  1. Hey, goldie how did your appt go?I love dr srikanth-in the beginning i had some trouble getting thru to the office-some unanswered phone calls and such but they are a busy office..but once I had surgery everything has been great. there is a support group that meets once a month- I just started going- you do not have to be banded yet to go- i would encourage it- if you have more specific questions for me pm me and I would happy to answer them.
  2. Wasa- congrats on reaching your goal- That is tremendous weight loss in only 10 months!!!question is-are you still only consuming 600 calories a day?
  3. I had no scabbing- my steristrips all fell off by day 14
  4. My fill is on oct 18th- at this point I can pretty much eat anything as well- I am just mentally trying to prepare myself for my fills- I heard most people do not feel any restriction until their third fill. I only lost 1 lb in the last couple of weeks.
  5. I believe it is every 6 mo-unless you are having complications.
  6. I just got a copy of my bill- it was about $48k...outrageous- I had open gall bladder surgery and stayed in hospital 5 days-that only cost $33k.
  7. Redgirl- I was banded on 9/5 also- I have been eating anywhere from 1/4 c to 1 cup- even though the instructions are really 2 oz at a time- This is the time where we have to train our minds that we can only eat so much-my calorie content has been as low as 700 cal-1100 cal. I was up 4 lbs last week but then dropped it again- it also has to do with the water consumption-if we aren't drinking enough-I know I am not- then the weight loss will stall- you will be fine-just eat a little at a time- then wait-if you really are still hungry then have something once you are sure you are hungry.
  8. I am right there with ya Jachut- I cannot parallel park worth a damn!
  9. here is mine..
  10. Ok, guys- I am 4 weeks post op and I started the gym today- I want to know what everyone did for exercise when they were newly banded- what worked, what didn't.. today I did 35 min cardio-combo of elliptical, bike, and treadmill.. plus some arm exercises-Any input is appreciated!
  11. at my post op visit- almost three weeks out-my doc said no limit on exercise-Today I started back at the gym- tomorrow is my one month bandiversary- I did pretty good- did a total of 35 min cardio and some arms.
  12. I am 4 weeks out and am still bloated-but I think the more water you get in-the less bloated you are- so continue to drink as much water as possible- I know that is my problem-not enough water...
  13. Good luck with your surgery Diane-you deserve it!
  14. They say your body gets used to a routine-so change up your workout routine a bit-maybe increase your cardio- or do cardio one day, weights the next day, etc. mix it up a bit and see if that makes a difference.
  15. Ok, so i was banded almost one month ago- today I joined a gym- I just moved into a new area so I had to join a new one anyways-so me and my 14 y/o daughter will be starting tomorrow- I am going to start at 3 x a week and see what happens.
  16. My hunger comes and goes- this week not much hunger-I agree it is amazing how much just 5 pounds is! I get my fill on the 18th- I just am taking it one day at a time- you are lucky you have no hunger yet- hopefully it will stay that way- I guess that is the point of why we chose lap band-keep up the good work!!
  17. My doc recommends- 3500 mg of calcium and 4 chewable multivitamins per day
  18. I too have been struggling for the last couple of weeks since starting on mushies- I have tried really hard to concentrate on getting my protein in first, then other meals second. This has helped - the other day scale said I had gained 4 lbs- now I am down that 4 lbs, plus another pound-this is all a process-I think the mushies is hard because it is mostly carbs- plus the body is trying to adjust to moving from liquid stage.
  19. My doc has me on a min. of 60- if you follow the guidelines of only eating 3 small meals a day-you would not get very close to getting enough protein in simply from food- that is why most docs recommend 2-3 protein drinks per day, plus your meals.
  20. Congrats Dave- you are doing great! Keep up the good work-My one month is on wednesday- I am right behind you at 35lbs- aren't you glad you did this? i know I am:)
  21. I am on mushies too-the other day my scale said I gained 4 lbs-but today back down 3- I was told to eat 3 very small meals plus protein- so I am trying keep myself on a schedule so I know when it is time to eat- I would keep a food journal if you do not do so- so that you can see the daily difference and what is working and what is not working- the hunger for me comes and goes-if you are doing protein faithfully then I guess one normal meal would be ok, but eventually the goal is to eat 3 meals a day with no snacking. You may have some restiction without a fill-make sure you are getting all your nutrients. You need to eat to lose weight, the weight loss may plateau if you are not getting in enough calories. I haven't lost anything for almost two weeks-my dr said many people gain weight before their first fill.
  22. it could have been the diovan or the tums- i was told to only take liquid meds in the beginning- i have just moved up to pills recently- i am in week 4 now.
