Let's Check In November 2012 Sleevers!

My surgery was 11-26-12 and I have done great...until 9 days ago :/! I was taken off all of my medications with the exception of Prilosec and Topamax (for migraine) well one of the meds I was on Spiranolactone was a diuretic, 3 days after stopping it was my weigh day and I put on 5 pounds. I cannot get the scale to budge at all not even one ounce. I am getting all my water, protien and if I am not doing Zumba or Kettle bell workout I am walking heck I even roller skated this past weekend with my daughter. Still no budge with the pudge. I am getting so frustrated. Back when I could when I hit a plateau I would binge eat forget the diet I was on gain it all back plus some. So I am hoping to see the scale move SOON!!
  4. Just a little information for anyone considering an IUD, I have never had one, and I am a little scared so that's why I am here reading. If your gynocologist deems it medically necessary you can have an IUD implanted while sedated in the operating room. That's how mine is being done and my insurance covers it she said most insurance companies will cover it. It took me two phone calls to get all my other drs on board with it and I am having it done in a few weeks.

    Any Michigan Sleevers?

Hi my name is Jamie, I had a FANTASTIC Dr, her name is Dr. Karen McFarlane in Port Huron, Mi. I had my surgery on 11-26-12. I feel great and I am excited to find a Michigan section just to know there are other people that have this procedure out there is great. So many people are so secretive around here. It's personal, I know but it would be nice to problem solve with someone else that's had this procedure. Looking forward to talking to some of you!

I am doing great the only complaint I have is periodic hives in different areas. No where near my incisions but everywhere else. No pain anymore. Is yours gas? If it is, walking or standing helped me expel it. Mine was always right sided as well. Have you advanced to full liquids? Shakes, or thinned fat free cream soups? I tried my first little bit of soup two nights ago and put pepper on it BIG mistake! My stomach burned all night. I thought I was on fire.

Let's Check In November 2012 Sleevers!

Hi! My name is Jamie. I live in Michigan. I had my surgery on 11-26-12. I had to do the 6 month pre authorization diet per my insurance company. I was successful. I lost 50 pounds, with the help of Adipex, Topamax and determination. I have PCOS so one of my goals once I get the "all clear" in a year or two is to have another child. My husband and I have one beautiful daughter, she is 5 we adopted her. We were there from the second she was born. The moment she was "out" the nurses handed her to us and she's been ours ever since. We tried fertility treatments, with no success but I was at my highest weight and I had a fertility Dr that cared more about money than my health. I realized after 18 months of never ovulating it just wasn't going to happen. So we quit. I was 368#s. Today I am in a much healthier place in my life, I tried and succeeded with weight watchers and got down to 320-325. But I just hovered there. That's when my Dr and I decided on the VS. My pre 6 month weight was 314 My pre surgery weight was 264 I am very excited to see what the future holds.

    Got My Date!dec 10Th! Bb

The 2 week pre-op diet is pretty easy. Mine was 3 8oz high protein shakes (27grams)made with Whey Protien Isolate, 4 cups lettuce per day with 2 tsp oil and vinegar, 1 yougurt under 100 calories, my "treats" we're 2 1/2 cup servings of jell-o, 2 1C low sodium broths, and I could have any decafinated, non-carbonated drinks. Plus lots of water. I am now 6 days post-op and I feel GREAT!!
