    January 2013 Sleevers?

I don't have to do a bowel prep. Just tomorrow full liquids and Tuesday Clear Liquids, but thinking of how sore my belly is going to be after surgery, I think I might do one anyway. The less I have to go to the bathroom afterwards the better! Good luck tomorrow!

    surgery is tomorrow!

Soon you will have all this anxiety behind you! How exciting! I don't go till Wednesday. Today I went out with my hubby. Just trying to stay busy and not really think about what's ahead. The next 2 days at work are going to be tough though. Not concentrating well lol. Good luck tomorrow! Wish it were me!

    Interesting observation

That is interesting. I'm noticing just the opposite. My small friends are leaning towards 'you've done such a great job dieting, you look great, you don't need the surgery. Just keep up what you've been doing' they really have no clue what it's like to constantly feel like a hamster on a wheel. I lose, I gain, lose again etc. I have no doubt if I set my mind to it I could continue to lose but I don't believe for a minute I will keep it off without help. My heavy friends are very understanding and a few of them wish they had the guts to do it as well.

    Gallbladder Disease

My doctor does a cholangiogram during surgery and if any stones are found he removes the gb. He also told me he will fix anything he finds, whether its a mass on an ovary or a hiatal hernia, whatever he sees and is able to fix he will fix. Now I have these thoughts of him inspecting every organ inside me one by one while I'm under. I don't know. It seems odd he would venture into other areas. I understand gb or hernia. Anything else? Not so much.

    Losing breast weight

I'm down 41 lbs (pre surg) and already my boobs are shrinking. After spending over 5 yrs nursing kids, they were far from perky anyway. My hubby says its ok, just buy a smaller bra, roll them up and stuff them in your bra. Nobody will care when u have clothes on. I love how wonderfully supportive he is.... Lol

Do you drink with your food?

It's one of those things I really wasn't in the habit of anyway. Maybe a few sips. I don't order a drink at restaurants cause most of it is wasted so I just get water. I haven't been sleeved yet, but that rule was given to me at our first class when I started my diet. It's one of the easier restrictions I've been told I will have to live with.
  7. I need some help! I am attending a baby shower tomorrow night at a Thai restaurant but have never eaten Thai food, so have no idea what to expect or if anybody knows some low fat, diet friendly dishes to look for? I am pre surgery but with 7 days that will include a baby shower and 2 birthday parties, I don't want to blow it now. Any advice would be appreciated.

    Anybody familiar with thai food?

Yeah I kinda thought curry would not be the best option. So yummy though! The good news is, I saw my surgeon yesterday and since I have lost 3x the amount he asked me to, he told me to do what I want for the next few days before I start my liquid diet on Monday. Not planning on going crazy but it's nice not to have that stress of watching every ounce because I don't want my surgery cancelled.
  10. How exciting for you!! When is your surgery scheduled for?

    Anybody familiar with thai food?

Oh I'm not afraid of starving, just the opposite in fact. I'm really afraid I will get into pre op next week and they will put me on the scale then cancel my surgery cause I've gained weight! I love curry so will give that a try. Maybe if I just pick out the protein, all will be good. Thanks for the responses.

  15. I'm so jealous of all you guys going to Mexico! I'm freezing this morning, and a sunny destination seems so wonderful!!!
  16. I'm so glad you're feeling well also. I am fairly new to the site, and have been reading through many posts. I have to say, I don't think it's really fair to bash the 'negative ' people, as they are the ones who have had to struggle. When they are at home not doing well, this forum is where they are turning to. Looking for people who can give advice because they have also been there, but mostly looking for people who can empathize with what they are going through. After all, that's what this forum is about right? I go in for my surgery in one week and feel that I've been fortunate to read both sides of this coin. I understand some people don't like hearing doom and gloom but honestly, I would hate to think that group, who have/had troubles stop posting because they get labeled 'negative'. Those issues are real and it helps to be very aware of them. Your story is great, but it is not going to help me if my outcome is less than spectacular. Again I'm glad you are doing great. Just a little bit more charity towards those who are not would be nice.

    Valentine's Day Challenge 2013

Ok well as soon as I get to surgery so I know that weight, I'm in too! Would like to be under 200 by valentines day. My anniversary as well. 29 yrs and still going strong.
  18. I was told this is elective surgery and they will cancel it if I even have sniffles. I'm going out today and stocking up on zicam to take in addition to the airborne I'm already taking.

    Puree Stage - Recipe/ideas

The cauliflower recipe sounds fantastic! Can I ask if you use fresh shredded Parmesan or the powder stuff in the pasta aisle?

    January 2013 Sleevers?

All these long pre op diets! I have been doing good on my diet but have cheated a few times I will confess. Other than just the regular diet I've been on, I only have two days of pre op diet (liquids). My last day to eat normally will be jan 6th and I am planning on going out to dinner with my hubby. Make a date night since we never take time for ourselves anyway. Just need to decide on what my 'last meal' should look like. In between then and now, I still have New Years, 2 birthday parties and a baby shower. Heaven help me make it through those!
