    Periods and restriction??

I get restricted the week before my period. With ot without a fill. I wish it was mre consistant but I guess we cannot control that. I do try to drink more water during that time and it seems to help a little bit.
  2. You look fantastic! A cruise sounds like so much fun, especially because you were able to do all of those fun activities! Maybe I should try one.

    Morning Eating Problems

How about a protien shake. They can fill you up and give you some added energy. I like them because, when I have a fill, I can get them down relatively quickly.

    Trim Kids

Both kids are in extra activities. My older daughter is blessed with a metabolism that won't quit. My little one ( she is 8) tends to be chubby. She is very active but eats too much sometimes. I really hope that she grows into her weight but in case that doesn't happen I want her to at least settle the gaiing down. I don't want her to got through what I have over the years.

    Trim Kids

Has anyone ever heard of or used Trim Kids? (the book not the video) My little girl is a little heavy and from what I can see this book helps to incorporate healthy eating and exercise. Actually it will help me do it for her. I don't want her to read it or even know that I think she is heavy.I remember how damaging that can be. Any feedback would be great.

    eat too much!!!help

Sounds like you might need a fill. I know that when I had to get an un-fill it was so easy to go back to my old habits. Insted, after a little bit, I went back to the basics. Counting protien and watching what I ate. I aslo tried to stay away from the foods that were my problems (ice cream and cookies) So far so good. I would call the Dr. and tell them you need a fill. It is hard enough to stay on track with the right restriction, why try to do it without.
  7. I ran into something similar, my gyno "doesn't believe" in weight loss surgery. She actually told me that all I had to do was eat less and exercise more. Couldn't believe it...she was about 90 pounds soaking wet. Just because they are doctors doesn't mean that they know everything. Good luck and find a doctor that supports you!
  8. Several months ago I was having pain in my stomach/right chest. (about a month prior to this I had my fill removed due to sudden unbelieveable restriction) Had a ultrasound and it showed no stones. My doctor thought it was still my gallbladder and sent me for a HIDA scan. Turns out that the gallbladder wasn't functioning properly. Followed the diet instruction, low fat and such. Continued to have some mild problems. Two all out attacks, one of which landed me in the emergency room. The gallbladder was removed last Monday. Everything went fine, must say that the recovery was a lot easier with this than when they put the band in. Even the gas was better but that could have been because I moved around so much after the surgery. Was only out of work for 3 days. Felt pretty good. The only real restrictions that I have are to avoid fatty food and to stay on a low fat diet for a month. I can do that. Then Friday night pain started in the center of my chest and I had a burning at the base of my throat.I took some Tums, got a little relief but the pain didn't go away entirely. Same thing Saturday, only it wasn't just at night. Thought maybe I had overdid it so I took it easy. Sunday was the worst, a pretty constant pain between my breast and left chest, not my heart but in that area, last night, was the worst. I was having trouble sleeping and again took Tums, Maalox too. Felt a little relief but again not total relief. A lot of gas, burping and passing gas. Called the doctors office today. I couldn't speak to the doctor because he was in surgery, spoke to the nurse. She told me to get some prilosec OTC. She says that it is probably reflux. I asked her why it would come on so suddenly, she said that sometimes it happens. I was so excited (sick as it sounds) to have the gallbladder removed, thought I would be back to my old self again. And now this. I am worried. I have pretty good restriction. I have no fill. Cannot really chow down. Could this sudden turn of events mean something is wrong with the band, or could it be from the surgery? I see the doctor on Thursday for the follow up for the surgery. I am worried that there is something else wrong here.
  9. I am in sitting about .5 pounds away from onederland. Would love to be 190.5 by the 21st. Hopefully will get a fill next week, that should kick it into gear.

    ID bracelets

I am confused, If this it is a problem to be intubated why don't the doctors that put the band in insist that we all have some kind of identifier?

    SELF PAY - Gallbladder problems??

I just went through the gallbladder thing. I am 9 months post op and it was miserable. Ask the doctor to send you for a HIDA scan that way they can tell you if it's functioning properly. No reason to try to figure it out on your own. I would think that any insurance co would not see it as a complication of the band.
  15. Thank you. I had my husband raise the bed. I don't have any burning feeling at night. I am hoping that maybe I caught this early. Thank you for the advise. I will take any I can get.

2 ?'s - port pain and pregnancy tests

My period went a little wacky for the first 6 months after banding. But I would call the doctor and ask them to do a blood test. As far as the port goes mine will ache for no reason at all. Not always just sometimes.

  19. I just went and had a scope, the Dr. said that the band looks good. He said to take prilosec 2x a day and that should help. He said that there is no reason no to get a fill, my esophagus is irritated and thats probably what started the reflux.

What is a gallbladder attack like?

I just recently went through this very thing. I was having pain, not always sharp and stabbing. Sometimes it was just a pressure under the right ribcage. I was having pain in the middle of my chest that wasn't heart pain but pain none the less. I had a HIDA scan that showed that it was not functioning properly. I tried to eat low fat but the fat wasn't always what set it off. I finally ended up in the emergency room, called my band Doctor who had me scheduled the following week for gallbladder removal. I had it removed and feel so much better. I wasn't willing to keep having these "attacks" especially because there wasn't or I wasn't able to figure out a common denominator. Make sure you have the HIDA scan It was re-assuring to know that that was what it was. And now the relief!!

When did you notice hair loss?

Mine starting coming out about 4 months after surgery. I think it has finally stopped. For a while it was alot at one time then as time went on it started to slow down. Don't get me wrong, it itsn't as much hair as before but I have all of those little hairs sticking up all over from re-growth. Hopefully this means it will be back to normal soon.

    Acid Reflux Question

I have never had reflux before and just recently started. I will be asking Dr. Abkin for a prescription for something tomorrow. Hopefully he'll go with it. I do not fully understand why it started but am happy that the prilosec helps. Talk about a miserable feeling. I do not understand why he would say no to a drug that helps. Does it do something bad to the band?

    Road to Onederland Challenge!

Well I didn't make it to onderland, but close 1 more pound would have done the trick. I am going in the right direction, had a little detour this past week (gallbladder removal) but am going to try to stay on track. Congrats to all that made their goals.
