    January Newbies ! Progress ?

Can't wait for onederland!!! Gotta think of a nice present for myself.
  2. "Now to the question about lower BMIs having smaller sleeves... It is my understanding that they use a bougie to measure, which would mean that the sleeve sizes would not be drastically different, right? Maybe they give guys a little bigger sleeve than women, I don't know." I wonder if some people have a longer stomach, which will mean a longer sleeve. The bougie will make a standard circumference but there might be more length involved for some folks.
  3. I can eat more than I see people posting here too. A whole cup of soup. 3-4 oz meat plus a Roma tomato for lunch yesterday. Now that I'm on solids (4 weeks out today) I'm getting much more strict on weighing and measuring. Just because I can doesn't mean I should right?

    Gained weight

Do any of you gain a bit during 'that time if the month?' I had a hysterectomy years ago but still have my ovaries and have always still had a few days of bloating then a few nights of having to get up multi times to pee. I wonder if that contributes to these sudden gains even though we are on plan.

    January Newbies ! Progress ?

Sleeved 1/9. Down 19lbs since surgery, 59 lbs total. I have already stalled once for a week so am finally starting to see the scale move again. Yesterday was the first day I tracked an entire day on myfitnesspal. I ate 469 cals. Carbs 39 and protein 65. Now if I could just do that every day. Being back at work is great for getting into a set routine of getting my water in and eating at set times. Would be great to be able to catch a quick afternoon nap though. 10hr shifts are killer.

    January 2013 Sleevers?

Is it getting better? Looks like you're still on the hospital. How are you doing?

    Finally I can eat solids!

So I went for my 1 mo appt yesterday (I'm 3 wks 1 day) and confessed to the dr that the puréed stage just didn't work for me, and cream soups make me feel awful. So weighed down and it always felt like it wanted to come back up. I told him I had been eating meat for the last couple of days (instead of at 30 days out) and he told me fine. Just do what's comfortable. He said the reason for prolonged mushy foods is that most people just can't tolerate the regular food. I'm so relieved. I was expecting a lecture. So today I'm finally going to start making meals, starting with my turkey southwestern burgers but made into 1oz meatballs that I can just grab out of the freezer. I'm wondering if others have batch cooking type of meals they freeze up? Also I am thinking about using half turkey and half tvp, but I have never tried it. Does anybody have experience with tvp? Thanks so much. I'm excited!

    Finally I can eat solids!

I made them today. I divided the raw meatballs into 1.3oz balls, hoping they would be 1oz after cooking. They turned out to be about .9oz. I put 2 in each bag and they weighed between 1.7-1.8oz for 2. 20oz lean ground turkey 16oz chub chicken Italian sausage (isernos brand from Safeway) 4oz diced green chilis 4tsp cumin 1tsp chili powder 3/4 tsp garlic powder 3/4 tsp salt 1/2 tsp pepper Combine well and divide into meatballs. Bake on cookie sheet until done. I baked mine at 275* on the bottom rack because I had ribs in the oven already. Worked well cause the outside of the meatballs didn't get all hard. Probably cooked for about 1/2 hr. I didn't time them. Here's nutrition info per meatball. (1/32 of the batch) Calories- 42 Fat- 1.8g Carbs- .1g Protein 5.8g

    Constipation HELL....P!

I've used fleets suppositories. I already had them on hand so figured they aren't dependent on drinking fluids so may be an easier solution. They work within 1/2 hr of using them.

    January 2013 Sleevers?

I got them while I was in the hospital. Had big bruises where they stuck me. They burned like crazy! Glad I didn't bring any home.

    Finally I can eat solids!

My breakfast every morning for months before surgery was 2 turkey sausages, sliced thin. One in each muffin cup. And 1/4 c eggbeaters divided into both, then baked. I would make a few dozen at a time and put 2 in snack size bags. Just grab out of the freezer and add a fruit and I had my breakfast. Now I guess it will just be the egg muffins. What do you put in the quiche? Can you post the recipe?

    January Newbies ! Progress ?

I had surg 1/9 and I'm only down 15. My doc says it looks like I'm a 'slow loser'. Kinda depressing but at least the scale is going in the right direction.

    Finally I can eat solids!

I have bought frozen meatballs. They are great cause each is 1 oz so I can easily just grab and go. I want to make mine cause they are so much better. Flavored with green chilis, cumin, chili powder, garlic powder. So yummy.

what is your favorite snack post op

I haven't gotten to snack yet so I'm drooling over these ideas. I was looking at turkey jerkey in the store the other day. Really high protein/low carb but I wasn't sure if it was too hard to digest quite yet. For Super Bowl I think I'm going to make spicy garbanzo beans which normally would be eaten with fried pita chips but I love them so just gonna eat them by themselves.

    Salad

I don't know about salad but my doc said I could start eating apples next week. I will be 4 weeks out.
  16. All of the above but I'm actually hoping the rashes don't go away because at kaiser, if you get repeated yeast infections in your folds, tummy tuck becomes medically necessary not cosmetic, so it's a covered expense. Also breast lift if you get a rash under the girls. I would LOVE some free plastic surgery!

    I was shocked!

Awesome! Now you can replace your prescription meds with all the vitamins we need to take lol!
  18. I had a headache while still in the hospital. That's the only thing I took pain meds for after the day of surgery. I asked for Tylenol for my headache and had to convince the rn I didn't want liquid lortab. Just Tylenol lol. Maybe it had something to do with gas rising? Not sure. Whatever the cause, hope it goes away quickly.

    can you pull your staples?

So sorry you are having pain. I've been picking up my granddaughter since I came home from the hospital ( she's 22lbs) and on Wednesday I cleaned out my garage. Lifting boxes half the day. I was 3 weeks out that day. Didn't even feel a twinge. I'm surprised you would have pain that far out. I would call the drs office and talk to them.
