1st Appointment Today/ Blue Shield PPO
Stef replied to kris1189's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have BCBS PPO (Massachusetts) and was approved the same week my surgeon's office submitted the paperwork. No medically supervised diet was required. -
Another vote for MyFitnessPal. I track everything I eat and all my exercise. It's paired with a Fitbit that I almost always (sometimes I forget) carry with me. It's a great tool.

It's very much a "Just Do It" thing for me too. I don't look forward to it, I don't like it when I'm there, I don't like the extra laundry, I don't like losing an hour out of every day, but I still go 5 days a week. Every Week. No exceptions. I doubt I'll ever like going to the gym, but I DO like what it's doing for me. 91 pounds down, off my BP meds, blood sugar back into normal ranges, energy is up and my clothes sizes keep on getting smaller. That's why I keep going. Just Do It!

Who is scheduled for Jan 8th? I'm getting nervous
Stef replied to 2013isit's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
90 pounds gone! Unfortunately, I think half of that is hair. There's a kitten's worth in the shower every time I wash my hair! -
Would You Have Weight Loss Surgery Again?
Stef replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Irony. You has it. -
If you're Going. To. Go. Nuts. because you can't drink then I think you need another type of support group.

Who gives a rat's ass what she thinks. I didn't do this for her.

It misses you? -
Six surgeries in one day? That's quite an assembly line!

Susan, was your surgery laparoscopic or open?

Is vomiting going to be the new normal?
Stef replied to takingbackcontrol's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's definitely not the new normal for me. I vomited once post-op and it was completely my fault because I ate too fast. -
Relaxing on the 30/30 rule?
Stef replied to mysleevemylife's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think if you trusted your surgeon enough to cut you open and rearrange your innards you should follow their post-op advice. Just my opinion. -
can you put ointment on incisions?
Stef replied to ladylei0's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If they were glued you shouldn't put anything on them until the glue falls off. -

Vets-Do you eat "back" the calories you burn through exercise?
Stef replied to M2G's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
Yup. I ignore that too. I don't change my target numbers just because I went to the gym. Like Fiddleman, I might have a shake after I get back from the gym, but not if it knocks me over my target for the day. -
Nope, my crystal ball is out for repairs. Barring complications, most people spend one or two nights in the hospital depending on their health and what time of day they hit the table. Your surgeon would be able to tell you more about your particular situation.

protein shakes make me gag. HELP!
Stef replied to bellarae's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I feel for you, really. I tried every powder I could find and they ALL made me gag. There's just something about that whey protein smell that turns my stomach. The only Protein shake that worked for me is Premier Protein pre-mixed shakes. 30g protein, 160 calories, 5g carbs. I wouldn't have been able to have the surgery if it weren't for them. -

Old Habits Die Hard...
Stef replied to MsVictorious1020's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That stuff is like crack. We would get a dozen boxes of that every year from different vendors and people swooped down on it like vultures. It was not pretty. -

There's nothing wrong with cheeseburgers, especially if you have them with some popcorn and wash them down with a nice cocktail. -
Didn't have a drain.
