Got god?
like i said...it seems ironic that this is allowed and people bickering are not. I could say a whole lot about my atheist type "beliefs" that would get a ton of back lash because people get very offended when talking about their god. once again...it seems ironic that it is allowed...not that it was breaking any rules.

Reward at Goal..need ideas!
I want to buy a really sexy, cute, expensive dress. I have never had one because my weight fluctuated so much, but now I have confidence that I will reach goal and be near goal for the rest of my life.

Got god?
it seems ironic to me that people arguing and bickering gets a moderator to step in, but someone can post something so controversial that has nothing to do with weight loss surgery and its allowed. I will not be forwarding and I will be "praying" that this thread gets deleted.

Why I Post aka That guy's an A Hole
in my opinion, hard asses are strong, leaders, motivators and most importantly the ones who succeed! I do not coddle or enable. We all will eat something "naughty" at some point in time and some of us may fall off the wagon, but you will never see me posting on a forum of all the crap I ate...looking for someone to support me in going back to my bad habits. If I can change myself and get myself back on the wagon and in the right direction, then there is no one else on this planet that could do it for me. I prefer to have friends who are supportive, but who will kick me when I need it. If I let my fire go down, then I need someone to throw some burn on there for me...not to smother me...I want my fire to burn bright and long!

2 months out, down 45
wow. it has been that long already? wow how time flies. I think that is the greatest thing to come out of having surgery. I feel, for the first time, that my weight goal is attainable and maintainable. Keep going sistah!

Help a fat person run a marathon
Wow. good to know. I had no idea. I'm going to really have to work at it then. They must have made a special event for that chic on extreme weight loss who ran a marathon. Good job on accomplishing all of those runs!!!

Help a fat person run a marathon
Thank you for the input. I will take all into consideration. Is it really aggressive to run a marathon in a year and a half? I honestly have no idea, but I do know I like running and the way it makes me feel.

Help a fat person run a marathon
Hello, I want to run a marathon next year. This seems a daunting task being that I am still approximately 80 pounds over weight. I had surgery on January 30th, 2013 and currently have lost 91 pounds. I am 5'6" and currently weigh 220 pounds. I have entered myself in the color run here in Hawaii which is in November and have slowly started running. I basically run for a minute, walk for a minute etc. until I can't stand it. To all of those out there who have already accomplished this goal or those striving for this goal...how in the world do I start training for this? Should I focus on my weight loss or running? The honolulu marathon I am aiming for is in December of 2014 so I have almost a year and a half to train.

New Goals
It is time for me to set some new goals. I am half way through the ones I have already set and I am finding the most important aspect of all of this for me is not the scale, but my fitness level. I absolutely love the fact that I can stay on the stair mill longer than the thin people next to me. I love that I am always in the gym with all the regulars. I relish in the the fact that my cardiovascular fitness is soon to pass my husbands....bwuahahahahah (evil laugh). I was working my biceps the other day and in the mirror I noticed a new definition in my forearm. I have never in my life seen that! Just to recap: These are the goals I have accomplished 1. Get under 300 pounds 2. Get under 250 pounds 3. Weigh less than when I was preggo (230 lbs) 4. Be able to do a straight hour of moderate/intense cardio sesh 5. engagement ring fits again! (its tight, but it goes on) Yet to accomplish: 1. Fit wedding ring again 2. Get under 200 pounds 3. run a mile in under 14 minutes 4. reach goal weight 5. Get below 25% body fat percentage NEW GOALS 1. Sign up for a 5k (I have signed up just not done it yet...its in November) 2. Do a marathon next year (I have a year and a half to get this extra weight off and train for that) 3. Hike the stair master in Hawaii 4. Do a 10 mile hike 5. Go parasailing I have many fitness goals...I think this is what motivates me

Mishaps in the past 6 months
In 3 days I will reach my 6 month post op...well...24 weeks post op depending on how you calculate post op weeks...technically I guess my 6 month post op would be on July 30th. Well, you get the idea. I calculate by weeks and not actual months. It I wanted to take the time to talk about the "complications" I have had. These were my personal struggles. These issues were not serious, but I never talked about them and I figure it might help someone out there going through the same thing. My first issue was I had difficulty reaching above 600 calories in the first couple of months which slowed down my weight loss. I was never hungry and attribute a lot of that to the fact that I was barely getting any carbs. A high protein/low carb diet creates feelings of fullness because of ketosis. I eventually upped my calories by adding in a little bit more carbs and higher fat food like avocados. My second issue developed when I went on vacation a few months ago. So I guess I was about 4 months post op. I started to have this tightness in my chest everytime I ate something. It started as only a little pain with very dense foods. Over the course of a week it became worse. Anything I drank or ate caused a sharp pain in my chest and esophagus area. It felt as if something was getting stuck there. It was very painful. Even liquids started to hurt. This pain slowly over the course of the week moved from my chest area down to my intestinal area. I was away from home at the time and had a check in appointment with my surgeon the day I got back from my vacation so I didn't go to the er or urgent care...although the pain was bad enough where I thought about it. When I got home, the surgeon found absolutely nothing wrong with me. I would say it took about 2 weeks, but the pain did eventually go away. What I concluded by looking on the internet and what I was feeling was that I possibly had a twisted intestine. That is what it felt like to me...like it started off with maybe a dense food being stuck in my esophagus area which caused me to eat barely anything. Maybe because my intestine was so empty...it was easier to twist...It literally felt like there was a kink down there and when the food would try to pass it was painful...I could feel the exact moment it was moving through that painful area. I guess it does happen and it just has to work itself out. I don't know what caused it, but I do know that it did pass. My 3rd issue is diarrhea. It has only happened a couple of times so it took me awhile to realize what was causing it. It seems every time I eat/drink something easily digestable with a high sugar content such as a milk shake...it causes cramps, a general feeling of sickness, and almost immediate diarrhea. My conclusion is I think my digestion is working over time??? I have read some posts about other people going through the same thing. Some have had to have his or her gall bladder removed. I just think I will stay away from things such as milk shakes. I hope this helps someone out there. All in all, I have had a few things that weren't perfect, but nothing serious. It all worked itself out eventually.

Gym etiquette.....is it just me......
good for you to say something. this ****** is probably used to people just letting him get away with that crap...NEGATIVE REINFORCEMENT! I have a list of gym annoyances. I applaud you for being diplomatic...I don't know if I would have done the same.

Appreciating all the little ways my life has changed in the past 5 months
I will almost make 6 months post op, and I have a great many things to be thankful for. We all strive to hit numbers on the scale, but it is all the little accomplishments that really make a difference in how we feel and the way we move. I've compiled a list of all the things I have noticed since surgery that have changed for me. 1. My blood pressure has dropped 20 points (*note that I have never had high blood pressure) 2. I have dropped 2 shoe sizes 3. I started out doing 15 minutes of cardio and can now do 2 hours non-stop of medium to intense cardio 4. Foot pain is GONE 5. Knee pain is GONE 6. Back pain/sciatica is very rare 7. Migraines have subsided and only come about when I get a massage or have a lot of neck tension 8. I don't need an extension for the airplane 9. I am now considered a regular at the gym 10. I am able to look in the mirror more and for longer periods of time 11. I rarely need to take a nap in the middle of the day 12. I can work a 8 hour shift with no problem...used to work only 4 hours because my back and feet would be killing me 13. pants size went from 28/30 to 20 14. I am seeking out new active things to do instead of avoiding them 15. I don't have any bathroom problems: (this one is quite embarrassing), but I used to have a lot of issues...even wiping my ass where I would be in tears because I couldn't reach! I don't have any of these problems anymore 16. Sex is way better! Being on top is an option now and an enjoyment :0) 17. I get a compliment every day 18. My towels fit completely around me now 19. I am more social 20. I watch less tv 21. I need my husband's help less with everything 22. I am 14 pounds away from being the same weight as my husband!!! 23. I enjoy working out 24. I am comfortable with what and how I eat...I don't obsess anymore 25. I am now trying to motivate others 26. I am so busy living my life that it is hard to get on the computer and post blogs...I'm trying though

When to start drinking alcohol?
almost 6 months out and haven't touched it. I can't imagine drinking it because of the way I think it will make me feel. Too scared to do it. I don't like the uncomfortable feeling or feelings of acid reflux.

Gone from size 24 to 16 and no one seems to notice? What about you?
yeah i agree...I think people are more likely to say something if they know you are trying to lose weight. If they don't know, then they might feel like they might embarrass you. I mean what if your weight loss was because you were going through an illness that they did not know about and it wasn't intentional...then they would feel really bad as would I.

Apple Sauce Surprise
I tried this. Not bad, just looks yucky to me, but I ate it anyway...and tastes not bad at all.

Seriously? Does everyone exercise?
Maybe your body is resisting because you are so close to your goal weight. I mean the closer we come to our goal weight the more our body freaks out and tries to maintain. I love to exercise! The only time I don't enjoy it is when it causes me some sort of pain. if you truly don't enjoy exercising, then I agree with everyone else...find something you enjoy.

No appetite
Also if you are doing high protein, low carb you will feel fuller.

Hair loss?
Mine started at about 2 months post op. No bald spots, but I had extremely long hair which I opted to cut short because the way my hair was falling and parting was making it look like I had bald spots. After I got my hair cut short, it wasn't even noticeable. I am now 5 months post op and the hair loss has slowed. I can tell because I vacuum a whole lot less than I used to a month ago. I used to vacuum several times a day because I have a white ceramic floor and I could see all the hairs on it and it would drive me crazy!!! Not because of the mess necessarily, but because I was reminded of how much hair was actually falling off my head! I don't need to vacuum every day anymore so that is an improvement.
