I started one day early by logging 15,610 steps yesterday!! That's about 4.25 miles for me!
My goal is to average 10,000 or more for Nov.

OK, November 1 is here! I'm having panniculectomy and hernia surgery in 4 days... So my goal is to work out either c25k or my class everyday until then. I'm on end of week seven, wanted to finish... Probably not now though. After surgery I'm hoping to get in 25? Miles... I'm not sure what will be obtainable.... Let's do this!

Ok, I've been keeping up on everything that's been said on this thread and decided to go fishing on Plenty of Fish. Told myself to be very open and answer the messages I got very honestly. Well, I met this really nice man today who wrote to me. We met for coffee, then took a walk thru downtown Palm Springs and then had a nice lunch, walked and window shopped and talked....all so very relaxed and positive. Tonight he called me and asked me to go to Las Vegas with him to meet his son at the UNLV football game and spend Saturday night in Vegas!! We have separate rooms. I'm looking forward to it. I just can't believe i met someone so nice and so interesting!! The real catch is he is 3 inches shorter than I am. I was worried he wouldn't like me because of my wrinkly body and he was worried I wouldn't like him because he's shorter than me....and neither thing seemed to both either of us. I'll let you all know how Vegas is...But, you know what they say....what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas!!! Lol!!!

I'm recovered from my dog bite and back on my bike. Rode 10 miles yesterday bringing my total bike miles for the month to 90 (my goal was 300!) I'm still planning on my Halloween 21 mile ride though.... so I'll make one part of my goal at least!

My bike came in!! I got it put together and got in a mile before having to run my grandson and son around. Came home had leftovers for dinner and put in 2 more miles while watching the end of the biggest loser. So for now my total is 59.44 OMG I might make 60 miles!!! My bike is quiet and the seat is nicely padded. ps I'm gonna make 60 miles before I go to bed tonight!

AWESOME! I'm cycling.. but I had to take a bit of a break because I got bit on the leg by a dog.. Feeling better now and getting back out there. I go 8-15 miles at a time and it didn't take me long at ALL to get up to those distances. my pace is slower than yours though. I go an average of around 10mph-I can't believe you're already going faster than that at only two weeks post op! WOW!
In addition to my planned rides, I also try to incorporate cycling into my daily routine.. I cycle to work, I run errands on my bike, etc. At first I was really intimidated by hills... but now I just hop off my bike and walk up the hill and quit worrying about it because there isn't a hill anywhere around that is too steep or to long for me to WALK up!
For me cycling has nothing to do with weight loss.. it's just a fun activity that I've been LOVING.

the seeds have a chance of getting inside healing staple line. Many people have no restriction on seeds however.. and most of those of us who do are cleared to have seeds between weeks 6 or 7... I'd say you're not in serious danger since so many people don't have the restriction at all.

The best compliments come from my 5 year old nephew.. He told me the other day "nini you look so beautiful today, I love your boots! You smell really good too!" Then when I dropped him off at school he gave me a big kiss and hug then told his teacher "doesn't nini look beautiful!?" I just smiled at his teacher and chuckled then as he was running to the playground he yelled out " nini! I love you!" So I yelled back at him that I loved him too. So many kids don't want to be bothered with kisses and hugs but he doesn't care what people think and it's adorable!
Another compliment that was actually funny was at work when a customer was asking me. To speak to me... I smiled and said yeah that's me! Then had to show him my tattoo on my arm! He is an older gentleman and he said oh my goodness gracious I didn't even recognize you you look terrific congratulations!!
I haven't run into negative people yet but it could be that I avoid negative people like the plague, and I always have.

I've had a pannus since age 11... I have no idea what it will be like without one...It's just part of my body that I'm so used to now I can't imagine not having it.. .I actually have two sticks of deodorant.. one for my pits and one for under my roll.... TMI? perhaps, but it will be nice to downgrade to only one stick of deodorant and some point! I guess I can add that to the list of NSVs I'm looking forward to.

I had a new one (to me) yesterday. I ran into a guy I used to work with and he moved his hands in a kind of hourglass shape and said in his cute British accent, " You're... You... it looks...well, there's less of you, isn't there?"
    Yup.

LOL, this reminds me of the "coffee" scene from Moscow on the Hudson, where Robin Williams has a breakdown in the grocery store because he can't handle the huge selection of coffee available.

I'm posting this in the 200 pounds forum because I know that for us, our NSV's can be very different from the run of the mill NSV's the lightweights have... so here are some NSV's from a (former)super-morbidly obese woman....
Being able to shop in ANY plus size section of any department store or chain with plus sizes (some of which carry up to 22 or 24 only) and not just the store with "extended plus sizes". *cough* Catherine's. BOOYEAH! It's awesome. But now my problem is TOO MUCH selection... I'm looking for a dress to wear to my cousin's wedding but I have too many options and can't decide!
Not having EVERY SINGLE SHIRT I own have a hole/stain at the belly from where I rub up against everything. Still waiting for this one... RUINED another shirt at work yesterday :-(
Being able to grab my own ankle without assistance in order to do quad stretches. It's embarrassing to have to have a stranger in your class push your leg up far enough for you to grab your ankle!.... I'm almost there but not quite.. I think my entire aerobics class is going to Celebrate with me when I can stretch my own quads.
Having the nasty yeasty fat lady feet problem go away. I had some sort of fungal/yeast infection thing going on on my feet for YEARS.. (ya know, that yellow chalky peeling cracking ugly old people/fatpeople feet) My right foot now looks like it belongs to a newborn baby and my left foot is ALMOST completely clear and I can wear SANDALS for the first time in a decade!
Bending over to pick something off the floor without thinking about it/without dreading it. A larger lady at the store dropped a quarter the other day and I KNEW she was thinking: "is that quarter worth bending over to pick up?" UG, I remember that feeling well... I didn't even really realize what a NSV this is until being reminded what a struggle it was for me before, because now I just bend and get stuff all the time now without even thinking about it.
OK so there you have it.. some of my favorite NSV's So let's hear it What NSV's made you the happiest.. or if you're just starting, what NSV's are you looking forward to?

Hello, I also dieted my way to gallbladder surgery by doing a super low-fat diet. I made it up to 360 pounds and a BMI of 60 by just letting things happen. For me before, there were only two switches.. "diet mode" and "free for all mode" With the sleeve now I'm discovering what "moderation mode" is like. Also, before, people would tell you to "fill up on vegetables" UH, I don't mind eating vegetables, but eating a huge plate of them was NOT ATTRACTIVE. Now when I want a snack and I'm feeling a bit of hunger but I don't want to burn through a lot of calories, I actually do eat 3/4 of a cup of veggies and the amount tastes good and is enjoyable and it actually makes me feel satisfied. WOO HOO! Of course I still struggle with emotional eating and cravings.. and sometimes I give in.. but when I do it's TEMPORARY and I get right back on the horse.
As for how to pay, Of course insurance is your number one option.. if that is not an option, Mexico is an option too. I had my surgery in Tijuana for $4,500 which included everything but tips for my drivers and Airfare! Prices in mexico seem to range from $4,200 to $9,000 depending on city, doctor, and hospital. Prices in the US seem to range from $10,000 to $30,000 depending on city, doctor and hospital.
I couldn't afford to pay for my Mexico surgery right away so I decided to use those months of waiting to start a pre-preop diet. I'm an excellent short-term dieter and my surgery date was like a light at the end of the tunnel that kept me motivated. I dropped 50 pounds before my surgery which helped give me a head start and made my surgery a bit easier for the doctor and safer for me.
    Best wishes to you!

SerendipityHappens got a reaction from Carmen1963 in 7 months out... first and possibly LAST time out drinking since sleeved.
Three and a half drinks last night over a 5-6 hour period.. Lots of Water and some food in between and I STILL promised the Irish boy sitting next to me that I'll be his NEW BFF and I'm pretty sure I kissed a man with Maori tattoos on his chin. I'm 40 years old and up until last night, I've never been intoxicated... EVER.... I thought I was doing good with pacing myself and eating bits of food etc....WRONG. So glad I looped in my friends PRIOR to going out of the possibility of alcohol affecting me differently because BOY, did it EVER....but fortunately they kept me in check and took me home and tucked me in... BUT now as a special added bonus..Now I'm hungover and ridiculously nauseated... Who gets hungover on three and a half drinks???? OK, just wanted to share the experience. If you choose to drink post sleeve, please be sure that you have friends who will watch out for you.. or drink at home.
