  2. I am a bit nervous to broach the topic of WLS in mexico with my PCP. How did you guys do it? Did you tell them beforehand? or wait until after surgery? can they decline to care for you?
  3. I know some have suggested bringing broth but what about clear protein mixes/drinks? Should they be brought to use in the hotel or can you wait til getting home to start protein?
  4. Tami, My surgery isnt for months but I like to plan ahead and have been keeping a running list of things people say are useful in MX and that I know I would use. So far my list has: Neosporin Body wash (dial soap) Extra bandages broth packets Heating pad Extension cord Little pillow sleeping mask Chap stick Gas X (strips and pills) Slippers and socks Night gown Mind sharing yours to compare?

  8. Icon23, one website I really like is http://www.obesityhelp.com/member/carmelita/blog/2011/03/31/-2/ I like it because it contains some statistics and explains the bougie (which prior to that website I hadn't even thought about)
  9. Thanks for the sites simplejac girl. ANY websites, I have just begun talking with a coordinator for a self pay surgery in MX. Any sites on the surgery, questions to ask, what to expect, how to prepare, life afterwards etc would be great
  10. I am looking into having my surgery done with Ready 4 a Change in Tijuana. I am only about 2 hrs from the San Diego airport by car. So obviously I wouldn't be flying, however I would rather drive to San Diego and have the driver pick me up from there then drive into Mexico myself. Has or is anyone else doing this? I was thinking I would have to park my car at the airports overnight lots. Also I my mother is going with me, and I worry about her safety and comfort. I've read alot about how patients are treated during surgery but any input on how your support person was treated? She will be staying at the hotel during my hospital stay, I'm hoping she will still have the driver to take her back and forth from the hospital to the hotel. And finally does anyone know if you have to have a passport book to go into mexico or will the passport card be enough? Thanks in advance
  11. I've come across what seems like hundreds of websites in my research. WHat are some of the best/most helpful sites you have come across? I'm always looking for more info Thanks!

  14. I have been struggling with my weight for 7 years now and have done everything from weight watchers to see a weight loss doctore, will little success that didn't last. I am 5'3 and currently 185 (and with the holidays, counting) with a BMI of 32.8. Any thoughts of whether or not I would be considered for the sleeve?
