    Need some opinions!

I am 5 days out and started my full liquids yesterday as instructed. All the food you mentioned is on my list if approved foods for full liquids. As long as I strain the cream soup to remove any solids or the fruit from the yogurt. I guess there's a wide variation in drs orders but if you had my doc you would be right on track. Call your doc to ask if its ok.

    Freaking myself out

For every horror story I bet there are a couple good outcome stories. I read them all before my surgery too, but kinda decided that its much like women telling their bad labor stories. Nobody tells the easy labor stories right? I was sleeved last Wednesday and have had zero problems. No gas pains after surgery. When the nurse asked me to get up and walk I said sure, hopped out of bed and headed down the hallway. She had to tell me to slow down lol. I haven't had any nausea, am able to easily get my fluids in every day. I asked for pain meds the day of surgery but by that night I asked for Tylenol only and haven't even taken that since I got home. I am so happy that none of the issues others have posted about have happened to me, but really I'm glad I read about those what ifs because I felt better prepared to deal with them. It's a scary thing we are doing to ourselves but in my opinion so worth it in the end. I hope your surgery is as uneventful as mine. Good luck to you.
  3. The class is 'mindful eating' which is something the psychologist will recommend depending on how you answer his questions. It is not mandatory and I must have done ok with him because it was not suggested for me. I went to orientation on oct 19, met with the surgeon the same day (try to prearrange to have the entire day free cause they will probably offer appts after the class) and got my goal. I had to lose 13lbs before surgery. I lost that much in a couple of weeks on the diet they gave us. But then had to wait till nov 29 for the psychologist appt. once I got his blessing, the other appts went pretty quickly. Had to meet with the nurse, go to the pre op class and meet again with the surgeon. There isn't a real timeframe from orientation to surgery. It's just a matter of getting thru all the required appts. After meeting with the surgeon, you need to get labs done and an EKG. EKG is walk in so just go do it. The 13 lbs I was asked to lose turned into 41lbs by the day of my surgery but hey who cares if its list before or after surgery. Let me know how you do.

    Chia seeds

What are they and what do they do?
  6. It's a good class. You will meet the rn. The dietician and the dr who will do your surgery. I had dr. Grinberg. He's wonderful! I'm 4 days post op and haven't had any issues. It's a very supportive group there. I think you'll like them. Just be aware though that the hardest part is getting in to see the psychologist. I had to wait over a month after I was already at goal weight because I didn't know I could make an appt with him when I got within 5lbs of goal. So keep that in mind. As soon as you are 5lbs away get your weight documented at your drs office or the bariatric office and get that appt made! Good luck to you!

Very impressive! You look great! Congrats!!!
  8. I was automatically given a 4 week work note but i totally could go back to work tomorrow with no problem. I am 4 days out. I had 2 coworkers who had wls recently and both took 6 weeks off. Not exactly sure why. I see my doc on the 18th and will be talking to him about releasing me then.

    January 2013 Sleevers?

I get to advance my diet to full liquids today! So ready for something other than chicken broth. I was sleeved on the 9th and have had zero problems so far, so I have my fingers crossed that I will make this transition smoothly. Never thought runny cream of wheat cereal would be so appealing haha!

    January 2013 Sleevers?

It was so nice sleeping in my own bed last night. I hate being in the hospital. I was on dilauded the first day but by about 3am I asked for straight Tylenol. I couldn't function at all with the narcotics on board. I had no gas pains at all, and my constant belly pain wore off quickly. Now only when I try to sit up or something which strains that area. I'm just gonna concentrate on my fluids today and rest.

    Valentine's Day Challenge 2013

Ok so finally had surgery yesterday so I can join in the fun! Highest weight 268.6 Surgery weight 228.9 Goal weight 218.0 I have no idea how fast or slow I'm going to lose right away, so I'm just picking a good number. So I'm already down to 209.2 so with 8 days to go, I would like to get down to 204. I'm losing fairly slowly so don't want to shoot for the moon.

    January 2013 Sleevers?

I got out of surgery late yesterday afternoon. Had an ok night. Staff made it impossible to sleep more that 2 hrs at a time. I took pain meds last night but I'm feeling pretty good today. I have only taken Tylenol since early this am. It's 12:30 and they just brought me a tray of liquids. Hope I don't have trouble cause I'm ready to go home.

    January 2013 Sleevers?

Good luck today! I don't leave for a few more hours. Good thing I guess because I decided to drink a bottle of mag citrate after I got home from work and I've been running to the bathroom since around 2am lol. Hopefully I'll be done with that before I leave or the drive will be very interesting. Let us know how you did when you can. And I'm 46 so not a young pup either, but I still see a much better future for myself. Still have plans on doing all the things I couldn't do as a heavy person. Don't count yourself out of the game at 52. Lots of time to enjoy this new you.

    H pylori

And beware if you get treated for it then do a blood test to check its still going to be positive. Need to do a stool test or breath test. And it MAY cause ulcers but most of the time it doesn't. That's why people don't know they have it.

    January 2013 Sleevers?

Finished my last day of work finally! I felt like the hands on the clock were moving so slow! I just want to go to bed so I can wake up and head for the hospital. I'm kinda bummed my check in time was pushed from 6am to 10:30am which means surgery is probably early afternoon. Gonna make for a long day, but by this time tomorrow, I'll be on the other side. Can't wait.
  16. I think the clothing aspect of this journey is absolutely the worst! I just don't know what to buy I know I won't use any of the clothes I buy right now for very long so every time I put something in my cart, I decide against buying and walk out empty handed. At this rate I'm gonna be walking around in my birthday suit!!! Ok so really I have bought 1 track outfit, 1 pr of Capri stretchy pants to sleep in and 1 pr of long yoga pants. My tops are baggy but still pretty much wearable. How soon did folks have to totally get rid of what they already owned? I tried cleaning out my closet yesterday but everything I picked up I talked myself out of getting rid of it. I guess it's a good thing I'm a pack rat cause I have a few items a size smaller than I was wearing. And some of my summer stuff used to fit me really tight so I'm thinking I might still get some use out of them. Sigh.... I don't know. It just stresses me out thinking about it.

    How often?

I will try harder. I've never looked for scrubs but now we have to wear kaiser ugly blue scrubs cause we do procedural sedation so they treat us like we are part of the operating room crew and we dress at work. I hate it but that will work in my favor for the coming months. I find cute stuff at goodwill for my kids as well so I guess even if I still can't find my size I can buy cute and wait to fit into it.
