  1. I would do it again! I'm only a few weeks out' date=' but its been a great experience so far. I am one of these "low BMIers" that some of you seem to despise. My BMI was 38, and I had no comorbidalties. I've seen a recent post on here say that people people who are slightly overweight shouldn't be allowed to have the surgery. But, having a BMI of 30-40 isn't slightly overweight, it's OBESE. Even if I didn't have any health issues, just being obese is amajor threat. I've seen all of my family suffer from heart disease and diabetes, so why would I wait until I have them too to get this under control?[/quote']

    So true

  2. So you knew you would have to take Vitamins daily for the rest of your life...yet you are complaining about it.

I got to tell you' date=' that doesn't make sense!

    [/quote']

I got 2 tell u my opinion is my opinion & no one ask u 2 comment with your smart remarks if u have nothing nice 2 say then don't say nothing at all knowing what u have 2 do & then having 2 make yourself do it everyday is a lot of work smart ass I answered the question worry about yourself u must be miserable this is a support site not a hate site

  3. Didn't you meet with a nutritionist before surgery?

I was told my post-op diet would consist mostly of Protein and that I would have to take daily Vitamins -- I was not surprised! Honestly taking Vitamins and eating Protein are 2 very minor things to gain my health and life back!!

Of coarse every1 have 2 meet with the nut. & I am answering the question & that's how I feel every1 has there own opinion

  4. I think it is good that your posts are seen. I think the medical profession should do a better job of weeding out unsuitable people for this op for their sakes. I just want to say though that for a motivated person who understands what they are doing WLS is a good option if all other avenues are exhausted.

I am now 4 years out and from a BMI of 41.5 I achieved a normal BMI (sub 25) within 10 months and have maintained the normal range ever since.

That's great how are things. 4 years out haven't found any1 that far out is it difficult do u still have 2 drink shakes?

  5. If you get Unjury's strawberry sorbet you can make popsicles' date=' Jello, and fruit jell pies with it! You can add it to some lemonade for a strawberry lemonade drink, or do like my friend does and make it with some yogurt for a strawberry cheesecake flavor.[/quote']

Thanks I been trying shake after shake from GNC & the only 1 that I can make myself drink is chocolate I'm glad they have a great return policy hope the strawberry sorbert 1 is good

  6. My hubby had that happen...he was sleeved March 7 (of 2011) and on March 17th we went to a St. Patricks day party that was hosted by some Irish friends of ours. He talked and talked' date=' and put some broth from an Irish stew in a bowl with a few other things but only had the broth. :) Also I had surgery on Oct. 22 (2010) and had thanksgiving dinner with (some) people who DID NOT KNOW I had surgery and no one said boo. My plate looked fairly normal and I did not eat it all.

What I have found is that MOST people are waaaaaaay more interested in THEIR OWN plate of food and don't really notice much about what's on YOUR plate of food. The best thing about going to parties post-sleeve is that finally the party isn't ALL about the food. ;)[/quote']

  7. short message to those that feel the surgery was wrong' date=' not for them or feel they should have done it on their own. some folks will vilify your decision. best to keep your thoughts to yourself and move on. this thread is more of a very pro surgery forum and most critical thoughts are not very welcome. MHO[/quote']

I think every1 should express there true feelings nomatter what any1 say

  8. Hi Toy - Did you' date=' by chance, enter your first stall? That happens around 3-5 weeks out from surgery and can last 1 week, 3 weeks or longer. It is just your body adjusting after the initial depletion of glycogen from your muscles. It will break once your body breaks the cycle of converting fat into glycogen for the muscles. The glycogen requires a lot of supporting Water. I think I read 2 lbs of Water are required per lb of lean muscle to support processing of glycogen. Somebody correct me if my facts are wrong. This water retention gives the appearance of "stalling" while, in fact, your muscles are eating glycogen and building (read: gaining lean muscle). Once the glycogen is depleted again so goes the water and your stall breaks. And the cycle repeats and repeats and repeats. That is why weight loss looks a little like a staircase. Lose some, stall, lose some, stall, lose some, stall, lose some....

Also, how tall are you and what is your goal weight?[/quote']

    Maybe I did hit a stall not sure I'm 5foot 4inches starting weight 215 now 200 goal weight 155

  9. Low BMI' date=' so you won't generally lose as quickly as someone who carries more weight. 15 lbs in a month? That's great! I'm averaging about 4 lbs a week, so about the same rate, and I'm pretty happy with that, and my current weight is 342!!!! Don't be unrealistic in your expectations! The sleeve is a tool, not a miraculous overnight cure![/quote']

True I was so disappointed because I only lost 1pound in 2weeks
