What do you think? Do you consider me a slow loser?
Considering that my weight on surgery day was 290 pounds... with the following stats, would y'all consider me a slow loser? I'm feeling like I'm falling behind those who WEIGHED LESS and were sleeved at the same time as me... March 297 to 276 down 21 pounds (includes two weeks of preop) April 276 to 273 Down 3 pounds. (but up 11 pounds of "Water weight" according to my fancy scale) eating 800-900 calories a day May 273 to 259 Down 14 pounds. eating LCHF 800-1050 calories a day. So far in June I'm down 3 more pounds to 256.

for those of us who've never been not fat..
When my sister was fat she looked like the before picture at her weight of 220 pounds.. She looked AWESOME. She had a flat tummy, cute belly button, full legs with perfect non-cellulite contours, a bootylicious behind and tiny waist.. She could have been a plus size model... Now that she's 155 she STILL LOOKS AWESOME... Me,. I've had cottage cheese thighs and a low hanging pannus since I was 11..... I have NEVER EVER seen my belly button... I'd KILL to look like the before picture!

Help me convince people Mexico is safe
You can also go to youtube and find video testimonials that will often even show you a tour through the hospital. Also once you choose your doctor, you can find others who used him/her and contact them directly. I've spoken with prospective patients over the phone before about my experience.. I talked to one girl's mom even in order to help alleviate concerns she had.

Snacks
I kept cottage cheese and parmesan cheese at work and would bring tomato sauce in a little babyfood jar.. Dump all together and microwave for a savory meal/snack. Hummus was delicious to eat with just a spoon. I'd also bring a small container of curried lentils and melt half a piece of cheese on it in the microwave. Now that I'm eating all foods, I keep Quest Protein bars at work. They're delicious and have 17 grams of glorious Fiber and 20 grams of protein for 160-200 calories depending on flavor.. For a meal I'll eat a whole one.. for a snack I'll eat half. Another favorite snack is just a piece of deli meat wrapped around a slice of avocado. I think I started deli meats in week 3 or 4 and it went down really easy.

I'm stuck with my band until it erodes
Hopefully you will be able to get the revision you need. There are many here for whom the band did not work. There is no need to be embarrassed. When I was in Mexico for my sleeve there were several others were doing or had done Band to sleeve revision. Thank you for sharing your story. I considered the band several years ago because it seemed like such a miracle device. Thankfully after reading stories like yours I opted not to do it. So I hope you continue to share your story because people have the right to this information. Best of luck to you, I hope you will find resolution to your problem soon.

Even if you have done the ignore function on the regular computer, if you log in with the mobile app, it still will show the posts from the ignored user.

Calcium Suggestions?
I'm sorry, but they're not smaller.. They're the exact same size and shape as the citrical.. only difference is that they don't say Citrical on them. I even did a side by side dissolve test on them, and they both had the same dissolve time (under six minutes) The product number is 33195, but I just called them because I didn't see them on the website and they are currently on backorder!

Calcium Suggestions?
If cost is a factor for you and you like the citrical petites, then you'll LOVE puritain's pride Miniatures.. they're the exact same thing as the citrical but mail order and WAY cheaper.. Right now they're having buy one get two free with free shipping.. I think it works out to around $6.00 a bottle!

How long to eat salad?
Not everyone can handle foods as quickly as their diet progression allows. I had salad at around 7 weeks and no problem. I chose spring greens, onion, tomatoes and cucumbers and I chopped it all up quite fine... kind of like tabouleh texture. It filled me up FAST but no problems with it. If you try it and have problems though, don't worry, just try it again in a few weeks or months.

Shallow a pill?
Yup, i was swallowing pills in the hospital too.. The only pill I waited on was my calcium because it was a bit larger than the others so I was asked to wait 2weeks before starting that one.

Is it possible I have already stretched my new sleeve?
Firstly, Ditch the New whey Protein, it's not good quality protein that your body can use. Second, I could drink 80 ounces a day while still in the hospital... How much Fluid you can drink has nothing to do with sleeve size. It's related to inflammation, those who can drink less have more inflammation of the sleeve
-
Is 2-3 ounces my normal
I was the same way on liquids.. I could drink my 16 ounce Protein Shake in 30 minutes (the same length of time it took me to drink one pre-sleeve)... liquids just run right through.. Even yogurt or cottage cheese didn't really fill me up too well... I didn't feel restriction until I started eating dense Proteins and whole veggies.

Ignore user?
LOL, I'd never ignore you LL... I actually never thought I'd get to the point where I'd want to ignore ANYONE because generally, I can disagree with someone on one topic and then agree on a different topic without issue and besides I like to read dissenting viewpoints, I just can't handle the disrespect that some want to bring to the forum.... and now I don't have to.. WOO HOO!!!

Ignore user?
DONE! Thank you Tink!

Ignore user?
I don't want to see any posts made by a certain user or threads started by this user either. Is there an "ignore user" function here? If so how do I do it?

drinking a lot this morning.
I hadI hI had almost no inflammation in my sleeve and drank 80 ounces of fluid my first day post op. Nothing to get freaked out about.. quite the opposite, you're among the fortunate few who doesn't have to struggle with fluids. Embrace it!

My WLS journey with Alighterme/Dr.Lopez/Mexico the Real Deal
Well, if my doctor had shown up with a rusty saw and I was kidnapped by a Mexican drug lord, I'd have put that in my review.. but my yeah experience was pretty much butterflies and rainbows. Unsubscribing from this thread too now.
-
why so many "my journey with so and so in Mexico" posts
So glad I learned how to use the "unsubscribe" function here on VST.. Happily unsubscribing from this thread now before this entire thing turns too ugly for my delicate sensibilities.

why so many "my journey with so and so in Mexico" posts
To those of us who were researching surgery in Mexico, having the NAME OF THE DOCTOR/FACILITY/COORDINATING COMPANY in the posts was very valuable.. We want to know what the experience will be like with a particular doctor and also the coordinating company and hospital.... Heck, I have my doctor information in my signature. I assure you they didn't pay me for it.

My WLS journey with Alighterme/Dr.Lopez/Mexico the Real Deal
Pffft.. I recounted my experience several times on these boards. I've had people PM me with questions.. I've even had people call me on the phone to discuss my experience/doctor. When you're traveling outside the country for treatment, you want to read about every experience with that doctor you can get your hands on. I know I did.. So after I had my treatment, I paid if forward and recounted every detail of my experience. Choosing a doctor in MEXICO is not the same thing as choosing a the doctor in your city who accepts your insurance... heck when I had my galbladder removed, I didn't check into that surgeon at all. I just laid on the table and let him operate. As to why the entries are so long.. perhaps that is because the Mexico sleeve journey is a bit more complicated than just driving to the hospital. There's border crossing, fear of the unknown as far as neighborhoods, language barriers, dealing with the hotel, dealing with coordinators, etc..

Is 2-3 ounces my normal
2-6 ounces is what my paperwork considers "normal" I was/am up in the 6 ounce region because I have a long stomach and never had much inflammation. I'm still "normal" and so are you! As for drinking your calories/skipping meals, etc... Some plans advocating supplementing with liquid Protein drinks and other plans discourage it. Personally, I eat meals and supplement with protein shakes/bars.
-
Change in strategy. What strategy works best for you?
It's so hard to even imagine having a "normalized" relationship with food.. if I'm not eating everything in sight, I'm counting calories obsessively.. (right now it's the latter) I hope eventually to get to the point where you are.. where I can just kind of make good choices and eat intuitively.... but for now, yeah, it's pretty much logging every bite that passes my lips.
