amazing dinner. Sorry you couldn't enjoy it. Happy Anniversary!)

Straws let in air when you use them. My Dr told me no more straws period.
Yep, that's what my Dr told me.

Hi-
I was sleeved jan 10th and I lost 20 lbs first 2 weeks and now have been stalled for 2 weeks. I lost 1 lb last week. I have been struggling with getting in Protein shakes and fluids since I advanced from full liquids. From what I read getting in all your Protein and fluids helps with the weight loss....so today I cut back to 2 oz per meal and concentrating on getting in all my fluids and protein. Hopefully that will help.
I expected stalls along the way, but it stinks!

You may have drank too fast and now have air in your sleeve. Try gas x.
I agree

I have heard that it takes constant abuse to stretch the sleeve. Remember the stretchy part was removed I believe the dietary restrictions are given to us to make sure we can tolerate the food we eat. The last thing the docs want us to do is throw up the 500-600 calories we manage to get in. I think you are just fine....but don't do it again

Anyone else not tell coworkers that they were sleeved? How have you handled it or how do you plan to handle the weight loss questions?

Hi!
I'm 5'3 I was sleeved Jan 10th. SW 200. 4 weeks out and 180lbs.
Good luck to everyone waiting to get sleeved.
Congrats to those of you almost to goal!!

I'm 4weeks out and have lost 20 lbs. I'm 5'3. Day of surgery weighed 200lbs. Now 180lbs. I've heard that lower BMI lose slower. I will be happy with a 8-10 lb weight loss per month. That should hopefully get me to my goal weight in 5 months.

I'm also always cold.

Today I started full liquids...so I attempted to drink my Protein Shake by total lean shake....I took about 4 sips and about 1hour later, I had those lactose intolerant bouts....feeling like I was having contractions...omg.... Diarrhea 3times...omg...the label read its lactose free, my Nutritionist said it should be safe since I am highly lactose intolerant. Omg....I'm afraid to sip it again...so I went back to my G2 and mixed my Protein liquid in it.
Can u tolerate lactose free milk ? I mix my powder protein with Lactaid milk

Congrats to all the new sleevers!
2 weeks postop today down 12.5 lbs. Started purée stage, so far not having any difficulty eating 2 oz each meal. But didn't do so great with the liquids

So my family is having spaghetti & garlic bread. I made the ricotta bake for me. However I decided to try some garlic bread, I am in so much pain. It's like it's stuck in my back. I hope I don't puke. Uggggh never again!
Oh no!! How far out r u?

I'm an RN in a hospital -12 hour shifts. There is no " taking it easy" at work for me. So my Dr. recommends 6-8 weeks. Luckily it's paid by my disability insurance so I plan on taking all 8 weeks.

I was also sleeved on the 1/10 and my course is just like dollbaby1969. Maybe going too fast for your sleeve to handle.
-
I totally agree!! I will be ecstatic if I can lose 10lbs a month until goal!! Having surgery on Wednesday so I cannot wait to experience what you are. I have twin toddlers and a 8 month old so I am worried that all their food is going to tempt me. Hopefully it will just like your experience!!
You will do great!! I promise you my willpower prior to being sleeved was not great. Lol

I'm ready!!! Tuesday cannot come soon enough!
Good luck !!

I was heavier. Started at 268 surg day I was 228. Now 218. First time I've weighed less than my hubby in over a decade. I won't mind going slow but it concerns me to see a whole week with no movement so soon. I will actually do better I think when I'm back on solids cause the stuff I can eat now is full if carbs. Cream of wheat, puddings, cream Soups. And frankly really low in Protein. For breakfast I ate a pkg of cream of wheat with a scoop of chocolate protein powder which was good (way better than trying to add artificial sweeteners) but that gave me I think 20 g carbs and 280 cals in addition to 29g protein. I was thinking today maybe it's better to just stay on clear liquids and Protein Shakes. That way I should stay in ketosis.
That is great weighing less than hubby!! I admit I wouldn't be all that thrilled not seeing a weight change this early. I have seen posts from others that say when they don't see the scalepving they still see the loss in inches. Hang in there. I'm sure it will fall off again soon. Are I taking in more than 800 calories? I think I read somewhere that during full liquids the calorie intake is around 600-800 calories.

That's amazing! I'm jan 9 and I've been at 10lbs lost for almost a week now. Getting a little frustrated.
I'm jan 10th and also down 10 lbs. My pre surgery BMI was 37 (210 lbs). I weighed 201lbs day of surgery and now 190lbs. At first I was a little frustrated and then I laughed at myself.....it's been over 5 years since I had a 10lb loss and seen my weight begin with a 1!! Would I love for it to happen fast you bet, but if I average 10lbs a month I will take it!!

I was dizzy and lightheaded at certain times for about 2 weeks postop. Your blood sugar is probably low, and u cut calories drastically. Keep getting in all your fluids. It will pass when calories increase. If any concerns call your dr to make sure.
