    What do you think?

the sleeve is a tool that you get.. and with any good tool.. it takes someone (you) to use it properly to work.. and let me tell you its the best thing.. you have to follow all your docs instructions and follow the diet.. but the sleeve wont let you eat more than you can take it.. you get sick.. and thats not pretty lol.. now ive been very good..and have done everything I was suppose to do.. and im down 60lbs since dec 20th.. now what more could I ask for... I cant wait for more to come off.. but you have to make the effort.. you and the tool you are given... its not an easy thing at times.. but the end results..are fantastic.. Im still on my journey and will be for the rest of my life.. but oh the rewards of being a normal size.. ive been heavy most of my adult life.. not obese but I finally got there after my last child... but no more for me.. im taking back my life.. im not going to be like that anymore.. I have control now.. and the surgery will give you that too.. I found that I didnt like the foods I used to.. something changed in me.. not sure what.. but ive changed... its like I know now what I have to do..and im running with it.. best of luck to you on your new journey

    Well surgury is compleated 2/28/13

best of luck to all of you.. best thing ive ever done was the surgery.. Im just about back to normal.. minus 60lbs and counting..
  3. Best of luck to you also.. my hubby was not only on board.. but had the same surgery a week after I did.. so we are in this together... and he is my biggest supporter and I am his.. he is the one who brought up the surgery and did the research on it.. .he wanted us both to be happy and healthy.. I love him so much.. and this has been the best thing we ever have done.. granted he is looking fantastic..and lost faster than I have cuz the men do that.. but still ... we are taking a cruise as a reward for how great we are looking.. we have both lost 60lbs each since dec. .. so its a great thing to have a live in supporter.. congrats...

    6 months out

Im over 2mo out and Im doing under 800 cal.. and 60gr of protein and 64oz of water a day.. hard to do at times cuz of work and all.. but I do my best..and im down 60lbs.. YaY me.
  5. NancyDec20

    size of meals

I could have shaved meats.. but not meatballs or anything dense like that.. but all plans are different.. try not eating as much.. I found that also the dry dense stuff made my stomach hurt.. but the more wet foods did not.. and my plan says to eat small meals thru out the day but mine are very small and I keep under 800 cal a day and make my protein each day and drink a lot of water or crystal light is good too... and do you take an antacid? sometimes it could be that too. check with your doc.. I had some weird side aches and incisions pains... turns out I was over doing it and wrote me note for work to take is easy for the next 3 weeks even tho im post op from dec 20. my jobs require quite a bit of work.. so I go to him if I dont feel right..and he is so understanding about it.. since this is all new to all of us.. he always tells me if I dont feel right..then come in and he and the nurse will see me.. so keep in touch with your doc. best of luck to you.
  6. I was on full liquids a week before surgery and did not cheat because I knew it was important for the liver to shrink... then cl liquids the day before.. I did not have a fatty liver and everything went well.. call your doc and tell him.. and he would be able to tell you if things will be ok.. prolly so cuz my hubby cheated before his..and his liver was ok.. but that was him..everyone is different.
  7. I didnt get that.. I went to the store the day I was released from the hospital.. all I could think of was ew. just wanted to go home.
  8. I was in surgery for 3 hrs.. had a hiatal hernia to repair.. then in recov for an hour or so.. then to my room.. that was a thurs. and I went home the next day.. all was great and well.. my doc only keeps the sleeves over night... providing no complications..and I have had none.. he calls me his lil superstar.. told him I was a big one now.. gimme a few months and I will be your lil super star.. he laughed.. my doc is fantastic..
  9. oatmeal for sure.. I dont like it but it was on my list.. sugar free Jello and sugar free pudding.. cream soups.. smoothies... protein shakes.. protein drinks.. mashed potatoes.. soft eggs.. stuff like that...
  10. NancyDec20

    help please

sugar free popsicles made me feel good.. lol in fact they still do.. I liked the warm broth.. and no tomato juice.. to acidic.. sugar free jello is good too... gurggling is a normal thing in the beginning.. your stomach is making some major adjustments... I didnt have to take any stool anything.. the protein drinks made me run to the bathroom.. turns out the milk I was using didnt like me very much.. so my doc said to mix the powder with water.. crystal light is excellent.. and I even froze some to for ice cubes.. its a trial and error thing.. what works for some doesnt work for others.. so my advice is to buy small.. dont get a huge case of something until you know its gonna be ok... or that you even like it.. my tastes have changed majorly.. I used to like scrambled eggs.. now I dont like them at all.. but I like the soft eggs.. and I find that somethings are just too dry to eat.. I like wet food if that makes any sense at all.. but im way further out than you.. Im just about on a what would be a normal diet.. im post op dec 20th.. and have done extemely well.. just going to sign up at the gym today.. very odd feeling.. me at the gym.. never thought I'd see those words together LOL.. but hey ive changed and the way that I eat has changed.. another piece of advice.. read everything.. all labels.. best thing ive ever done was this sleeve.. Im not envious of others who are able to stuff their faces with bad foods.. not one time have I said I wish I can have that.. cuz you know.. the grass isnt greener on the other side.. I just simply dont like that stuff anymore.. have I tasted it .. yes and my tummy said "what the hell are you doing? thats just nasty, throw it away" and I do.. I like my diet now.. so best of luck to you on your new journey.. and ask anytime if you have any questions or concerns..and of course follow the docs and the nuts instructions..and if you feel you have some issues that are not right.. call the doc or nurse right away.. mine are fantastic..

    SCARED OUT OF MY MIND!

We were all scared going into this surgery.. but I found I had only one regret.. That I had not done it sooner than now.... Everything went well.. im doing great.. I feel great.. reg diet now after the phases that were required.. some restrictions like popcorn..cant have that til im 6 mo out.. but hey small price to pay.. Im not ever hungry ever.. I get my protein in..and that is the most important.. protein protein protein.. sip sip sip and walk walk walk.. im post op since dec 20 and im down 60lbs... and cant be happier.. just bought a new pair of pants for the gym and a shirt..and had to by 2 sizes smaller.. I was jazzed.. and dont forget.. to take your vitamins.. minimal pain in the beginning.. they give you pain meds for that.. I had scheduled stuff that went into my IV.. then some liquid lortab went home with me.. so all was good.. you will feel tired a lot in the beginning.. but thats normal.. and as always.. follow your docs and your nuts instructions.. and you will be successful.. best of luck to you..and if you have any questions.. just ask.. everyone here is a great help.. specially with their own experiences... welcome to the losers club
  12. I too have found that I have no interest in the fatty things I used to eat at the nurses station.. I pass up everything now.. and take only protein things.. I can take it or leave it.. at a meeting the other day.. the table I sat at was where they chose to set the doughnuts.. I just looked at them and went ... yuck.. now how great was that.. and I didnt even want one at all.. I find I like my currant diet.. the non fast food protein diet and my atkins bars.. and my cheese.. so Im very happy..

    McDonald's Fries, Oh My!

You know.. I have found that my tastes have changed so much.. I dont crave those foods anymore.. and certain breads dont like me.. so Im not really into sammichs.. and I can only eat a half of one anyway.. on the wheat bread.. with some good protein meat.. but even then.. im not drawn to them.. I eat tuna.. and chicken mostly.. but not really craving fast food.. im afraid to eat it cuz im afraid of not liking them anymore like I have so many other foods.. ive become a very picky eater.. never thought that would happen.. but that is a very good thing.. very very good..

    Wow 40 pounds lost at 5weeks !

good deal on the weight loss.. its not an easy thing nope.. but oh the end result.. I too am reluctant to shed the bigger clothes.. the elastic still holds my scrubs up and my shirts are like a mini dress now.. I guess when the elastic no longer holds them up.. I will get new ones. its taken me since dec 20th to lose 58lbs.. im hoping by may I will be down another 50.. lol or at aleast 30.. my hubby is taking me on a cruise to alaska to get away from work and all the stress of making that 60g of protein.. lol.. but you are doing fabulous.. and keep up the excellen work.. welcome to the losers club
  16. or possibly could be acid in your stomach that makes you feel like you are hungry.. but proper dieting should fix that.. and an antacid.. please stick to the diet that was provided.. if I get too full.. boy can I tell.. im very uncomfortable.. protein protein protein.. stay away from the fast food, high sugar foods.. even processed foods have hidden sugars and fats and high in sodium.. start tracking your food.. I do..and when I get close.. to my calorie limit... thats it for me..and I do get my water..and are you taking your vitamins regularly too? and Im afraid like the doc.. it is a tool.. and we have to be the ones to use it properly.. and I will have to ask my doc if he has ever taken less of the stomach because of a lower bmi.. never heard of that.. funny thing tho.. I was like in the beginning did he take it at all? lol.. just was worried it wasnt going to work for me..and sometimes the people with the lower bmi lose more slowly than those of us with higher bmi's. best of luck to you.. time to jump start your system... get it on the move again.. hopefully you will find something in these posts to help you out... dont give up.. we all have a story to tell.

newbie here to vent and seek support

great job on the weight loss.. we are all different.. we all lose at a different rate.. my hubby had the surgery too one week after I did.. and he looks great.. he isnt at his goal yet.. but getting close. me on the other hand.. I still have a lot to go..and yes I get frustrated at the fact its so easy for him to lose the weight.. me it is taking more time.. but I understand that.. still frustrates me but its ok... you are doing a great job.. just come here for advice and direction.. but do keep to your diet of protein and water... as for the so called friends.. if they were true friends they would be more supportive of you.. I have a great circle of supporters.. including my hubby.. and has there been any negative nellies? yes one I work with.. who likes to inform me on a daily basis of how she is going to lose wt the old fashion way and is not going to resort to surgery to lose it.. but in a few more months.. I will have the last laugh.. she is struggling..and if she is looking to me for support.. I have non for her.. I have no regrets other than not doing this sooner.. I do have one insecurity.. but this isnt about me.. I will deal with whatever people throw at me.. bring it is what I say.. bring it.. and if you cant be happy for me.. or supportive.. get out of my circle.. I have no time for the negatives.. even tho people feel the need to tell me about their mothers brothers sister inlaw who had the surgery and it failed I tell them it didnt fail... they failed.. oh well.. keep up the good work.. you will hit your goal as I will.. hang out and stay awhile here.. )))

    Surgery Fear

Have you spoken to your doc about your fears? Im sure as you well know.. with all surgery procedures there is risk involved.. I was very lucky and was very healthy going into surgery.. was I nervous and scared that something might go wrong? yes I was.. right up until they took me to the OR. in fact before they came to get me I was crying... but I guess it was just I was scared... but after surgery I was ok.. .doing well up in the chair 15 min after I got to my room..and walking in the hall an hour later.. and I have not had any problem.. now he did repair a hiatal hernia I had.. but I didnt know I had.. so all is good.. im post op since dec 20th and Im down 56lbs.. and Im so totally happy about that... but I can understand your fears... you didnt say what your first surgery was for.. and was the clot and kidney thing related to that?.. best of luck to you..
