    anyone forget to feed others?

JessicaAnn - your post made me laugh out loud. When I was growing up a neighbor's husband said something similar to her and she went on strike too. I remember her sitting out on her front lawn in a lawn chair at dinner time, reading a magazine & drinking coffee. Her husband and 4 kids were left to fend for themselves. She did this for about 4 nights and after that she was always treated like a queen. Sometimes I just send my husband out to get dinner - salad with chicken for me and he can get whatever. Tonite I think he's getting a pizza!!

    No loss

I'm just days away from my 6 month anniversary of surgery. The weight loss has s l o w e d WAY down, and when I do lose it's .2 or .4. I can feel frustrated at times, because I am exercising and following the food guidelines. I usually drink 9 to 11 8 oz glasses of water a day, plus some herbal tea and 8 oz of fat free milk a day. I had to do some 'self-talk' and tell myself (repeatedly & usually when I am on or just off the scale!!) that this is a life long journey. If I keep following this way of life, the weight will come off. I feel better than I ever have and that in itself is a great thing. When I walk before dinner with my husband (trying to get him to live a healthier lifestyle) he works to keep up with me. That was not the case prior to the surgery or lifestyle changes. I believe that we will get to our weight goals and along the way we reach other goals, like moving easier, feeling more energetic, wearing smaller clothes, being healthier, getting off medications and feeling so much better about ourselves.

    Popcorn

What does your food plan from your medical team say? I would just say that popcorn is for me, a slider food, I can eat a lot of it. AND it doesn't help meet my Protein goals. I'm almost 6 months out and when I do eat popcorn, the next day or two my weight is UP! Not what you want to see - so I now limit myself to once a month I have a little popcorn. Check your food plan & see when it is allowed for you. Good luck!
  6. Thank you for posting these and for sharing your story. I am absolutely getting PS on my breasts and likely a tummy tuck. I'm happy to hear it wasn't as painful as you thought it would be.
  7. You look amazing!! Great results from your hard work. I too am 15 lbs from goal. I have a follow-up with my sleeve surgeon in 3 weeks - I will definitely ask for a recommendation to a plastic surgeon! Wouldn't hurt to go for a consult! I'd like a TT & reduction/lift.

    I'm issuing a weekend challenge

You are psychic girl! I just cleaned out my closet (for the 4th time since surgery - had a wide variety of sizes in there) and the bags are in the back of the car to bring to Salvation Army tomorrow!! We're all working hard to lose the weight - wearing old baggy clothes not only makes us feel schlumpy - we look bigger than we are in them.

    Knee issues

I too have knee issues - been working with a Physical Therapist& a trainer to strengthen the muscles around the knee. I do squats with an exercise ball against the wall. It keeps me in perfect form with my knees over my heels and only go down until right before pain. I also sit on a chair and lift my leg slowly up til my leg is straight and slowly lower it to the floor. I do 10 reps 3x on each leg. I also do straight leg raises - lie on the floor with one leg bent and foot on the floor. tighten the top of my thigh on the straight leg & Slowly raise the other leg about 10 inches off the floor keeping the thigh muscle tight, then slowly lower it to the floor. I do those 10 reps 3 x each leg. I do Quad sets - lie on the floor, bend one knee, foot on the floor other leg straight. tighten the straight leg, sort of pushing the back of the knee to the floor , hold for 5 seconds and release. I do those 10 reps 3x each leg. After doing all these I do quad stretches. These have helped SO much that I can now walk 4-5 miles without having knee pain. I still can't run without knee pain - and that's OK with me, walking at a fast pace is fine. Good luck.

    Happy Mother's Day! Mom Stories

Happy Mother's Day to all!! My kids are grown (34 & 31) but I am hoping that someday there will be grandkids and I will be able to run & play with them. I am hoping that I'll be able to 'help out' by taking care of any grandkids a few days a week so my kids (that includes my children's spouses) can work without the concern of paying for daycare at least 2-3 days a week. It's soooooo much easier to get on the floor and get back up again since I've lost weight. enjoy the day everyone - every day actually!!

    slow losers discouraged?

You look great! I am in the 50's (hahaha at least for a few more months anyway) and weight does come off slower. But that's OK - this is a journey we'll be for for the rest of our lives......and since I plan to be here for a L O N G time, especially now that I am getting so healthy, I've got time. My weight loss is going very slowly now and my medical team & personal trainer all say that it is a good way to lose. I think it's helping me to work on developing more patience with myself. Just keep to your medical team's plan and it will come off. Good luck, keep us all posted - we're here to support you.
  15. What wonderful news! - I hope it is long lasting for you. The scale is great, but I find the non-scale victories so much sweeter. Like coming off all of my diabetes meds. I will keep you in my thoughts. Keep us posted we're all rooting for you!!

    Tanning Beds

I'm trying to get my legs tanned so I don't have to wear stockings at a wedding I am going to in about 4 weeks. So right now I am going 3x a week - 7 minutes each time. I'll then go 2x a week until my visits expire/summer in New England arrives.

    Hiatal Hernia...

Mine was repaired at the time of my surgery.......I didn't know I had it before the surgery. BUT, it would explain the awful heartburn I had for years prior to the surgery!!

    Tanning Beds

I got it at my tanning salon. It was a little pricey $45. But you don't have to use much, so it will last a long time.

    Tanning Beds

I use J WOWW lotion, it has a bronzer in it. I like it a lot, it's better than others I have used in the past.
  21. So I lose a pound and then hover up & down a couple of ounces from that weight for a week or so....then I'll lose a pound and back to the hovering. BUT, today I had to go shopping for new pants size 12!!! Yep, down from a size 22 when I began this fabulous journey. I just keep to the plan, eating my Protein ( average 60-100 per day) and my Water ( 8 - 12 8oz glasses a day) and exercise (which is my new love) and tracking every day I figure the last 16 pounds WILL come off. By choice I don't eat bread, Pasta, rice and I don't miss it. Maybe someday I will and then I'll have some. But veggies, fruits, the ever wonderful protein( fish, chicken, pork, Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, Lactaid & no sugar added Carnation Instant Breakfast) and occasionally some Skinny Pop popcorn. Beef still doesn't sit well with me, so I just don't have it now. I feel the best I have in years and am so happy! Wishing everyone a wonderful week.

    All of my December sleevers...

5 months today - 58 lbs lost. Only 16 more to go! Like others, I bounce up and down a pound or two - for a week or two at a time, then lose 1 or 2 lbs. And then bounce around again. I just keep doing the program, exercising, drinking my water. I'm sure I will reach goal, but it may take a little time.

Any success stories for the 50's group?

I was sleeved December 3rd, 2012. It's 5 months today!! I am 59 yo - and only 16 lbs from goal!! You can do it, just follow your medical team's plan. You might hit stalls, but keep to the plan and the weight comes off. Good luck
