SerendipityHappens got a reaction from AmandaRaeLeo in Suspicions....
I was discharged with everything I needed. They included a description of what was done to me, my blood work, EKG results, a video of my leak test, list of medications given and discharge and diet instruction.. This was all included in my $4,500 surgery cost. What more "records" does one need? I received follow up care from my GP. Couldn't be easier.

SerendipityHappens got a reaction from M2G in So apparently I'm a hypocrite for getting weight loss surgery
I'm sorry to say, but I'm completely disgusted with your friend! I'm 100% against fat shaming. I also believe strongly in the "Health at Every Size" movement. I had accepted my body. I loved my body. I did not have surgery because I was ashamed of my body. I had surgery because I love my body, but I felt that the size that my body had become was a hindrance to me and was keeping me from doing all that I wanted to do in life. If someone else is in a fat body and they don't feel it's a hindrance, then they should not even consider the surgery!
Even though I have had the surgery, I am still an advocate of the Health at Every Size philosophy as it helped me be as healthy as possible in the body that I have. Oddly, surgery was only an option for me BECAUSE I had learned to love and had finally accepted my body.
I know that there are many out there who are true friends and good people, but just say the wrong thing, I get that and I feel that the relationship can be mended as they learn more about surgery and these people can actually become our greatest supporters.... I don't believe that this particular friend is one of them and cutting her loose might just be the best thing for all.

SerendipityHappens got a reaction from nsquared in Dating post-op..does it get easier?
I met and married my exhusband at 360 pounds. I met my most recent exboyfriend at 340 pounds and we broke up two months ago. I went back on the dating sites at 240 pounds and 41 years old. It's maybe a little different... now I get men who tell me that I'm too small to be in the BBW category. I also get messages now from men who are not necessarily "chubby chasers" I live in a small city (harrisburg, pa) and I received about 5 contacts a day.. maybe ONE of those is from someone I might be even remotely interested in. After two weeks on the site I met a great man and we've been dating exclusively for over a month.. He's 8 years younger than me, kind, funny, athletic, and extremely handsome.. oh and he's single, straight and employed. SCORE! He thinks it's great that I've had the surgery and that I'm still working toward my goal. He says that I'd be fine if I stayed as I am, but that it's good I'm working to meet my own goals.
In order to have success on a dating site, here is my strategy:
Be VERY clear about my bodytype and size without being self deprecating. Post many pics at realistic angles including a few full body shots.
Put yourself in the correct bodytype category.. If you are more than 30-40 pounds overweight you belong in the BBW category.. if you are 20-40 pounds overweight you can use the "little extra" category and if you're less than 20 pounds above ideal weight you can get away with "average" if you want OR "a little extra"
Meet lots of people! I can't even count the "coffee dates" I've been on over the years. Unless you're totally turned off or creeped out by someone, then meet up for coffee in a SAFE PLACE without giving him any of your information. If you hit it off you can have a longer date later.. or turn it into coffee plus something else. If you don't hit it off then you've only spent a half hour of your time and you can move on.. I'll tell you this new guy I'm dating had horrible pictures online.. His profile was nearly empty and he didn't have great grammar during online messaging (he's not a native english speaker) BUT I didn't have anything to do that night so I decided to meet him at the local pizza place for a quick bite (well he ate, I just had some diet tea)WOW! I'm so glad I did, We hit it off right away personality wise and we have fantastic physical chemistry.
Don't waste your time becoming attached to people you haven't met yet. Seriously, MEET as soon as you can. Otherwise you spend time building him up in your mind and he builds you up too.. It's better to just meet in person right away.
    Good luck to you!

I'm losing at an average of a pound to a pound and a half a week. Not exactly a breakneck pace for someone of my weight but I'm OK with it. I'm eating 1240 calories a day.

SerendipityHappens got a reaction from ausmith in Best and worst "compliments"
the worst is from one of my customers, an old Korean lady.."oh, you lose weight, you not so fat like before.. before you was SOOOOOOOOOOO FAAAAAAAT" (complete with hand gestures to illustrate exactly how fat I was.
The best was from my Aunt who is extremely weight conscious. I figured she wouldn't even say anything since I'm still 244 pounds which is unthinkable in her book.. But she absolutely gushed about how great I look and she said that if I continued to lose weight that would be great, but even if I never lost another pound I look fantastic.. then I proceeded to get phone calls from my cousins who called me because my aunt had gone straight home and called them and gushed about how "thin" I was and how great I looked.

d'oh,I'm disappointed. I've been waiting for a report on the bike! I just got a bike a few days ago and I rode it home from the bike store.. four miles in heavy traffic and I'm not a very competent rider.,, which apparently is quite obvious because the guy from the bike shop called me to make sure I got home safely.

Sorry to disappoint but be disappointed no more. I went for a quick 1.4 mile ride thru the neighborhood this morning before work. The bike felt AWESOME! It is amazing how much a bike that is fitted for you feels so much better. Well worth the money in my opinion. I didn't ride home from the bike shop...that is about 25 miles for me...lol I will be riding again tonight for sure.

    Good Morning Ya'll,
I step on my scale this morning and I am down to 230lbs from my highest of 289. When I started my BMI was 243 and I was classified as morbidly obese. I was excited when I lost enough to be classified as severely obese. But now I am overjoyed because I just hit under 35 for my BMI. I am now just OBESE! Yippee, Yahoo! My next goal is to be overweight. I am hoping to reach that goal by New Years.

I'm just counting biking with an aggressive goal of 300 miles. As for what we "should" count.. I think we should count whatever is going to motivate us to push ourselves and increase our activity.

SerendipityHappens got a reaction from gamergirl in What's for lunch?
I sauteed some onions and garlic with zucchini, then I added some stewed tomatoes and italian seasoning. I cooked it all together for a while then added bunches and bunches of fresh baby spinach and wilted it down. This keeps in the fridge for about a week. When I'm hungry I get 3/4 of a cup of this and crumble an ounce of feta and half an ounce of asiago cheese and then microwave it. ZOMG!!!!!
