  1. Are you drinking enough liquid? When I started purées- I couldn't get the hang of. Schedule to eat/drink the proper amounts and started retaining Water. My scale bounced up 5lbs at one point. I got my Fluid intake in check and hit a nice 2 week long stall. I freaked, but I'm back losing and I'm happy as can be :)

I think this is part of my problem, I'm having a hard time drinking liquids, if much I can drink 9oz all day... Gonna try harder. Thanks for the reminder!

  2. Yes me to...I gained 3-4lbs but I finally after 2wks started to lose. My Dr has me on 0 exercise for a another 1 wk. So I'm not happy with the slow progress but I'm not going to push it right now. I'm going on 5wks postop.

    hugs,<br />alma

I'm afraid it will take me some time to lose this 4 pounds, so I won't be checking with the scale. I can't exercise just yet. Only small walks

  3. This week for 2 days the scale showed a 4 lb gain! I couldn't believe it how could it be with the small amount I'm eating! Then in 1 day I dropped the 4 lbs! So it had Ro be Water retention or no BM that also makes a difference! I am 4 weeks post surgery! Hang in there it gets better really!

So happy for you those 4 pounds dropped fast. I'm even afraid to get close to the scale. I only check once a week, but it is devastating when all u find is pounds going on the opposite direction.

  4. Ever since I went from full liquids to purees I've gained 4 pounds. WTH? I'm eating only like 600-800 calories (tuna, refried Beans, sardines, hard boiled egg, cottage cheese, broths, Protein shakes)

What is wrong? Am I gonna gain back the 16 pounds I lost during liquids? Well I already gained 4... Is this normal?

Help, I'm so discouraged. I don't check the scale more than once every week, and finding this today really made me feel so unmotivated :(

  5. Yes you ca pass the leak test at the hospital and a week or 2 later get one. What cause it seems a mystery. Lifting something heavy, the dr you choose, your post op diet... Who knows... Symptoms are fever, shoulder or back pain, vomit maybe, etc. choose your dr wisely, ask him how many leaks he has had, and follow his/her instructions .

  6. For what I know, starving and being afraid to eat is anorexia nervousa. You need a few things to fit into the cathegory, one of them I think is to be certain amount of poundes underweight. However, if you are obese, are afraid to eat, you are restricting so much and this is affecting you health and quality of life, I know you could end up being treated for anorexia nervousa.

I was sleeved on 12/05/12 and the first week was hard to even complete 100-200 calories eaten all day. But I've been working this numbers up, so I can add more Protein and carbs. And as soon as I'm hungry I eat. I just get full with 2oz of whatever. But if I suddenly didnt want to eat and w as starving purposely, I think the chance of becoming anorexic would be high. We need to be careful.

  7. So glad your surgery went great. I also felt very well taken cared off. Dr Olivares, Dr Joya's partner or surgeon assistant did part of the following up, and he was amazing. I will miss him. He made me laugh a few times and thought my stitches were going to open. Also Dr Espinoza is extremely professional. I wish i could had brought them with me back lol because in case of emergency i know i will never be in such good hands here as i was there.

  8. 3 months ago this was not part of my plans. I was dealing with obesity but was working it with a therapist for the past 5-6 months, and i was getting very depressed bc i was not going nowhere with therapy or with my diet.

One day, my girfriend said she was going to Mexico to have the VSG done and i said me too. Crazy i know, but im the type of person who either acts right away or stays paralyzed for ever.

I went to mexico to have surgery since it was self-pay. Did my reserach. I wanted to be at a hospital in case of an emergency. I was expecting the worse pain for what i had read around.

To my surprice my surgery, to this day, has gone great. No pain. Only discomfort. I was very well taken care off. I stayed 3 nights at the hospital in a very nice private room just for me.

The liquid diet was hard those days bc i didnt like their teas or juices. I loved having broth on the last 2 days.

I stayed then two more nights in a gorgeous hotel and then came back to Florida.

One thing ive noticed is the mood swings. One hour im happy with energy and the next i dont feel like talking or being around anyone. I also came with very little tolerance for stupidy and get so angry and sensitive over the silliest things.

Im happy this opportunity came to me. If it wasnt for my friend, today i pobably would be either binging and feeling sorry for myself, or hungry thinking about food all day.

Im on the liquids stage. I get full really quick and sometimes the feeling isn't nice. I look forward to start purees but at the same time i want to get the most i can from the liquids stage. Dr suggested 2 weeks but said i could do 4. Who knows if i will want to.

I feel very blessed. Thank you Jesus!

  9. Hey guys! I also had my sleeve on Dec 5th. However, I am a miserable human being. :-( None of the pain pills work, I am still in a ton of pain, can't sleep on my side yet, still not eating/ drinking very much (on full liquids), and I'm just not sure if anyone else is having a hard time healing as well. I ended up staying two nights in the hospital & didn't really think I was ready to leave when I did. I am starting to think its my weight that's causing me to heal a lot slower. My weight before they put me to sleep was 351 lbs. if anyone has any encouragement by all means, please respond.

It is a lot of trauma for the body, so try to take it easy, don't rush it, recovery takes time but it pays off. Be strong. Im sure you have it in you bc it takes guts to have this surgery done. You are in my prayers!

  10. Hi Sannah! I was sleeved Dec 4!!! It is so nice to see someone else from this week doing well. I am doing great....lots of gas still and finally a BM after I took milk if mag last night. I singable a question fr you.....when I get my Protein shake in or Agee sips of broth my entire stomach feels huge and bloated. I hate it!!!!! Are you experiencing this? My mom says it must still be swelling and gas and basic trauma from surgery but I hate it.

Thanks for letting me know and I would love to keep up with each other!

I was sleeved on Dec 5th and can relate a lot to the bloating feeling after eating. Smetimes i dont notice it till i stand up.... I figured it was me drinking more than i could have. I dont get like this with 2oz of liquid but 4 do it.
