  1. I'm 46 and will be a few days shy of eating regular food again when my hubby and I hit our 30th wedding anniversary this valentines day. No reservations at a nice restaurant this year, but we are both too excited by my journey to care. I'm so looking forward to the new me emerging over the coming year and all the things we can do together. Loving life right now.

  2. I get nausea from pain meds and always vomit after general anesthesia but I talk about with both my doc and the anesthetist and we agreed he would be more aggressive with anti emetics to avoid the nausea. He ordered a patch for behind my ear before I was even taken to the OR and said I could keep it on for 3 days:). All went well' date=' just talk to them openly about it because there are things they can do to prevent nausea and vomiting.[/quote']

I had the patch too and never had any nausea. I highly recommend them.

  3. I'll be thinking of you all weekend! And as far as weigh in the day of surgery, the rn who weighed me (still fully dressed with shoes on, I thought it was gonna be after I was in a gown) said she was only weighing so they could calculate meds. Has anybody actually been turned down the day of surgery, or is it just a scare tactic?

  4. I was sleeved on January 14. Starting weight was 277 and weight today is 255. I don't understand what all the "confessions" are about? Why is it not okay to eat a snickers every once in a while or have the fish from McDonald's? I've eaten whatever I want and still lose a pound every day. I'm so confused about why everyone thinks you can NEVER have sugar' date=' caffeine, carbs, or fat again? That's probably why everyone's hair is falling out??! Eat a healthy diet but be realistic! If you want one piece of cheesecake (which u prob can't eat every bite of anyways) then eat one![/quote']

I don't understand. You just got sleeved and you are already eating whatever you want? As for the restrictions, some people get dumping when eating sugar plus just like any weight loss effort it's counter productive. The caffeine is a gastric irritant so when your stomach is healing it's even more important to not chance getting an ulcer. As for the fat and carbs, again it's counter productive. It's up to the individual what sort of weight loss you're looking for and how fast you want to lose. As for hair falling out that's more to do with not enough Protein than anything else. We are all aware the sleeve is a tool and we can choose to succeed or fail.

  5. I totally understand where you are coming from. Your heart gets so torn' date=' but your head is telling you something else and you end up in a complete battle with yourself![/quote']

The only saving grace is my daughter has horrible pregnancies. Had her appendix out during the first, had an ovary removed due to cysts forming during her second. Had kidney stones during both. The list goes on. The truly hated being pregnant so did get her tubes tied after grace was born. I can't tell you what a relief it was. I hope you're successful in having your daughter do the same. In the mean time, those walks on the beach sound so wonderful. Hope it brings you some peace while you wait for her to get her act together.

  6. I haven't looked up carbs' date=' but they would have to be pretty low. There is no bread, no rice, no Pasta, no crackers, no salad dressing. I'm around three and a half months out so am eating regular food. 15 grams of Protein in a single meal for me hits right where I need to be based on my surgeon and nutritionist's recommendation for my daily Protein intake of 45-50 grams. Neither want me eating much more than 50 grams of protein a day since that would be excessive for my height and weight goal and harder on my liver to process. I'm amazed at the extremely high levels of protein other members are asked to take in daily.[/quote']

Thanks that's good to know. I'm kinda stressing about being able to get enough protein. My doc says 80-100g a day. Right now I'm doing 2 Protein shakes a day for 60g but not eating a lot of additional protein. Once I move into solids I doubt I'm going to be able to get even 80g. No way I'm gonna get up to 100g.

  7. I just read an article about a celebrity chef named Art Smith who dropped a "startling 120 pounds thanks to Portion Control and rigorous workouts" in just two years. Uh huh. He ate a lot of salad too' date=' apparently, which he claims is part of his success.

Whether he had WLS or not, look at his before and after pics...he must have had some plastic surgery to remove excess skin or something.

I don't think he looks like he had any plastics. He still has some old man boobies and a belly pooch. Last time I lost 80lbs I had about the same pooch left and I'm praying this time it will be about the same cause I don't want a TT. He's been talking about his weight loss for a while and I really don't think it was from wls. Think I'll keep my eye on him. See if he gains any back.

  8. I can totally relate. I have 5 grown kids. My 29yr old daughter now has 2 kids and a drug problem. She has lived with me on and off since her first pregnancy and Dylan my grandson has always lived with me because frankly, I don't trust her. She now has grace, 10 months old and we recently discovered she's using again. She denies it or says well I stopped 2 weeks ago. Just crap. Now she's taken the kids and moved 2 hrs away from us, saying she needs to get away from the access to drugs, her friends etc. in reality I believe it's me and her dad she's trying to get away from as she doesn't like us trying to make her get clean.

So here we are. Out of reach with her. She's a good mom to the baby. A little lazy with Dylan. Isn't getting him to school every day. But other than that I can't call her a bad mom enough to have the kids removed. And if I could have them removed, that would mean we are raising them! I just don't know if we are up to raising a baby again. It's one thing for them to all live here. I love having my babies here where I can love on them every day. It's quite another to take total care of them. Kinda feel like we are between a rock and a hard place. I don't know what the future holds, but I hope it works out for you.

  9. That sounds like dirty pool to me. I'm so thankful i have kaiser since its like going to an all inclusive resort. Everything's included and there's no waiting for approval. Wish everybody had it as good as I do. Hope you get it all straightened out.

  10. wow - fantastic... 2 weeks out and 33 lbs!!!! I am two weeks out and down only 13 lbs from day of surgery (23 lbs from beginning of year)! I am feeling good about losing the weight' date=' but I see your loss and wonder what I need to be doing!?! My doc has me on soft foods - not puree, but chicken or whatever as long as it is super soft! What are you doing at this point? Keep up the great work![/quote']

I'm 2 weeks today and also down 13lbs. 53 total which I love but anxious to see the post surgery lbs add up. I'm on puréed food starting today so can't wait till dinner time when I can eat MEAT! Even puréed meat will be ok. I made pork chops in my slow cooker last weeks, so packaged up 1/2 cups of meat and gravy for myself out of the leftovers. Yummy! Hoping I have no problems eating it.

  11. I got surgery because I woke up every day of the last 2 decades thinking I was living in somebody else's body. I was thin growing up and into my early 20's. I hated that I didn't feel like me. Of course that is partly vanity but also just got so tired of daily life being effected by my inability to move and do things I wanted to do. I had no comorbidities either but certainly didn't want to develop them. I rarely buy clothes because they never fit right or make me look attractive so what's the use. I already feel so much better with a 50lb weight loss and can't wait to feel like the real me again.

  12. I've always had problems with bras fitting badly. Hate going bra shopping. I did go the other day though because mine are so big now. So sad lol. Anyway I tried on lots of different bras and ended up with a danskin sports bra from Walmart! My breasts haven't been up where they are supposed to be in a long time. And it's so comfortable. Not sure how well it will keep them from bouncing around during exercise but for every day it's great.

  13. I don't have pain if I eat too much it just wants to keep trying to come back up my esophagus. Then I spend the next hour or more trying to keep it down. Really annoying. I'm still on full liquids and have been trying to actually eat something 3 times a day like cream of wheat or a Soup, but really I feel better when I don't. It's like alcohol though. No real signs while I'm eating then about 10 mins after a meal WHAM it hits me. Too late by that time.
