    January Newbies ! Progress ?

You're doing great! I was sleeved 1/9 and am down 40 as of this am. Yes I could be doing more and losing faster. Exercising my heart out, tracking carbs and Proteins. Sometimes life gets in the way. As long as you're not going crazy and you're losing, hurray for you!

    January Newbies ! Progress ?

I haven't checked in for a while but thought I would pop in real quick. Surg date 1/9/13. Hw 268 Sw 228 Cw 191 Total loss 77 lbs. it's coming off pretty slowly. I don't always get my protein and a few weeks back, I started just hating the whole drinking liquids thing. Water doesn't taste good. Sobes don't taste good. So it's been a bit of a struggle. I'm not unhappy with the slow loss but do worry if I don't take it off fast enough that window will start to close and the opportunity will be lost. Anyway, how is everybody else doing?

    January 2013 Sleevers?

I'm at 9 weeks today. Down 32lbs since surgery. I have learned that I will lose next to nothing for a while then drop a couple lbs within a couple days. It's great when I'm seeing the scale drop but in between those times not so much. Must learn patience....

    Pureed stage

I wish you luck. I kind of skipped right over the puréed stage. Really hated the texture of puréed food and tolerated solids fine so my doc said eat what you can tolerate. So glad he did cause I wouldn't have survived puréed meat. Bleck!
  6. The day I've been waiting for, I finally broke the 200 lb mark this morning. I'm so thrilled. I've lost a little slower than some but as long as that scale keeps going the right direction, I'm ok with it. Loving my sleeve today! I started my preop diet on oct 19. Lost 40lbs pre surg. Sleeved 1/9. Today I'm down 69lbs total.

    How many carbs

I hated the first few weeks after surgery when everything was cream this and liquid that. Felt like I was just stuffing myself with carbs! I don't exactly count my carbs but I only eat low carb stuff most of the time to keep them on the low side. I found carbsmart yogurt from Kroger that has 8 G protein and 4g carbs. Tastes way better than Greek yogurt to me so that's my breakfast most days. The rest of the day the meals center on protein so the amount I get in other foods is negligible. I'm almost 7 weeks out.

    6 days post op

I wouldn't worry too much unless its extreme. I had diarrhea for the first week but since I was only taking in liquids I figured it was pretty normal. Once I moved to full liquids and had stuff with a bit more substance it went away. And was replaced with constipation. Much bigger problem as far as I'm concerned.

    January 2013 Sleevers?

I had my first bad episode on valentines night. Made a big dinner for me and my hubby. Lobster tails, stuffed salmon, rib eye steak for him, baked potatoes and steamed spinach. I took one bite of lobster and it didn't sit well with my sleeve. Instant pain in my chest that just wouldn't go away. I ended up going upstairs and throwing up. I was a mess. I'm so surprised because absolutely nothing has bothered me so far. I was 5 weeks and 1 day and had been eating solids for a couple of weeks. So much for celebrating my 30th anniversary. Boy am I glad we decided to stay in this year because that would have been embarrassing in a restaurant. I guess the moral of the story is, even if you think your sleeve can handle anything, proceed with caution!

what is your favorite snack post op

Tvp is total vegetable protein. It's kinda crumbly like granola and picks up the flavor of what it's cooked with so you can rehydrate it in water or broth then add it to meats to use less meat. I haven't cooked with it yet but here's the nutrition info For 1/4 c dry tvp 80 cal 0 fat 7g carb 4g fiber 12g protein 3G sugar

surgery tomorrow 9 am! Jan 16.

It will be good to get back to work. I don't know about anybody else but I do better on a routine when I'm working. At home other distractions happen and I find myself not drinking enough or eating on a schedule.

    January Newbies ! Progress ?

I stalled during my second week as well. Upped my cals for a day and started losing again. Right now I'm 5 weeks today and only lose 1-bs a week. Some days nothing. But I have faith eventually the weight will come off. Maybe I just need to eat a Twinkie to make my body believe all is right with the world hahahaha

I tasted a couple bits of TVP yesterday and it wasn't bad. Nice and crunchy. I bought it to rehydrate and add into meat dishes but now I'm thinking it might be a good snack (my doc allows one snack) to crunch on. And excellent protein. Has anybody else eaten it dry?

I believe viactive is calcium carbonate which is not well absorbed after surgery. You need calcium citrate.

    My first time eating out

So I had a meeting last night at a Mexican restaurant. Was very apprehensive about eating there in front of a crowd. I ended up ordering fajitas. Just kind of picked at the chicken and had a few bites of beans. Nobody even looked my way! Not sure why I was worried. The only downfall was that with a full plate of food in front of me, I couldn't resist kind of grazing during the whole meeting. I'm still not really sure how much I can eat at one time. Maybe it would have been smarter to ask for a box right away and just leave out what I think I should be eating, but still pretty happy about the experience.
  19. Omg I can so relate. I went to a water park a few years ago. Went on a slide that's a big open area. Start at the top of one side, go down then up almost to the edge on the other side. No walls no net nothing. I lied about my weight to go on it. Then when I came within a foot of the far edge I was seriously having a panic attack that I was gonna keep going off the edge. My 2 girls didn't go nearly that high. I got off thinking that was the stupidest thing I had ever done. The weight limit was there so the forward motion didn't drive you up and over that side. I haven't gone back to the water park since.
  20. I know this sounds trivial in the list of things I can't wait for, but I can't wait to have smaller clothes that don't slip off my clothes hangers. So tired of cleaning up the bottom of my closet floor full of clean clothes.
